Family Birthday Party

Over Memorial Day weekend we celebrate May birthdays in my family. My son Isaak turned 7, my nephew Evan turned 10, and my littlest nephew Edison turned 1.

It's always a struggle knowing what to do with the theme for all the different kids. Isaak loves gold, and Evan loves movies. We went with a movie theme.

My sister came up with the cake she wanted. She made the cake, and got the popcorn containers, I cut out the holes in the reels and painted them gold, made the clapper, and we both worked on the film strips. I printed the pictures, cut the strips, we glued them down with star punches, and she laminated them.

I thought it turned out pretty cute! I made a 2nd dessert because Isaak swore he didn't like cake. He swore he wanted crêpes with mixed fruit, and chocolate sauce. I made the crêpes, cut all the fruit, and made the chocolate sauce. Then Isaak asked for cake! #facepalm It's ok he ate a crêpe to. Other people enjoyed crêpes as well. A few people didn't know what crêpes were.

I took a lot of photos of Edison. Why? Because he turned a year old. He's just plain cute! It's always fun watching kids eat cake for the first time.

I gave Evan a Boggie Board LCD Writing Tablet. It's perfect because they are going out of town soon, and he can use it in the car. I gave Edison Tobbles a balancing toy. Both I got when I won the Fat Brain toys Gift Card at Christmas time.

Mica likes Edison! So does Isaak, but that day Isaak was playing basketball with his cousin Elijah that is the same age as him.

My sister Terra said, "I know Edison needs a hair cut. When it's cut he'll loose all his curls." I said, "Leave his hair alone. It's soft, curly, and cute." I'm sure he'll get a hair cut soon.

Grandma and Grandpa did something new this year. They take the boys out, let them pick their gifts, and went out to eat. Isaak said he wanted to go to McDonalds. My parents just got back from a trip, where they ate at McDonalds more times then they preferred, so they settled on Smash Burger. Isaak picked out paper, a projector, and a colored pencil set from Michaels. They wrapped it in gold paper to give to him at the party.

Aunt Terra gave Isaak a loom, gold and silver yarn. I still need to look over that to help him with it.

Aunt Angela gave Isaak a pass to go out to a museum, zoo, or movie, and a place to eat. He's going to the new Avengers movie, and McDonalds. I told her to take him to that because honestly I have no desire to see it. They both want to see it.

What's the most unusual gift you've given to someone?
