This is Water

In the mad rush of today's world we often take things, and people for granted. I'm just as guilty as the next person.

No matter how high and mighty I'd love to appear, I'm not perfect. I'm far from it.

I step in line at a store, see that the cashier is taking what I feel as FOREVER, when really it's just longer than usual. I have no clue what they've been through that day, no clue what the person before me went through. They may have had a less quality of day than I have, or not. There's no way to know.

I think we (anyone out there including me) have to learn not to take things for granted. This video is a great explanation of all this. It's a wonderful speech that was given to a graduation class. The speech was so good that they turned it into a short film. When you watch it, the title of this post will make sense.

  1. This actually made me tear up because it's so darn true on any given day, and it really, really made me think.

Thank you so much, and I truly, truly mean that.

  2. WOW.

I actually saw how long this was and wasn't going to watch it....but I am glad I did. Although if I was a kid, I don't know how much they'll get it necessarily, but it really hit home for me.

  3. The beginning was quite funny. The story is so true though. While I'm guilty of being impatient with others from time to time, I do try to live my life like the message is saying. My husband got irritated once at a car that had those stick figure people stickers on the back. It was just a husband and wife. He was like, What, they don't want kids but still want the figures on their car? What's up with that? I pointed out that maybe they couldn't conceive and that's why they didn't have stick kids on the car. He felt like a real jerk after that. We never know other peoples situations. It's so easy to sit on the sidelines and judge.

Great video. I hope more people take the time to watch it!

  4. Oh My.... makes you stop and think doesn't it. I get very annoyed with my Hubs for getting so annoyed at everyone who drives slower than he does. You never know what is going on with others until you walk in their shoes.
