Crazy Mom

  • Last night Mica would not follow instructions very well. I asked him to get his pj's on probably three times.
  • I went to take the compost outside. I saw Mica through the window horsing around. His pj's were still not on.
  • I pounded on his window. He couldn't see me because it was dark. I scared the crap out of Mica! He started to go to Daddy, and I tapped on the window again. This time I couldn't hold back the laughter.
  • I went inside and Daddy said, "You really scared Mica!"
  • I tip toed down the hallway where I saw Mica finally putting his pj's on. I ran into his room making a ROAR sound. The boy jumped again!
  • We have a family of crazy's. Grandpa Spiehs hid under my bed when I was Mica's age. Only to jump out at me. He did it right after I watched a scary movie for my age.
  • Mica loves to tip toe after he wakes up from his nap. He's just there behind you. He scares me too!

Jumping Jacks

Babos

  • We had a family get together last Sunday
  • Cousin Elijah (2 years) comes running out with his grocery cart full of stuff. He's a packer just like Isaak. ;) He kept saying, "Babos Babos!"
  • We were all like, "What?" We were chuckling because he was so serious. We couldn't understand what he was saying.
  • Aunt Terra followed him to see what babos were.
  • Mica and cousin Evan were playing in the hallway with flashlights making shadows. There you have it babos are shadows
  • Totally comprehensible when you hear it in context.
Elijah and Isaak are:
  1. Becoming better buds. They ask to play with each other.
  2. Building their vocabularies more. It's so much fun hearing them talk.
  3. Like I said, both are packers. They stash random toys in things. I found a foam puzzle piece in my computer bag the other day. I was looking for that puzzle piece for a few weeks. ;)
  4. They still fight. Everything is, "Mine." I think that's pretty typical for 2 year old kids. Especially when they are second children. They have to fight for their rights.
  5. Elijah likes to hit Isaak in the head with a plastic baseball bat. It's happened twice now. Isaak goes to take the bat and wham in the head he gets hit. Writing this reminded me of this song: Isaak likes to throw things, and has clocked just about everyone with something. He's pretty careless. Did I mention that he put a fracture in Grandma Spiehs' fused ankle! Careless boy stepped on her ankle. OUCH! Back in the boot she goes! Sorry mom!

Our Planet's Own Backyard

  • My Wee View is hosting to giveaway a documentary called Wonders of the Solar System.
  • It's full of amazing facts about our planet's own backyard.
  • Daddy is really into Science, and he's passing this interest down to Mica. Mica loves learning about how things work. He also gets out the globe and wants to know about different places. He was pointing out to his cousin Evan where we live on the globe.
  • Our two boy's and their two cousin's the same age LOVE watching and hearing They Might Be Giants Here Comes Science. It's perfect for kid's understanding of Science facts.

Gold Label Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Tropical Traditions gave me a jar of Gold Label Extra Virgin Coconut Oil to try out.

I have to be honest at first I had never heard of Coconut Oil. I didn't know how to cook with it. I had to figure out if it was even healthy to use in the kitchen.

Luckily I have a sister that works in health and nutrition. She told me that it is healthy. I also read up on Coconut oil before it arrived to me. This is straight from Tropical Traditions website:

As a cooking oil, its chemical structure is kept in tact and therefore is resistant to mutations of fatty acid chains even when used in higher cooking temperatures, unlike most vegetable oils. Research shows that the medium chain fatty acids found in coconut oil boosts the body’s metabolism, raises body temperatures, and helps provide greater energy which can lead to weight loss. For hundreds of tasty recipes from people who use coconut oil, visit FreeCoconutRecipes.com.

I used it on the boy's skin after a bath. I love how it smells and melts into their skin! Isaak always tries to eat the lotion. This is perfect for him because he can eat it.

I plan on using it to make a stir fry. Tofu is one of my newer loves.

We also made healthier cookies! I'm a baker. Even though I'm trying to loose weight I still love to bake around this time of year. I've been trying to bake using healthier things in the mix.

The Recipe I Use for Chocolate Chip, Cherry Chip Cookies

I love that these cookies contain oatmeal!
Coconut Oil can replace butter!

helpers are great! That is until they start fighting over who gets to pour the ingredients into the mixer.

    Start:
    1. Preheat the oven to 375 Degrees.
    Cream the following together:
    1. 1 cup Coconut Oil
    2. 1 cup white sugar
    3. 1 cup brown sugar
    Add:
    1. 1 teaspoon vanilla
    2. 1/2 teaspoon salt
    3. 1 teaspoon baking soda
    4. 1 teaspoon baking powder

    Blend in:
    1. 2 cups flour
    2. 2 1/2 cups oatmeal
    3. 6 ounces chocolate chips, 6 ounces cherry chips.
    4. 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
    Finish:

    1. Spray a pan well.
    2. I used a medium Pampered Chef Scoop.
    3. Bake until light brown.
    4. Place on a cooling rack when they've hardened up a little.
    5. They taste good warm (straight out of the oven), room temperature and cold (we sometimes freeze them).
    6. This made 55 cookies. We had a few and the rest went in the freezer for Christmas time. They tasted better then with using butter!

    We Went Bowling!

    • We went bowling down our hallway that is.
    • Isaak kept clapping
    • Mica kept tabs on who's turn it was.
    • Mommy kept setting up the pins. I think we were missing a pin.

    The Robot Book

    • This is a book both of our son's would love! Mica had a birthday party not too long ago that was all robots and space shuttles.
    • Go Graham Go is hosting a giveaway for this sweet book called The Robot Book! Two people will win one.

    Boys and Their Toys

    • Daddy helped Mica make a pretty cool Team GeoTrax track! I do have to admit, it is a pretty sweet track!
    • Mommy builds the Thomas tracks and Daddy builds the Team GeoTrax tracks.
    • They had it going up to his little table, and back down.
    • Daddy described them as saying, "Mica with a flappy hand, 'Whhoooaa! Wow!' Isaak says, 'Now my turn...Weeeee!'"
    • You can see and hear the excitement here:

"Hey Where Did All My Cars Go?"

    • Isaak took all of Mica's Hot Wheel cars and stuffed them into his Little People Bus
    • Mica asked, "Hey where did all my cars go?"
    • Isaak the packer was at it again!
