"Look at Dis {This} Mommy!"

  • Isaak kept saying, "Look at dis {this} Mommy!" this morning.
  • When I'd answer him he'd say, "What?"
  • My voice was horse, so I was slightly annoyed.
  • I couldn't stay annoyed for long. Look at him, he's so cute!

We Built a Thomas Track Today

Singing Isaak

  • He's been singing these songs for awhile, but I can never catch him singing on video.
  • When I do catch him singing on video, Isaak looks down and plays with something while he's singing.
  • I like the first video best!

Happy Birthday to Elmo

Mica Job Shadowed Daddy This Morning

  • Mica went into work with Daddy this morning.
  • His boss is the opposite of mine, lenient.
  • Daddy thought it would be much easier for me to have one kid gone since I couldn't talk.
  • Mica colored, watched a DVD and talked with Tom; the boss of another company in the same building.
  • Mica said that Tom is his friend now. Tom gave Mica barbecue chips. Mica in return gave Tom a drawing.

Doctor

  • I went to the doctor on Friday.
  • On Thursday night it was getting difficult to swallow. I had a few white speckles in the back of my throat.
  • I thought I had strep throat.
  • On Friday I taught class, so I didn't want to miss. I decided to go for lecture and call the doctor office right after that.
  • As soon as I called the doctor's office, they said they could get me in as long as I could make it to their office in 10 minutes. I left my class, and went to the doctor.
  • Of course it had to be snowing outside. Part of that 10 minutes was clearing off my car.
  • The nurse did a throat culture before the doctor even came in.
  • The culture was negative. My doctor gave me an antibiotic.
  • I went back to work.
  • Once I got home, I could barely talk and my ears felt plugged.
  • The boy's and I cuddled.

Drumming on a Tin

  • Isaak found a tin that was to go downstairs.
  • He pounded and Mica laughed.

Sickies

This has been one week!
  • The week started out with Mica getting two timeouts for punching at Aunt Terra's house.
  • Once was when he was wrestling with his cousin Evan.
  • The other time was when his younger cousin Elijah took a toy out of his hand and spit on him. Elijah is only two, he does have a sharing problem and is learning to spit with brushing his teeth.
  • The timeouts could have been disputed because Mica was just defending himself, but he doesn't need to punch in order to solve his problems!

  • Mica got sick to his tummy at Aunt Terra's house.
  • Terra is pregnant and has been sick with a cold that's been lasting for forever. I was and am hoping that no one in their house gets sick!
  • Mica tossed his cookies at the end of being at her house on Monday. Luckily he made it to the toilet! Five years old must be the magic age for hitting the toilet.
  • We went home and cuddled. Mica said he was hungry, so I gave him soup and crackers. He managed to keep those down.

  • Mica acted fine on Tuesday morning.
  • It was me that woke up with body aches all over and a sore throat.

  • Off to preschool Mica went. Usually he goes in without saying too much. That morning Mica walked into preschool and said, "Guess what? I threw up last night!" Daddy had to explain that he was fine. He did however seem like he had a slight cold that afternoon.
  • Mica learned all about Martin Luther King at preschool, and was fascinated.
  • He wanted to color a picture of Martin Luther King, but Daddy couldn't find a brown crayon anywhere! We only have small boxes of crayons. We were joking how Crayola must be racist. The same with Band-Aid for making only peachy flesh colored Band-Aids. They colored him orange, then black on top.
  • Mica told me on the phone, "Martin Luther King was a man that wanted to stop people from fighting!" Daddy had him listen to his speech on YouTube. Mica lost interest because it was so long and over his head.

  • I taught for two days in a row when my cold was the strongest.
  • I hate talking when I know my voice is strained.
  • I had to talk a lot because last week we had a snow day. Major catching up to do.

  • Tuesday night I went home and pretty much crashed on the couch. Both boy's were trying to cuddle with me. I wanted to cuddle with Mica since I knew he had been sick, but with Isaak...well I wanted him to leave us sickies alone.
  •  I don't want Isaak getting what I have. Kind of unavoidable with a two year old. They want whatever their older sibling has. That includes Mommy and Daddy attention!
  • The boy's were bouncing all over me. I drifted into sleep and didn't even care. I slept through their bouncing around.
  • I woke up to Mica digging his foot into my leg and Isaak getting off of me, only to get back on.

