Now on with the post...A few weeks ago we went to Hitchcock Nature Center in Iowa. It's only $2 to get into the park. There's a lot of explore. It's located on the Loess Hills.
The first thing we did was climb their observation tower.
Here's the view:
Here are 3 of the 4 of us. Isaak wasn't in the mood for getting his picture taken.
Looking down from the tower:
We went hiking on a trail and saw some pretty close-ups:
I could have take 500 photos of these poisonous berries:
A hungry little caterpillar:
A field of flowers:
The boys really enjoyed hiking. I on the other hand was lagging behind. I was fasting for a medial procedure (all is ok). I don't do well with fasting though. I just wanted to faint. I took my time by taking photos.
We got to one more spot with a really pretty view.
Mica was the only one that would let me take his photo. He's my handsome knight.
Do you like to go hiking? Is there a place within driving distance to hike at from where you live?
I love hiking, and this would quickly become a favorite spot for our family! The views are so pretty! Happy Birthday to Travis :)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful views. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your husband
It looks like a beautiful park, but can someone so old still hike? Happy birthday to your young husband.
ReplyDeleteThat looked like fun I enjoyed the photos and a big Happy Birthday to hubby :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a birthdaytastic week :-)

Oh My Heartsie Girl
Hope you have a great week!
Awww such a lovely place to visit! Happy birthday to your husband =)
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful. That looks like a nice place to visit and go hiking. We have a bike trail out here that we sometimes take the kids on. Usually we walk because not all our kids know how to ride a bike. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI am not an outdoor person. Once I get hot, its over.. nothing cools me down but a shower. Add to that, all mosquitos and what not find me. lol. So, nope, no hiking here. It's also hot as anything, so no thanks... Great pics and looks like you had a blast!
ReplyDeleteside note
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRAVIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice macros of the berries and the caterpillar.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great price to get in. We had a similar place in Michigan that I loved to explore.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your husband. :)
41 isn't so bad. Wish I was 41 again!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a really nice place to hike. You can see so far around you. Here, unless you are up on a ridge line or mountain top, the trees close you in and you can't even see the sky most of the time, let alone any vista.
I "walk" around a local lake with the wife, but we don't go up on the Appalachian Trail and do day hikes like we used to. Just too hard at our age.
I'm surprised you even tried to hike with the fasting going on. The views were pretty, but I can't even imagine doing that while feeling weak!
ReplyDeletehappy belated birthday to Travis! And I can see you enjoyed the day out..
