We were driving to our hotel, and noticed this abandon castle:
I didn't know why such a cool building was abandon like that. Thankfully I have tons of friends that live in the Kansas City area. One told me it's the Vine Street Castle also known as Workhouse Castle.
Here's what it looked like when it was first built:

Now the limestone structure has no roof, or flooring.
They plan on repurposing the building to be a theater. I hope it happens.
Is there an old abandon building by where you live?
That is a great looking castle. I hope it is renovated into a theater. That would be cool. We do have lots of abandoned homes in our town. I pass by this abandoned pink house on my way to school every day....it's eerie and sad at the same time. The yard is all overgrown, it needs a makeover for sure....
ReplyDeleteI wish there was an interesting building like the castle near me. Other than some houses that are in foreclosure no abandoned buildings.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos such a shame it's abandoned :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a castletastic week :-)
What a cool building with a lot of history. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThat is a cool building with great history. I hope that they keep it and turn it into something cool.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing those get abaondoned. I lived in a city that had a jail that had a lot of 'castle-like' features. So weird...but I guess it could make sense. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat and beautiful building with a wonderful story of it's own to tell.
ReplyDeleteI understand a lot of old castles sell for super cheap because no one can afford the upkeep of these drafty old places.
ReplyDeleteSo sad that something so beautiful would be left to rot like that. I do hope they are able to restore it and turn it into something useful!
ReplyDeleteSo sad to see such a magnificent castle abandoned. Hope someone will restore it to its former glory.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday, A!
Such a shame it was abandoned! It would make an amazing theater.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful indeed, Alissa. I would definitely spend so much time here taking pictures :)
ReplyDeleteThey definitely need to restore it!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know there were castles in the US. Big houses–yes. Castles–no. Although I guess it wasn't a "real castle", just looks like one. I bet it would make for an amazing theater! There is no good reason architecture like that should not be reused rather than sit abandoned.
ReplyDeleteWow that's the best-looking jail I know! :P How majestic!
ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka
We have lots of old castles here and ruins that are toutist attractions! This one looks lovely and yes I hope they would use it again.
ReplyDeleteHow neat! It would be nice if it was restored. A beautiful place like that shouldn't be left to sit and rot.
ReplyDeleteWould make a great theatre!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there were castles in the US! Was it as cool on the inside?