  • Drink, drink, drink, pee, pee, pee, sleep, sleep, sleep is what I've been trying to do.
  • Poor Daddy has had to do all the shoveling. I usually don't mind doing some of it. I like the exercise. But I can't be out in the cold getting worse. Daddy has Grandpa Tom's back issues.

  • I'm hoping we're all better soon.
  • I want to go make my rounds to see the Great Grandparents. Great Grandma Kent moved into a home last weekend. Great Grandpa Kent isn't used to her being gone. I want us to go see them, but not if we're sick!

Nose Picking

  • Mica: "Isaak don't pick your nose! That's what monster's do!"
  • Isaak: "Ok Mica." He said it with his finger till shoved up his nose.
  • Usually Isaak picks a booger out, and tries to hand it to me.
  • I'm not sure where Mica got that one! We don't even own Monster's Inc.
  • Mica used to be a really bad nose picker. Now he's on Isaak about it. He tries to be a third parent sometimes.

Isaak Loves His "Pe-ot Burr 'n'Jelwy Shermurch."

  • The title of this post is what was on Daddy's Facebook status today.
  • Isaak asks for Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches all the time now.
  • Not that he gets them all the time.

Wordless Wednesday - Paper Jamz Guitar

  • This was our nephew's gift from us for his birthday.
  • Here he's showing Isaak how to jam! He's so good with his cousin's.

The Most Funny Martin Luthern Kings Day Story I Know!

  • My niece Kailey {cousin to the kids} is now 16 years old. She's the most giving young lady I know! She started up a cheerleading squad for special needs students this year. She thought herself sign language to better communicate with students that use this form of communication.
  • When she was five years old, or so she was in a Martin Luther Kings Day play.
  • She was all excited! She told her mom {my sister, the boy's aunt} all about it.
  • She was the white person that told a brown person to go to the back of the bus. She called African American's "brown". She knew that he was a special man that changed all of that.
  • When she got all done describing the play she said, "I just can't wait for Martha Stuart Kings Day!"
  • My sister was trying hard not to laugh, but was laughing anyhow. She asked again what the special day was called. My niece replied, "Martha Stuart Kings Day!"
  • There you have it: A very special day with a name that was mixed up by a five year old.

Winter Birthday's

  • Last night we went and celebrated cousin Kailey, Ethan's and Uncle Tyson's birthdays.
  • We got Ethan a Paper Jam guitar. That was his biggest gift that he could not wait to open.
It looks like he's thinking,
"Come on people stop talking, so I can figure out what's in this big box!"
Now he looks like he's thinking,
"Finally I can figure out what's in here! Conversation is starting to die off."

  • We got our 16 year old niece Kailey a Starbucks gift card.
  • They put the Starbucks gift card in a Target envelope since it was a Target one that I went to. Totally threw Kailey off! She went from trying to look excited, to excited.
What she said,
"Don't put this on Facebook Aunt Lissy! I always look stupid in the pictures you take."

Train Expo

  • Grandpa Spiehs, Mica, Isaak and I went to a Train Expo at the Qwest Center. My boy's do love trains!
  • Isaak was a little grumpy from the day before {no nap}.

Movie Night

  • We had a movie night at my house on Saturday.
  • The adults watched Inception and the kids watched Despicable Me.
  • It was mostly a family event.
  • The boy's are in Mica's room. I set up the portable DVD player. We would never let Mica have a TV in his room.
  • We made popcorn, cut up carrots, cheese and crackers. Then a friend brought over movie theater candy and Oreo's.
  • The only little boy that disturbed us some is Isaak, the Non-TV watcher. He came out of Mica's room and said, "Ok boy's I'll be back in just a minute!" So cute coming from a two year old.
  • Then he came out, and stood at the coffee table where all the food was at. He wanted an Oreo, but kept looking around at all the adults for approval. Grandpa said he looked just like me when he did that.
  • When the kids were done with their movie I gave them all a toothbrush. Cousin Elijah {the one with blond hair} came to give me his toothbrush. His mouth was all black because he ate an Oreo after he brushed his teeth. Not exactly the order I thought he should do that in.
  • They lined up to make bubbles in the toilet {pee}. By saying the bubble bit, Isaak then loves to go potty.
  • Then Mica went to bed in his bed, Isaak in his bed, Evan and Elijah in our bed.
  • We finished our movie.
