Invitation

  • I just finished up designing the invites for Isaak's first birthday. Please click on them to see them larger. Everything is on one 8 1/2x11 sheet of paper, and folds up into a card. I put it on here in sections, so nothing would appear upside down.
  • I scanned in torn colored papers I got from a paper exhibit I went to for work.
  • The horse I did find on the internet, but I tweaked it a lot. The colors are very different from the one I found. I used the clone tool in Photoshop to remove the image on Isaak's shirt; then added the horse on his shirt with multiply set on the layer. The type was done in Illustrator.

Ball

  • Isaak likes to hold balls. He doesn't quite get how to throw yet.
  • I keep trying to get him to say, "Ball". He doesn't get that word yet.

New Camera

  • We got this camera today.
  • It's definitely a step up from our last one; which we bought at least five years ago.

Isaak Steps it Up

  • Isaak will stand on his own for seconds at a time.
  • He'll take a 1/2 step; then go down.
  • Travis told me that he'll probably walk this weekend while he's at work.
  • I have yet to get him to stand on his own. He always does his standing with Travis.
  • Travis said that he sees a since of confidence in Isaak when he does this. We noticed things like this more with our second kid.
  • In the flick above, you can see at the end that both boys are quick to take things from each other.

I Won Again!

  • I found out yesterday that I won a toothbrush holder.
  • I won it off of, www.feistyfrugalandfabulous.com
  • They have other animals too on, www.myflipperusa.com
  • I think it will go with our rug in the bathroom. It has lines in it. They didn't have a duck, or frog one. Oh well. The kids will still enjoy!
  • I got the book I won. It's so much fun. Both boys love it!
  • Then I had a past student, the same day I got the book in the mail come in and give me a whole box of wooden blocks from www.fatbraintoys.com. They are a little different then normal blocks. Lots of fun shapes. He works there, and creates all their design work from packaging to their website. Their store is a lot of fun! If you are looking at this, and live in Omaha visit their retail store! It's by Village Point. Otherwise check out their website! Very unusual toys; you wouldn't find at most other stores. They've won lots of toy awards.

Chick

  • I forgot to blog about this last week.
  • Travis and Mica were talking about cute girls. Travis asked in regards to one of them, "Mica is she a cute chick?" Mica said, "No Daddy, she's not a chick! Chicks come out of eggs!" Silly him.

Preschool Pictures

  • These are Mica's preschool pictures.
  • He likes the top one. The smile looks a little forced, but at least he smiled. The others, he's throwing his jaw forward.
Evan, the red head is his cousin. He's in Mica's class. One of Mica's best friends.
  • I'm assuming that the class was told to act crazy in the whole class photo on the bottom. As you can see, Mica had no problem with acting like a nut.

Itsy Bitsy Spider

Isaak now knows how to make the spider climb up the water spout. He's getting good with his actions.

Busy Weekend

  • We went to the Henry Doorly Zoo on Saturday.
  • We went to The Hot Shops Open House on Sunday.
  • It was nice having company in town to see us. We had a full house. Kim and Neil slept downstairs with Niko in the Pack n Play. Mark and Shelly slept upstairs in the living room on an air mattress. Our table isn't that big to seat that many people; so we all scattered after getting our food.
  • Isaak played well with Niko, our friend's from college son. He's 8 months. Isaak did have a couple incident's where he pulled Niko's hair.
  • Mica likes to put together puzzles in the living room; both babies wanted to eat the pieces.
  • We wore the boys out! Mica and Isaak fell asleep in the car rides home both days. Niko fell asleep in the stroller at both places.
  • Sunday morning we let both babies get in good naps. It's not like the days where we could go where we wanted at any time. Babies change your life.
