Reading Buddies

We've been trying to get Mica to work more with Isaak on reading.

It...

A) Helps them bond. Isaak smiles much of the time when Mica reads with him. If it's a harder book Mica reads it. If it's an easy book Isaak reads it. Sometimes they take turns reading pages.

B) Gives them both something to do, while we are busy.

C) Gets Isaak's confidence up with reading. He's doing much better than he did at the beginning of the school year by the way. :)

D) Get's Mica doing something with someone other than himself. Mica has generally been a independent player.

I have to stop what I'm doing sometimes to take pictures. They are just too cute when they read together. They don't always get alone with reading. Mica will say, "Really you don't know how to read that word? Come on Isaak!" Isaak will say, "Mica you just read to me."

Most of the time it's positive though.

Did you like to read when you were little? I have to be honest...I didn't enjoy it until I was in upper elementary school.

That kind of together time is heartwarming for a mom. I love little things like that (which are really the big things in the long run). :)

That is adorable! I sure wish my kids would get along like that. When I was a little girl I loved to read. Today kids would rather play on their electronic gadgets instead of burying themselves in a book. I love your photos of your boys.

I used to love it when my older sister would read to me. I remember she was doing it up until I was in 6th or 7th grade! Great bonding moments, for sure!

So sweet! My oldest brother was 8 years older than me, no time for reading to a little sister. A very bratty little sister, lol.

Reading? Loved it!

That is so sweet. My oldest reads to the little guy sometimes, but usually they each read their own things separately.

What a great way to keep them out of your hair when you are busy. I bet it brings them closer together too.
