Random Tid Bits

  1. Our whole family has been having a hard time getting up and moving. I think it's because the seasons are switching. It's dark now when we wake up. I can for see the future: This weekend when I can sleep in, I'll wake up early.
  2. My oldest student this year hardly shows up to class. It's usually the younger ones; that are trying to figure themselves out that has the troubles. We're on week 6 of class, we have one class once a week, and he's missing 3 classes in both of my classes. In other words he's been in class 50% of the time. I printed out all the handouts on Monday to try and get him caught up. Yesterday he shows up with nothing to work on. I shook my head on the inside. Then went back to vent in the office.
  3. I have my first blind student in class. I feel for her. At the same time I don't want to coddle her. The real world will not coddle her. It's my job to teach her though. I'm having a difficult time knowing where to draw the line. So far I've let her come to me for help. I don't seek her out in a big way. I noticed that my assistant helped her out a little too much yesterday. She was frustrated over things not going right for her. I helped her in small ways, and I'm trying to get her caught back up; by printing her handout out, and talking with her.
  4. I got an email from a family friend. I swear I haven't seen the guy in 10 years. He just emailed me out of the blue to say, "Do you know anyone looking for design work for a funeral home? We use Microsoft Word." It just kind of hit me odd. Who knows someone looking for work in a funeral home? What designer designs in Microsoft to design? I just sent him back a link to the colleges career page. So if you are looking for work in a funeral home, email me.
  5. My co-worker has been asking me the same exact questions she did last year in regards to one of her projects. She forgets what to use on what for art techniques. I should just record my answers, put a date on the recorder, and play them back before her project.
  6. I was wondering about an old student. I googled his name and saw that he lit his whole family on fire, and was in jail for life. The same name, the same face I swore. I haven't seen him for 10 years. I dug a bit deeper, and found out that convict couldn't be him. He's too old to have been my student. So what is he really doing? I found the real him. He's a cross dresser in England. I have to be honest, I was relieved. Between being a cross dresser and a murder serving a life sentence, I like seeing him being the cross dresser. It's kind of odd for me to be happy about that. Who needs investigators when you have google?
  7. Mica had friends over, and they wouldn't eat my dinner. My kids will eat just about anything. It never fails Mica always asks for dessert. Does he always get it? No! Much of the time I give him a second helping. I think I should keep frozen pizzas in the freezer for when Mica or Isaak have friends over. We can eat junk when they have guests; I guess. What did we have that they wouldn't eat? Spaghetti Squash Pie. I think it's really good.
  8. Daddy and I have been trying to be better about lifting weights at the Y. We feel silly when many of the people have the weights on the heaviest setting. I take it out and put it on the lightest setting, and Daddy puts it on the middle one. Yep we're pretty wimpy compared to many of the people in there.

I didn't know you were a teacher. Kudos to you. I did it for three years and hated it. I'd rather throw myself on a hand grenade than teach a classroom of 42 fifth graders.

LOL yes a cross dress in England is much better than a murdering arsonist.

Spaghetti squash pie? I'm intrigued.

How interesting about your first blind student. I am sure she will do fine and you definitely have the right attitude. You don't want to coddle her, but at the same time you need to teach her. I am sure she will appreciate that.

as for the lifting weights? no matter how small a weight you have it is still more than people that are not there... keep up the great work

I was just thinking about how wimpy I feel at the gym. I always notice people moving the weights up after I have gotten off of them. Makes me feel bad lol. Glad I'm not alone!

I think they have a 90's kind of vibe. I haven't heard them, I liked them both.
