Dentist Birthday Party??!!??

Mica asked us, "Mom, Dad, can I have my friend birthday at the dentist office this year."
Daddy and I looked at each other like we were both thinking, "?????????
Daddy asked, "Why do you want to have it at the dentist office?"
Mica said, "Because it's fun there!"
I wouldn't exactly call our dentist office fun. It's dated in it's decor, is a family dentist office, not a kid dentist office.
Daddy and I both said, "No."
Mica had that whine look on his face and said, "Why?"
Daddy said, "Because they don't offer parties at the Dentist office."
Mica said, "Fine! Maybe I can have it in the lobby then!"
That's where the big fish tank is.
Daddy said, "No you can not have a birthday party at the dentist office. No one can go in to get their teeth cleaned if you and your friends are all hanging out at the lobby. Plus they don't offer kid's birthday parties there."

What a strange request.

Do you like going to the dentist? I find it to be just one of those things I have to do. I don't particularly like it.

  2. I despise the dentist, absolutely hate it. I clench my fists the entire time I'm there and all my muscles in my body are exhausted from being tense during the exam. I absolutely HATE it!

  7. I HATE the dentist and don't go. Ever. I will suffer and die before I go back. The last time I went he poked my nerve so hard it made labor look like kid's play. It hurt so bad I jumped and then he SCREAMED at me that if I ever did that again he'd rip my face open with his sharp tool and it would be MY fault, NOT HIS!

Thinking back I wish I would have punched him in the balls and told him that was his fault, not mine, then walked away, but when you are in that much pain, thinking just doesn't flow.

  8. It is odd, but that's great that he likes the dentist so much. I am terrified of the dentist and I am pretty much with Theresa on this one - I will die before I go.

  10. Whew, that's the last place in the world, ever, that I want to linger. Well, maybe not the last, but it's up there. ;)

You have a cool/funny story to tell about him wanting it there though, when he's grown. :)

  11. It is a nec. thing, but no parties for me. Maybe having a party there would be a great way for all the parents of the other kids that attend to get their kids to the dentist. Most kids running screaming from, so perhaps your son would get extra-nice gifts from appreciative parents. ~Mary

  12. Haha, that's quite a request! If I were invited as a guest, I'd decline. I avoid dentists unless absolutely necessary.
