Harry

So Mica finished his last Harry Potter book. Do you have any good series that you'd recommend for a little boy that loves to read? This book was over 500 pages. I just don't want him reading something that's too mature for him. He'll be 10 in August.

Here are book series that have been recommened to us:
  • Percy Jackson & the Olympians series
  • Series of Unfortunate Events
  • The Zodiac Legacy series
Mica's the type of kid that wakes up before everyone else on the weekend just to read. He reads so much that Dad gets annoyed. Why does he get annoyed? Because Mica won't do chores because he's reading. I guess if that's our biggest problem with him, he's a good kid.

We've been playing a lot of board games because Mica lacks patients for them. Isaak loves them. We kind of feel as parents that board games are great for Mica, and reading is great for Isaak. We need to get them to equal out a bit.

My oldest will be 11 in August. I won't let him read the Harry potter books yet. The first 2 are ok, but I think he's too young for that dark stuff that comes later. He loves Percy Jackson and a series called 39 clues.

Allison always loved the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. Series of Unfortunate Events is good too!

My son's a big book reader too. I'm glad. :)
I bet the Percy Jackson books would be good to read!

Reading is such a great quality to cultivate and playing board games is a good family bonding activity. It's fantastic that you're spending time and effort on what each boy likes.

Mica did read Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series. In a few cases he read some books twice.

I hear a LOT of things about that 39 clues or whatever... not sure what it is called, but it seems popular.
What about the Hardy Boys or something like that? (*Are they still around?!)

Didn't there used to be the boys sequel to the Nancy Drew mysteries?
