WW: Proud of Isaak {Linky}

I thought about mortifying you all with my allergy photos that were taken yesterday, but decided to save that for another day. I had back prick tests done, breathing treatments, and a huge talk. Needless to say I'm more than likely going to need surgery. I have the biggest polyps in my nose that the allergist/asthma specialist has ever seen. I can thank my allergy to Ibuprofen for that. Ibuprofen basically gets me sneezing, and then my lungs start to shut down. If you're an allergy/asthma sufferer like me you kind of need to reduce swelling, but I can't because I'm allergic to what would help me. Therefore polyps happened. I now have an appointment to see an ENT doctor later next month. In the meantime I have a bag of meds. Enough about my breathing problems.

I'll focus on this little guy Isaak:

This is an image in a dressing room. Isaak from different sides.

Isaak doesn't really have a medal for what all he's done. I'm super proud of him. A kid joined his school that only speaks Spanish. His teacher paired up the child with Isaak. Isaak helps him connect with his favorite learning websites in Technology class, he eats lunch near him, he points to things to tell him what they are in English, and he plays basketball with him at recess.

The child's name is Benjamin, but the j is pronounced like a h. Isaak calls him what he wants to be called. His teacher calls him the English version of his name.

I'm just proud that he's a little leader. I think it makes him proud as well.

Aww! just read that and I would be proud of him too you never know the lad might teach Isaak some Spanish along the way :-)

I think the teacher should be told how to pronounce Benjamin's name and should use that pronunciation. Just because he is now in the US doesn't mean his name should be Americanized.

I totally agree Sandra. Their teacher is really nice, and much more accepting than most. I'm sure it's not purposeful. My name is Alissa - said like Alyssa Milano. Because I'm 40 and there isn't a lot of Alissa's or Alyssa's in my generation I get Elise (like the mom in Family Ties) from people that are not from here, or older people. I get Melissa from others. A pastor when I was growing up called me Allison. I'd correct them the first few times, then got used to it.

I named both my kids different names, but ones that could be pronounced. Mica (a shiny silicate mineral) and Isaak (which is like Isaac). Mica gets Meka. Both their names get spelled wrong. We just live with it.

Steve- Ya Isaak may learn some Spanish along the way. A language that's surpassing English in many places.

Deborah- I am doing all I can right now to take care of myself. Lots of meds. I even ordered new water filters to help do the nasal cleanse. I see the ENT later in March, and the Allergist/Asthma doctor early April.

There's a fellow named Matt who had that same operation you are going to have to have. He had some advice for you that sounded pretty practical. He left it on your last comment at my place. If you can't find it I will do a cut and paste into an email and send it to you. Just let me know.

I've always said you raised your kids right.

Well, I'm not going to be different because I agree with everyone else... you have a really good boy there. If you weren't proud I would think there is something wrong with y'all. I know if he were my kid I'd give him a big hug..... just because!!!

Wow! I love that Isaak is helping Bejamin! And even pronouncing his name the way he wants it pronounced. That's absolutely wonderful. Both your kids always seem so friendly, helpful, smart, and well behaved! :)

Aww he's a sweetheart. It's the little things that show character and I like how he calls the kid the way he likes to be called to make him feel comfortable :)

I hope you recover soon!!

I love that he jumped right in and helped the new kid at school! Such a kind, compassionate kid that will grow up to have many friends, I'm sure!

Hope your breathing issues get under control soon! Jason just went to the ENT doctor today. He has a deviated septum, but I don't know if he'll be getting surgery to fix that. They are going to be doing some kind of sleep/breathing treatments first.
