Puppy Added to Isaak's Wall

  • So I finally got Isaak's puppy done! We're going to have to move him down just a tad because his back foot isn't in the grass.
  • When I was working on it Isaak kept trying to French kiss the poor paper dog. It's because the puppy's tongue is hanging out.
  • Lots of paper's and lots of hand stitching. All the lines you see is thread.
  • It's in the same style as the poky little puppy.

  •  The owl and bird's nest were all mine as far as style goes.
  • They are up in Isaak's tree now.

How I Wish!

  • How I wish that American Girl had American Boy dolls too!
  • I saw the Bitty Baby Twins and love their boy one.
  • I just want the boy for Isaak. I love it! We don't need the twins though.

Mica When He Was a Little Younger Then Isaak

  • Mica's on the left and Isaak's on the right.
  • They look like brothers, but there are many differences in them.
  • When Mica was Isaak's age he loved Fisher Price's Little People. Isaak really could care less about Eddie, Sarah Lynn, Micheal and Sonya Lee. Yes I know their names, that's how much Mica got into them.
  • Isaak likes stuffed animals (puppies in particular) and dolls. Mica will hold them for a few seconds then toss them aside!
  • Mica has always liked TV, when it doesn't seem to hold Isaak's attention at all. Elmo is about the only DVD Isaak will watch, and he walks away when Elmo leaves the scene.
  • Mica's pretty loud, Isaak's pretty quiet.
  • Mica is a sound effect's king, but wasn't so much at the age he's at in this photo. Isaak may get louder and more animated in the future.
  • Isaak's more of the kid that wants to do things himself. He doesn't like help. Some people could see that as stubborn, while others could see it as independent. Mica actually seems to enjoy it when people help him. He needs a little push to do things on his own.
  • They both like trains, Lego's and books.

More S'mores Please!

  • I won all the stuff to make S'mores from Go Graham Go.
  • Isaak had his first S'more last night.
  • I only would give him one. He wanted more!
  • He was putting his feet on the top of the kitchen drawers, trying to climb up to get more chocolate and another marshmallow off the counter.
  • Liking S'mores is an understatement for him!

40 Years of Sesame Street

The Almost Perfect Storm

  • We had a thunderstorm go through Omaha, NE last night.
  • Mica gets a little uneasy during storms.
  • The power flickered a few times. Mica kept saying, "We need to get flashlights!"
  • The perfect part of having the storm was the aftermath. A rainbow outside our front door. The sky was that eerie yellow. I think the sky looked like it was pulled from an old Twilight Zone episode.
  • Daddy got Mica out of bed to see the rainbow on our front porch. They saw a flicker of lightning go behind the rainbow.

  • I said almost perfect because we had to reset everything. I hate having to reset alarm clocks and I had forgotten to reset the dishwasher. The dishwasher has to be reset if it's interrupted. This morning I got up thinking I'd have clean dishes, and I had to finish the cycle. Our breakfast dishes will sit in the sink until we get home for super tonight - yuck!

I'm Old!

  • Mica is notorious for jumping out of bed, sneaking down the hallway and scaring the crap out of anybody that's in the house.
  • Grandpa Spiehs likes to scare people, and so do I. I have a memory of my Dad (Grandpa Spiehs) hiding under my bed after I watched a scary movie, and popping out to scare me. We have a generation of 3 people that like to scare people. We should of all ran a Haunted House!

  • This morning I heard Mica get out of bed and went to the bathroom.
  • I snuck out of bed and hid behind the wall. He came around the corner, and I quickly popped out. I said a quick, "Hi Mica!"
  • He jumped and started crying. The crazy thing was, he didn't start crying because I scared him supposedly. He was going on and with crying and saying, "I'm old!"
  • Daddy was saying, "Mica you are not old. Grandma and Grandpa Kent are old. You are not!"
  • Mica kept up this old talk for about 10 minutes. He then complained about his legs hurting. Then he moved on with, "I'm so hungry. I'm so thirsty."
  • Daddy fed him breakfast, and he gobbled it down FAST.
  • Daddy's thinking that Mica's going through a growth spurt and is just having growing pains.
  • He's been eating food and drinking water and milk like they are going out of style!

