Random Tid Bits

  1. We're having a garage sale this weekend. I literally can't walk in my living room right now.

  2. Travis got this pink luffa because it was in a set, and the boys wouldn't go for it. He's had it for awhile. I pulled it out of the shower and said, "Maybe you should sell this at our garage sale." I started cracking up so hard, I nearly fell over. I asked, "How much do you think we could get for it?" I started cracking up again. He's like, "What is your problem?" I couldn't help it, I thought it was so funny.

  3. Just when you think it's going to be a normal school year, something crazy happens. I was talking with a student when no one else had come into the room. I asked, "Do you have roommates that go to school here, or do you live with your parents?" She said, "I have 3 roommates, but plan to have 2 really soon." She went on to say, "One of my roommates brought drugs into our apartment. We agreed that, that wasn't something that was allowed." Somehow the landlord found out. It was a big mess, and we're only on week 2.

  4. Another student came up to me at the end of the day. She said, "You're a Mom. Maybe I can ask you this..." She puts her leg up on the table and said, "Why is my ankle swelling?" I said, "Well it's really humid out. My glasses fogged up just when I went outside. Sometimes legs have fluid that builds up in wet heat. You can put your legs up when you go home. That might help." She just walked away.

  5. Isaak's quite the character. He doesn't pay attention when anyone drives him anywhere. This morning I took him to school, for the first time. I said, "When we get there, please tell me where to go. I've never dropped you off before." He said, "Don't talk to me. You're talking too much." I proceeded to talk to myself the rest of the way there out loud. He was annoyed, but so was I. I asked him a question, he refused to answer me, and I passed the street up on accident I needed to turn at. Apparently this is a very big deal. I went where the busses went, apologized to the lady in charge, and she told me where to get back on that street. Isaak still acted clueless, when we got up toward the drop off. It ended with me saying, "You need to pay more attention when people take you places!" He said, "You're the parent, and I'm the kid." Ya kind of annoying! Have you ever messed up a drop off, or pick up line?

I saw the funny on Facebook about the yard sale and laughed at you laughing. :)

Students do bring us a plethora of surprises, don't they?! We have to do these emotional circles in the mornings and my students really surprise me. In good and bad ways.

School drop off and pick up has always been a pain to me.

I love that your student asked you to mom-diagnose her. lol. That's funny.

Hope you sell lots of things at your garage sale! Let us know how much you get for the used luffa! ;) lol.

I often wish I had written down some of the funny/brilliant/profound things students said to me during my 30+ year teaching career. Thanks for sharing these student snippets with us. Kind of makes me wish I was back in school.

She wanted your medical opinion because you're a mom? How odd? I always just tell my girls, "I don't know. But looks like you'll live" lol.

I thought the pick up/drop off line days were done for me, but now that we have Leah, I have another 2 years tacked back onto that mess. It puts me in a mood every morning too because other parents are stupid, double park, or their kids take too long to get out of the car and I'm stuck waiting until the line moves forward.
