Random Tid Bits

  1. Mica's slowly stopped the blinking all the time thing. Travis took him to the doctor last week. I just wanted to make sure he didn't need glasses; considering that he was squinting too. I called to see how it went. Travis: "They said they think there is a parasite in his eyes." He said they had to swab his eyes, send samples out to be tested, and that antibiotics would be expensive if it came back positive. I of course believed him. For the record his eyes are fine. They think he has a tic, which does mean he has Tourette Syndrome.

  2. Isaak has a pretty close group of friends. What would you do if all the sudden one of the so called friends kept saying, "You're not my friend anymore. I only need 2 friends. You're not one of them."? I know kids have issues.

This one kid is starting to piss me off. I'm not even Isaak. What's really annoying is that the punk kid is around his other 2 good friends all the time. I sound like a girl in high school talking about someone that just broke up with him, "Isaak it's not you, it's him." I'm going to talk to his teacher about it at conferences to see if she has any wise words to share with me. I was hoping it would blow over, but it's been going on for awhile now.

  3. Isaak has another thing he has to deal with. He gets to school early because Mica has Safety Patrol. Another little girl in his class shows up early for the same reason. Isaak chats with her. They've always been friends. When a bunch of kids come to breakfast they say, "Oh look Isaak's with his girlfriend!" I said, "Isaak that's silly. Just tell them she's your friend only. Otherwise let it roll off your back. Artists that that are girls who hang out with Dad I joke about them being his girlfriends. They aren't really. It's just something I say." I had to explain what, "Let it roll off your back" meant. I hope that advice is good enough.

  4. Did you see the Corey Feldman's video Go For it on the Today show? It was so bad. I like him in older movies, but this music career is odd. Go watch it here. It's a song about taking a stand for the United States, but he threw the flag on the floor.

  6. I'm not a big meme person, but found the one below funny. Have you watched Curb Your Enthusiasm with Larry David? It's one of Travis' favorite shows. I like that you don't have to watch the show in order to get it. If you liked Seinfeld you'll like Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry David wrote Seinfeld

  7. Source
I say, "Hi!" in a friendly voice to students all the time. Some are really friendly back, while select few don't say anything at all. Awkward! I'd rather them say, "Hey, mind your own business. How about that?" to me, than to give me the silent treatment. At least it wouldn't be as awkward. It's acknowledging that they heard me. Ha!

Sunset

Last night we went to Wenninghoff's Farm for the boy's school. It was a fundraiser.

We only spent slightly over an hour there.

The perk was the pumpkin patch area. We grew pumpkins, so we didn't pick out pumpkins. It was just really pretty.

We spent the rest of the time talking with other parents, and running around.

Self Hair Cut Clipper Pro System Review

Travis cuts his own hair most of the time. He also cuts Isaak and Mica's hair when they want it short.

I'm so happy to share with you: Self Hair Cut Clipper Pro System that I got for review.

The grooming trimmers pot set has a unique curved handle. This allows for a better grip on the handle. The blade will cut without problems. No more twisting funny at the wrist to try and cut a spot.

There is a cord that comes with the set. The cord is just for recharging the battery that comes in it. The battery is a lithium battery that can be used for over 60 minutes. The battery lasts 3 times longer than most batteries.

The set does have a detachable blade heads which can set in 4 different directions to help reach all tough spots. There are 6 combs for different cuts. 2 are for sideburns.

There was one that was bent.

All attachments are rinsable for an easy clean, washable with water and air dry.

Extras:

The only thing I miss with photos that I'm super excited about is the hair cutting cape. That's going to be great to use on the boys. It was hidden under everything.

Have you ever cut someone's hair?

Flavored #motionmatcha Green Tea with Real Fruit - Review

I feel better when I have greens in my daily diet. I have steamed kale or collard greens in the morning, spinach leaves in my smoothie and at times matcha tea at work.

Matcha tea makes me feel energized without feeling jittery like when I drink coffee.

Recently I got Flavored Matcha Green Tea with Real Fruit to review.

Flavors:
  • It comes in a plain Matcha flavor. Cost: $34.99
  • I got Matcha with Strawberry and Lemonade. I like that they use real fruit for the flavoring. I really do love the taste! It has a more of a lemonade after taste. Cost: $38.99

There's Only 2 That Could Use Improvement:
  1. The bag was not very full. I'm ok with how much I got. You really only need 1 small spoonful for each drink. What I have will last for a long time! I just wish it was in a smaller bag, so less waist goes in the landfill.

  2. Like any Matcha it will clump up a bit. This isn't something against this brand. All Matcha's clump up. You can have a small whisk handy. I put it in a container with a lid, so I can shake it up before and mid drink.

Will I Buy This Again?

Yes! I like the flavor. Even better is the health benefits. Japanese Match is good for me. I like how it makes me feel awake. Being a teacher I have to pretend to be wide awake, and happy all the time. This is a better alternative to coffee.

It's Nice That This Can Be Consumed Different Ways:
  • Cold with water *Like I have shown.
  • Hot with water *Great for when I'm sick, or have a bad allergy day.
  • In a smoothie with other things *Just a little bit goes a long way.

Isaak liked his sip of Motionmatcha.

WW: Let Me Take Your Picture {Linky}

Me: "Hey boys let me take your picture."

Me: "Come on just stand there normal."

I always loved Isaak's shirt, which was originally Mica's. I got it from a company called Dogwood. The presidents were in a band. On the back is a list of them.

Shape Logic - A New Game By @ThinkFun

I love games! I actually like tangible games more so than computer games. I just think that many of them push learning, reasoning, skills, strategies.

With video games I find myself zoning out to those. I just play them to take me away from reality.

Think Fun sent me a new game to try called Shape Logic. You can soon get it on Amazon for $19.99. It's the perfect gift for Christmas - if you celebrate that holiday. Otherwise just get it for no reason other than to play it. :)

Shape Logic isn't out in the mass market just yet. I have to admit when I get a game I search how to play it before reading the instructions. I've always been such a visual learner. Lucky for me...their instructions are visual. They have words + pictures.

The game is ages 8 and up. It's perfect for my boys ages 8 and 11.

How to Play:

There is a set of 50 challenges ranging in difficultly
  • Beginner
  • Intermediate
  • Advanced
  • Expert
  • Genius

I started out with the Beginner. I could see Isaak in Beginner and Intermediate. Mica would be in Advanced, Expert and Genius.

The box holds everything needed to play. If you decide to, you could use the bag that comes with the game. All the pieces fit inside that too.

This game has no board. Just cards and pieces.

You can see in the picture below there's 2 sides. You find those pieces, and try to match the position on each side.

Challenge 2:

It looks easy enough. That's because I was on the Beginner deck. I'm a beginner + I was fighting daylight to take photos.

You can watch the puzzles get more challenging:

If you're a visual person like me I created a video to show you how to play.

I love Think Fun games just because they make one think.

I sometimes like multiplayer games, but there are other times where I find myself saying to Isaak, "Go do something!" This is something he can do on his own.

This is a STEM game:
  • Science
  • Technology
  • Engineering
  • Mathematics
These are all topics that we could improve upon. Not only does this game help to be better at STEM, puzzles and games like these reduce the risk of Dementia related illnesses in the future. I'm going to play the more advanced cards. ;) My Grandma died from having Dementia. I need to do as many puzzle type things as I can.

I love that this game can fit into a classroom setting. We make curriculums for our boys during their winter, spring and summer breaks. I'm going to add Shape Logic to that.

What is your favorite game?
