EZ Grip Bike Light Review

Mica pretty much is a duplicate of his Dad. He just gets silly like me sometimes. Daddy and Mica love to ride their bikes. I think Isaak will like riding to once he figures it out.

I got the Lumenx - EZ Grip Bike Light to review. It's $19.99, but on sale for $14.99 on Amazon. Mica was so excited about it! He loves getting stuff in the mail. I feel like he's safer having a light on his bike. Sometimes Daddy looses track of time. I can just see them starting a trail when it's light outside, and then it getting dark when they finish it.

Right away Mica wanted it installed. We got it right before we went on vacation. It only took a few minutes to install it. It also has an easy integrated clip feature which allows quick mounting and fits around any handlebar, seat post and frame tube. The light can be mounted on any bike: Mountain Bike, Street Bike, or a Children's Bike. The light consists of a front bike light and a rear tail light.

You just push the top to turn the light on. There's a flashing light for an emergency situation. There's also a light that stays on when you're in the dark, or if the weather is cloudy. There are 4 modes all together: Constant, Strobe, Disco Strobe and Epileptic Fit Strobe. The lights are made out of a high quality silicone material. The silicone is water resistant, which is great for emergencies.

Here's the Flashing Light

Here's the Light that Stays On

This is the Light That Goes On the Back of the Bike

The back like wouldn't stay straight. That was the only problem we had with it.

LumenX offers the new high quality dual energy efficient LED bike light. They are super bright, with 90 lumens and provide up to 150M safe use.

The EZ Grip Bike Light has an energy saving feature. It can last up to 130 hours of flashing and 25 hours of constant light.

The batteries were included.

Satisfaction is 100% guaranteed.

Little man is a happy rider.

Survivor Dude

If you remember before I went on vacation Mica went to Hummel Day Camp. I posted about it here and here.

BTW his rash only lasted about 4 days. That makes me wonder if it wasn't bug bites. Anyhow he's good. I gave him probiotics to help get him back to normal. When I read about chiggers AKA red bugs they kind of matched what he had as well. The only thing you can do to avoid them is to stay away from that particular spot, or wash you skin hard with soap and water.

He has the same camp coming up next week, so we'll see if he looks all rashy or bug bity then. He always takes a bath after camp, but he's at camp all day long. It's kind of hard to avoid them all together.

The Friday at the end of the camp they had a family night. They sing their songs, and do a skit. Then the kids are awarded for something.

Last year Mica was awarded the Robin Hood Award. He was pretty into archery that year.

This year Mica was awarded as the Survivor Dude Award. I guess he came to camp talking about Indiana Jones every day. They thought that award was a the most fitting. I'll be interested to see what award he gets next week.

If you were a camp councilor what award would you make up?

Organic Black Matcha #Tea #Giveaway

There is one thing that my trip did not help me with at all; that is the flair up of my allergies and asthma. Before my trip I was eating and drinking right. For the first time in years I wasn't taking any allergy, or asthma medicines. While I was gone, I got the exercise, but sadly I veered off my diet. Sure I could find places that had salads, but when it came to that continental breakfast it was hard.

I had tummy issues towards the end of vacation. My nose became so stuffy, for the first time this spring/summer I'm coughing like I'm a smoker, and my lungs feel full. Now that I'm home I'm eating a ton of greens, meat, seeds and some fruit. We have a lot of kale and collard greens that were ready to pick out of our garden. I'm drinking loads of water, smoothies, and Matcha Tea. When I drink Matcha Tea I can breathe better. I'm back to doing the neti pot, taking my allergy nasal spray, asthma inhaler, and an organic allergy pill. Once I clear up, and can breathe I'll drop the steroid sprays in a heart beat. I really hate that I had to go back to the sprays, but I don't want to get Bronchitis.

Matcha DNA makes really great Black Matcha Tea that is easy to make, tastes good, and is great for you. They really do make the finest tea on the earth.

