Kindergarten Roundup

Isaak had Kindergarten Roundup this week. As soon as we got there the soon to be Kindergartener's went on their way to one of the Kindergarten rooms.

We went off to the library for orientation and paperwork.

I was expecting Isaak to be worried when we picked him up. He was not. He was bouncing all over with excitement.

Mica's already informed us that he's going to walk Isaak to his Kindergarten room everyday.

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

I started doing what I call Sing, Sing a Song Saturday.  I'm going to post one song on Saturdays that the boys or I like.

The song may be part of a movie, a kid's video or just a song we like. I'll try and include why we like it and/or the history of the song/singer.

I love the Indian culture. I haven't listened to hardly any bands from India. In the US you have seek out things that are out of the norm it seems.

I saw a documentary and travelogue series called The Dewarists. The show features musicians that collaborate to make original music in different India locations.

The first episode was with Grammy Award-winning songwriter Imogen Heap. The documentary its self is very interesting. There are a lot of instruments that Imogen Heap has made. The episode was filmed am 475 year old Samode Palace. It's on the outskirts of Jaipur in Rajasthan.

First here is the the collaborated song, Minds Without Fear

If you'd like to watch the documentary about the collaboration, it's really interesting. It is fairly long, but super interesting.

Here is one of Imogen Heap's videos called Lifeline.

Does Spider-Man Wear Underwear Part Two

If you missed my Does Spider-Man Wear Underwear? post, you have to read that first. Sorry it's a must.

My sister Terra had this posted on Facebook yesterday or today:

Captain America, Batman, Superman and Spidey adorably storm a children's hospital
Source

Have you seen that photo before? It's been on the news.

It's window washers dressed up like superheros at a children's hospital in Pittsburgh. Allegheny Window Cleaning Inc. decided that the children needed a little cosplay fun! They dressed up like Captain America, Batman, Superman and Spider-Man.

How great is that?

Some children practically live at the hospital. I'm sure looking out their windows just for that moment gave many of them smiles on their faces! It's the little things!

Again you have to read my previous post, Does Spider-Man Wear Underwear? Do you think these superhero window washers are wearing underwear? That would be Isaak's question. LOL

Bad Hair Day, or Rocker Hair Day?

Isaak's hair look like this one day when he woke up this week:

Never mind his mess. He collects EVERYTHING!

It looked like he had a built in mohawk, or just really messy hair.

Does Spider-Man Wear Underwear?

Isaak was in his room getting his pjs on.

He said,"Mom does Spider-Man wear underwear? If Spider-Man doesn't wear underwear, I don't want to wear underwear!"

I said, "Isaak I'm pretty certain Spider-Man wears underwear." In reality I'm pretty certain I don't really know if Spider-Man wears underwear or not.

I put this on Facebook and these are the comments so far:
  • Pretty certain, but not like 100% certain....Hmmmm
  • How do you know, have you seen it? I vote no underwear, I don't see an underwear line.
  • Thong?
  • Spidey totally wears undies. When he fights bad guys his suit gets torn a lot. He can't be seen swinging home with his stuff hanging out.
Pretty insightful for a 4 year old to ask something that I have no answer for. Of course if Spider-Man doesn't wear underwear I don't want Isaak to be like him.

What do you think? Does Spider-Man wear underwear or not?

Robot Love

Isaak was really excited about this robot t-shirt. I bought it for Valentines day at Gymboree. The robot's chest opens up and says, "4u".

I ordered Mica his shirt online in the store. If you order online, while in their store, they don't charge you shipping and handling. The one I ordered for Mica, doesn't open up, but it's still cute. When they get older their clothes just are not as neat/cute.

WW: Principle's Award {Linky}

Last week Mica got a Principle's Award at school. Each month 1 kid is selected in each grade to receive this award. They still give out Principle Award Certificates for good behavior, but don't hand over the metal very often. He ate lunch with the new principle, got to see his office, sit in his chair and his principle did a magic trick for him.

Last year I felt like it was a little silly to reward kids for what should already be doing. Then I understood what it meant. Kids strive to be responsible and respectful. They feel accomplished after getting rewarded.

That same day Mica was awarded we went out to a local pizza shop called Zios. They give the kids dough to play with before their meal.

