Omaha Symphony

  • Mica went and saw the Omaha Symphony yesterday for preschool. I asked him if he liked it? He said, "No it was too loud". He also didn't like that there wasn't a guitar in the symphony. He told me that there was a big drum, and that he didn't cover his ears. His cousin Evan must of covered his ears (that's probably why he brought that up). His favorite thing was the cymbals.

Poop Up the Back

  • Isaak pooped up the back 4 times yesterday, and threw up his dinner again (he's done it 4 times now). It's his teething bit. Poor little guy! I guess that's all better then when Mica cut his teeth; he would wake up screaming crying for an hour or two. Nothing would sooth him.

Sitting Up On His Own

  • Travis went to get Isaak out of his crib yesterday; Isaak was sitting up crying. He's been sitting up since Thanksgiving, but hasn't done it on his own. I remember when Mica started sitting up on his own; he'd cry in the middle of the night delirious because he was so tired, he couldn't figure out how to get back to the laying down position.
  • No crawling yet. He rocks back and forth on all 4's, but won't go anywhere. He rolls and scoots around to get where he wants to go.

Dr Mica Apel

  • Mica got these dress up clothes from his Great Aunt Becky for Christmas. He likes the doctor one over the other. He told his doctor Harrison that he's going to be a doctor and a firefighter when he grows up, and Isaak will be a garbage truck driver.

Fun with Daddy

  • Isaak can't have a shoulder ride without pulling some hair.

Grandpa Spiehs

  • It's kind of fun seeing how my dad is with his grandson's. All he had was daughters. He's really good with them.

Great Grandma Kent

  • My Grandma loves our boys. She always wants to know who they belong to and sometimes calls them girls. Her eyes get a sparkle in them when she sees them. Isaak and Mica love their Grandma Kent.
  • My favorite story in regards to Grandma Kent is when Mica told her how he loved the bubbles in her hair! Grey curly hair does look a little like bubbles to a kid.

Candy Land

  • Mica started having an interest in playing games. Candy Land is his favorite right now. He looses interest towards the end. Basically he takes his player man, and pretends it's a train on a colored track. His favorite color is orange. It's good to play games with him because I guess he was a poor sport at preschool when they played "Duck Duck Goose". He wanted to be picked every time. Then he proceeded to pout when he didn't get picked. We've experienced this with him when playing "Go Fish". He wants to "Go Fish" even when it is my turn to "Go Fish".
  • It's a learning process. I hope he's not going to turn into one of those adults that's a poor sport!

So Big

  • Isaak learned how to play "So Big". He throws his arms up in the air, just to hear me say, "So big". He has a huge smile on his face. Sometimes I gobble his ribs and armpits when we play this game, that produces a belly laugh out of Isaak.
  • Isaak is also easily amused when I make my eyebrows go up and down.

Two Teeth

  • We thought Isaak had two teeth now, but when we looked again that second tooth just hasn't popped through all the way. On Friday night Isaak cut a fever 101.7. He woke up a lot that night, and threw up his dinner. He also pooped up the back earlier that day. I'm thinking this is all from teething.

Crew Nuts

  • Most of what Mica says I can understand. A lot of people who don't know him think that he's 4 because he talks well and is tall. He's only 3. Socially he's not 4 years old. There is one word that I've heard him say that is rather amusing; that is "Crew Nuts", which is "Croutons". I know he can say, "Croutons", but when he asks for them (which we rarely have them), he says "Crew Nuts". Travis had to ask me, "What does he want?" I just laughed and pointed to the box.
  • Lately I've been trying to expand Mica's vocabulary. When we were at Aunt Angela's house, I told Mica to say, "Thank you for your hospitality". He said it perfectly. But now when I ask him to say it, he says, "No Mommy, I'm too tired to say that". Sometimes he says, "No Mommy, I'm too big to say those words", which makes no sense. That's where he's socially not 4 years old yet.
  • Travis was reading Mica a book on all kinds of dinosaurs, and some of them he didn't know how to say their names. Mica said, "Daddy we'll just have to ask Ethan". His cousin Ethan knows how to say just about every dinosaur name out there. Mica picks up on the little things now.
  • This means we really have to watch what we are saying! He called his cousin Evan an "Idiot" a few weeks ago. I was thinking, "Oh God do I call Travis that, or maybe my mom calls my dad that?" Go to find out it's in the movie Kung Fu Panda. At this age they absorb everything.
