Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday is all about me discovering something that is different to post. I don't want to post things that you and I have more than likely heard before. I want to find something different. It could be from another country, someone singing from the streets of NY, and more.

This week I'm posting about someone that may look familiar to you. It's Sean Lennon. He looks like a perfect mix of his mom Yoko Ono, and his late Dad John Lennon. His writes and sings music. The trouble is, is that he's always compared to his father. In one interview he got upset because they kept asking about his father. He was there for the release of his newish album. I have to be honest I don't blame him for being upset! It would be horrible to live your life, and feel like it's never your life. He's also had to live with people saying that the one who raised him was responsible for the Beatles breaking up.Why did they break up? No one really knows.

Music wasn't totally hidden by Sean growing up. Yoko and John both decided that they didn't want him to be his own person. They didn't want to tell him what he should be when he grew up.

I think Yoko Ono did a great job raising Sean Lennon. He's 38, a year older than I am. He went to Kindergarten in Japan. He mostly grew up in New York. He shares his birthday with his Dad and Sharon Osbourne, and has hung out with her and Ozzy's kids.

My favorite song of his is Dead Meat.

This chip is long. It's Sean's whole album. I actually like towards the middle of it.

He is an interesting guy, that's for sure! How could you not be with such a crazy cool upbringing?

He was actually at my daughters college about 2 years ago. She regrets that she didn't get to see him perform. There was an exhibit in the Stony Brook University Staller Art Center called "Imagine Peace" and my daughter did get to see that! She was so excited! There was a lot of pictures and drawings and conceptual art from Yoko and John there.

it's sad to always be living in the shadow of someone else.. great that he's still trying to show himself through his music though.

OH man, I can't even imagine how much he has to hear about his dad. No matter how much he loves his dad and how talented he was, it would sting to have that be shadowing you your whole life.