Characters for the Tree

  • I've been working to add more character's to Isaak's tree in his room.
  • At first I was thinking of just making a bird's nest.
  • I decided to make a sleeping owl too. The owl has to be asleep because it's day time.
  • These two characters are now made, but not attached to the wall yet. I'm still trying to figure out what the best way of attaching them is. Our walls and ceiling isn't dry wall. It's cement mixed with plaster. Something like that. Hard as heck! I'm sure structurally the walls are great to withstand a thunderstorm, but horrible to attach anything to them!

  • Here's the bird's nest. It will go on the bottom right branch.
  • A detail of the nest. I just sewed in scraps of thread and I left the ends showing in a messy manner since nests are organized, yet cluttered at the same time.
  • Here's the wise old owl. He'll go on the bottom left branch.
  • This is a detail of one of the owl's eye's. They were sewn in.
  •  I'm still in the process of making a puppy for a hill. He's going to be chasing one of the butterflies on a different wall. Isaak loves puppies, so I had to add one in.
  • I was thinking of creating a puppy Doctor Seuss style. To be honest I think Max from The Grinch Who Stole Christmas is kind of ugly. I'm going with more of a puppy look from The Poky Little Puppy.
  • It will be a brown puppy, and he'll have a funky pattern for his spots. I thought brown will be better then white; just in case a little boy decides to touch him a lot.
  • And last, but not least Isaak's going to have a kite on that same wall as the puppy.

Inception

  • Daddy's boss gave us free tickets to go see the movie Inception last night. We were lucky that my niece Kailey could babysit!
  • It's not out yet. We went to the premiere showing.
  • It was really good. Daddy said, "We have to get that on DVD when it comes out!"
  • It's one of those movies that keeps your mind going the whole time you're watching it.

Manicotti Night

  • I made two pans of manicotti last night.
  • I figured I'd make a lot with my niece coming over to watch the boys, and I wanted one pan to go to my friend Sarah's family. We're taking it over to them tonight. That was my favorite gift (a meal) for my second child. In their case, it will be their third child.
  • Sarah just had a baby girl Lillian Jane "Lilly". That make their family, a family of 5. They have twin 3 year old girls as well.
  • My sister and mom made us manicotti for my birthday dinner. They made one pan a white manicotti, and I did the same.
  • To make the white sauce, you melt 3 Tablespoons of butter, add a can of evaporated milk, boil and simmer for 5 min. Then stir in 1 cup parmesan cheese, salt and pepper to taste.

Sound Effect King!

  • I know it's hard getting past Isaak talking in the background, but try and listen to Mica.
  • He is truly the King of Sound Effects!
  • I've babysat a lot of kids in my day, and none of them made as many sound effects as Mica!
  • He's flying Buzz, blasting off a rocket, making trains or cars go. He's constant.
  • It's been getting on my nerves. I love him, and I love that he's happy. I do have to say that I love when Mica is quiet too! It's nice to have some peace a quiet.

Potty Game

  • Isaak's been wanting to play what I call, The Manipulative Potty Game.
  • I have him try and go potty before I lay him down at nap and night time.
  • He doesn't always go, which is fine.
  • He yells out 10 min. after I've laid him down, "Mommy, potty!"
  • I go and get him to try again. Nothing.
  • 10 min. later I hear again for Isaak, "Mommy, potty!"
  • I let it go, and tell him to go to sleep.
  • Twice it's gone on for awhile.
  • I go to check on him, and smell poop.
  • Clean up time. I feel guilty for not acting on his desperate call for, "Mommy, potty!"
  • What's a mom to do?

Temp

  • Isaak was really fussy last Friday.
  • He woke up from his nap, and had a temp of 101. something.
  • When he's fussy, he wants Mommy!
  • He woke up 4 times that night. Around 4 AM we gave him some more Motrin. That was the last time he woke up, and I just didn't have any energy left to carry him back to his bed.
  • In with us he lay.
  • His fever broke on Saturday, but he's been acting like he's cutting back teeth! I'm so ready for teething to end!
  • He's been sticking his little hand deep into his mouth to chew on.
  • His number 2's haven't been fun to clean up.
