Where's the Power?

I woke up in the middle of the night to no power. I think I tried a few switches with no success. I woke up Travis and told him to check the news.

Sure enough some guy or girl was speeding down a main street by our house. They hit a power pole. Their car was in flames. Someone thought he may be inside the car, but he wasn't. He ran off. I don't know if he was drunk, high, or just scared because he was speeding.

The boys went to go to school this morning. They get dropped off early because Mica has safety patrol. The before and after care group was walking down the street. Travis asked what was going on? The staff member in charge said, "There's a gas leak scare. Don't drop the kids off at school!" Travis took them to his work.

The boys were supposed to have their holiday program today. I haven't gotten a text, or an email from the school. I imagine there was chaos there!

I didn't get a message from their school until 9. Our gas company went to check out the smell. Everything is fine. I'm glad they didn't let students in the building if they smelled gas. I sure wish they would have sent a message right away to prevent chaos from happening.

Luckily Travis had deliveries to make for work. He dropped the boys off then.

  2. I guess you have to be pretty flexible to deal with all that. Losing power on a work night is rough, especially if you get up and can't take a shower or brush your teeth.

Wonder how that car blew up? Pretty rare for one to catch fire from a crash, but maybe that person was just out of luck all the way around that night! ;-)

  3. That's nuts! At least the person lived to walk away from that crash, but what a knucklehead!

That gas leak sounds scary, but glad the boys are safe and sound!

  4. Smelling gas at the school is definitely a good reason to not take the kids in. That's too bad about the speeder, oy!

  5. Wow. Scary. We sometimes get too many alerts for things here, but I would rather be safe than sorry

  7. How crazy that the school didn't call or inform you (and other parents) until the kids were already being dropped off. Glad the driver was ok.
