The Bookworm

The Bookworm is in Countryside Village - Omaha, Nebraska. They have a reading night for kids once a month.

I decided that we would give it a try. Both the boys love being read to.

This was an event where kids could wear their pjs and bring a stuffed animal.

Isaak sat their holding his panda.

I had to coax Mica into the room. He was a little stand offish at first because all the kids were younger than him. Once he got in, and got a chair instead of sitting with the little kids he was fine. He actually enjoyed himself a lot. He doesn't get read to as much as he reads himself.

I think age wise it's best for 3 to 5 year olds. The kids younger lost interest, and kept bouncing around. Looking at their site it does say for ages 1 to 5 year olds. My bad. At least it gave Daddy a break.

They read 3 books, sang a song, got a pumpkin craft from Oriental Trading Company and had milk and cookies. Mica did end up choosing to participate in all of the things.

The books were on jungle animals. Here's Isaak ROARING along with the book.

Isaak got to pick out of a hat a name to win one of the books read. He picked his own name. I swear it wasn't rigged. All the pictures in the book were taken at the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium.

I thought it was fun! I kind of wish if an older sibling were to come they'd be asked to be one of the readers. Mica has a really good reading voice. I didn't at all know what to expect. He certainly enjoyed himself.

Fun time for the kids. For ourselve, we buy the books on tape and let them read to us while we drive.

That's a cute idea. My library does a story hour, but it's in the morning - not at night like this. My six year old loses attention easily when he's bored, too LOL.

Have your kids read "The Wind in the Willows" ?

Oh, thank you Alissa! I have a rough time listening to non-fiction stories. I love history stories that are REAL! LOL Thanks for the compliment on my nails.