Jury Duty

Daddy has been called to have Jury Duty about three times. This time he had to go in.
  • On top of that it snowed.
  • On top of that my parents had to watch Isaak more.
  • On top of that Mica has to go to before, and possibly after school care.
  • On top of that I had to drive all over this morning. Now I know what it's like to be a single mom.
  • On top of that their were a few main street lights out.
  • On top of that I wish I knew when Daddy would be done for the day and for the case he's assigned. I hate the unknown!
Poor Mica thought Daddy would have to sleep in the court house. He thought he wouldn't see him for a long time. I reassured him that Daddy would not be sleeping in the court house.

With all that I'm lucky.
  • Neither of us has ever had Jury Duty.
  • I didn't get into an accident this morning.
  • I have parents that help out. I don't know what I'd do without them!
  • Mica's school is great about before and after care. The kids don't have to go consistently. He seems happy when I pick him up.
  • I'm thankful we have cars now a days that can get around in this stuff.
  • I'm thankful for preschool; that will keep Isaak occupied for part of the time.
  • I'm thankful we live in a small enough city, where it only takes me an hour of driving around town versus in a big city where it would take hours.
As Forest Gump would say, "My Mama always said, 'Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get.'"

A New Winter Coat

If you've been reading my blog for awhile, you'd know that last year I was on a quest for finding a new winter coat. You can read my first post here and my second post here.

This weekend I dropped Mica off to a birthday party and shopped with Isaak. Let me tell you, shopping with one kid is magical. Isaak was so sweet! It was nothing like shopping with the two of them. Usually Isaak hides, crawls on the ground and makes faces in the mirrors. All while Mica's laughing at him. It ends up with me holding Isaak in a football hold around the mall. Then I feel like a horrible mother. Not this time!

Back to the coat. I wasn't happy with Mica's coat when he was in Kindergarten. I needed to find one for Isaak. One that he can wear next year.

I did find one! It's a Kennith Cole Reaction, I got at Younkers. I've never heard of the brand. Maybe it's something special. Maybe it's not.

It's a nice thick coat that's not too puffy. It has get this, a metal zipper! That's what I've been looking for this whole time! It also came with a pair of jeans that has an adjustable waist and a shirt that I don't care for. I'll use it as a messy shirt for him.

Isaak liked it because it was green.

The price was originally $79.50, it was marked down to $49.99. I thought that may be the price. There were all kinds of signs saying, 50% off. I didn't know if that was 50% off original price, or the price marked. Regardless it had a metal zipper and came with jeans. I was getting it. They rang me up and it was $24.99! Score for Isaak and my pocket book! YAY! After season prices are the best!

Mica's Great Aunt Becky AKA Grandma Kent

Mica loves his Great Aunt Becky:

It's my Aunt Becky, which is his Great Aunt Becky, which he sometimes calls, "Grandma Kent". I don't mind that he calls her that. She never had kids of her own and she is like a Grandma to him. Plus it makes me think of my Grandma Kent that past away this fall. I think she'd like that Mica calls Great Aunt Becky, "Grandma Kent".

There were boys running all over and Mica sat on Becky's lap for much of the time we were at my sister Angela's house. I just have to watch him. Like any boy he's a wiggle worm. Aunt Becky got knee surgery done on both knees, awhile ago.

Mica's very huggy, a loving child. He he is singing a high tune. He goofy to!

Blowing Balloons

We put money in balloons for my oldest nephew for his birthday present. The boys were amazed that the money would fit in the balloons. Mica blew up a lot of them. I tied them. Isaak put them in the gift bag. He said at the end, "I almost died tonight! Blowing up those balloons made me loose my breath."

The next day Daddy taught Isaak how to blow up a balloon. He blew one up, and hasn't been able to blow another since then.

Mica has been blowing them up all weekend. Then he's been letting them go. Both boys giggle at the farting sound.

Here's Mica trying to teach Isaak to blow one up:

Then Isaak wanted me to take a photo of him blowing up a balloon that was already blown up. Silly boy!

Here's my nephew that got the package of balloons with money inside. He didn't sit on them to pop them. Instead he popped them all with a knife.
