Polly Plastics Silicone Molding Putty Review

Travis was super excited when I got Polly Plastics Silicone Molding Putty to review. He's always making molds for sculpture, rings, and teeth for his full time job.

The package design is just ok. I'm quick to judge with that.

It comes with a Part A and a Part B. They have to be mixed up in equal parts.

Travis decided he wanted to a cast of a fossil lepidodendron. He found a few of them when he was younger. He loves the texture on them. He plans to use the texture in some of his sculptures. First he sprayed it with a mold release.

Then he mixed up Part A and Part B equally to put over the fossil.

Here he is mixing the both parts together. It's a little sticky, but not so sticky that it sticks to your fingers.

Here he's pushing it into the fossil.

He stuck holes in it, so he could put a harder shell over it.

The instructions said the mold would set up in 4 minutes. It took a lot longer than that. It was a little flimsy.

It didn't pick up a lot of texture in the middle, but there isn't a lot of texture in the middle of the fossil.

Buy this on Amazon for $24.95 $18.95. Made in the USA.

Other Uses Besides Sculpture:
  • Molds for soaps
  • Molds for candy
  • Candle Molds

  1. This stuff also looks pretty neat! I want to start making my own soaps, maybe this summer, and I think this would be really handy for the molds!
