WW: MyHeritageDNA {Linky}

My parents got me a DNA test kit for Christmas.

I was alway curious as to what I am. I knew where many of my relatives came from, except my Grandpa on my Mom's side. He swears he's English, but he has dark skin, and a wide nose. I thought for sure he had Native American or African in him.

Here were my results:

I guess I'll never know what my Grandpa is. He's 91 and still kicking, but would have no desire to do a DNA test. Maybe I get my 1.1% Middle Eastern from him.

It didn't really matter to me where I came from other than the fact that I was curious. I kind of wanted to figure my Grandpa out through my test. Ha!

Do you know where your relatives come from? Would you take a DNA test? Does it matter to you where you come from?

  1. I'd love to do a DNA test. It would be fun to know where I come from though it doesn't really matter. I am just curious like you.

    Happy WW, A!

  2. I always wanted to do one of those DNA tests too. I'm really a mixed bag, so it would be nice to narrow it down a bit. That's cool that you had yours done and were able to get more clarity about your ancestry.

  3. As far as a DNA Test.. we have done a family tree and that's all I really need to know. It's really no biggy to me. We've gone all the way back to my great-grandparents and our family is HUGE! Have a great week my friend and I hope you had a great Easter! hugs

  8. I'm pretty connected with my family history, and I'm pretty happy with what I know. My grandfather just hit his 100th birthday, and most my grandparents have made it well into their 90's, so at least I know what to expect on length of life, eh? There's definitely value in knowing where you come from.

  10. I should try this as well. I have heard what my lineage is but I wonder if it would be reflected that way or not. Pretty neat!

  11. For me, I couldn't care less but for my mum and my husband, they go on and on about it, so it's clearly a thing of interest for most people....

  18. I'm not too interested in giving anyone a sample of my DNA. And can you really trust the results? I bet it was fun getting them, though. It's a shame you are no closer to figuring out your grandfather though…