It's Swiss Certified Organic USDA Organic BPA Free Tested for Heavy Metals  •  Organically Grown  •  Hand Picked Has been featured on Dr. Oz

  2. Add 1/2 a teaspoon of Black Matcha Tea
  3. Whisk the water with the tea
  4. Pour in more water
  5. Whisk again
  6. You can drink it cold, or heat it up more to have a warm drink
  7. Can be sweetened - I used 1/2 teaspoon of local honey

Uses:
  • Teas
  • lattes
  • Smoothies
  • Martinis
  • Foods like green tea ice cream and cooking
History:

We have friends from different cultures. They make tea and coffee different from the way the US makes them. The current practice of drinking powdered tea in the Japanese tea ceremony is from the song dynasty in China. It dates back to over 1,000 years ago. This practice was carried on in Japan and is now considered a pillar of Japanese culture today. High quality Matcha is being made in China.

The tea has a slightly different character than its Japanese counterpart. Both teas have a deep green color and thick, texture, and savory taste. Both are high in EGCG and antioxidants.

Win It:

One of my US readers is going to win a 10 ounces of Black Matcha Tea to try out from Matcha DNA™. Make sure you are 18 years, or older to enter. This is a US giveaway.

WW: Brother Love {Linky}

We just got back from a week and half vacation to Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. Every place was so beautiful. I'm still going through pictures, which I have a lot of.

This is one of my favorites of the boys:

There was a mishap. Actually 3 mishaps, but this is the only one I'll post about now. Isaak left his puppy that doesn't have a name (he doesn't name any of his stuffed animals) in a hotel in Utah. We got close to Denver when we realized that his puppy was gone. He treats his stuffed dog like it's his baby. His puppy is brown, and so was the bedspread. His puppy is super loved, so we called the hotel, and they are shipping what I call "No Name" back to Nebraska.

Since Isaak didn't have "No Name" to cuddle with he decided to cuddle with Mica.

Pityriasis Rosea

Like I've said before my kids, especially Mica gets mysterious spots on him. I'm pretty sure he gets this from me. I used to get hives on my face at random times. The sensitive skin must come from me.

Isaak's had Roseola, and some baby eczema.

Mica's had baby eczema, a staph infection in his neck - we're thinking he got that from an ear infection on the same side, Ring Worm - we're thinking he got that from the mats at the Y, and now Pityriasis Rosea - we're assuming he got Pityriasis Rosea from mud fights at camp. He came home with spots all over where his clothes were on his skin.

The good things: It's not viral, or bacterial. It's just a skin sensitivity from something. Often times laundry detergent, or diapers can cause this. I haven't used different laundry soap. There is no fever, or itching from this type of rash.

The bad things: It can last from 6 to 8 weeks. The spots can blister. I'll have to get a swimming shirt, so we don't get crazy stares our way.

I was in a slight panic mom mode for a little while when I first saw all these spots on my poor, tired, dirty son. I didn't know what the spots were. The doctor's office was closed. They do have an ask a nurse line, which I called, but waited for 20 minutes, and gave up. When I finally did get a hold of their office they said I could just email them pictures.

His Belly

I'm thankful that my boys have never broken any bones. I wish they'd stop having skin issues. Mica's signed up for another week of this camp. I can just see this getting worse. *Insert eye roll.

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday is all about me discovering something that is different. I don't want to post things that you and I have more than likely heard before. I want to find something different. It could be from another country, someone singing from the streets of NY, and more.

This week I ran across an interesting animation. The animation is created at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw by motion designer: Daniel Marciniak. It takes place in a white room. There are just black lines that form throughout the video.

This is a screen shot from the video below.
Death Grips is the band. The electronic music certainly adds to the video. With the lines and music combination, they really make the white room feel like it's moving.

Death Grips is an experimental hip hop group from Sacramento, California, formed in 2010. The group consists of rapper Stefan Burnett, drummer Zach Hill, and producer Andy Morin.

The music is heavier than what I usually listen to. I'm willing to give anything a try. It's more my husband's taste. In many cases the singer screams. There is cussing in their music that has lyrics mixed in. I'll save your ears, and just post the one that has no lyrics. There is a raw quality about the music that's interesting. It almost sounds tribal.

Check out animator Daniel Marciniak's work.

Random Tid Bits

  1. A few months back I mentioned on one of these Random Tid Bits posts that Miss Teen Nebraska had disappeared. Her parents went through Facebook trying to get her back. No one knew if she was a run away, or kidnapped. Once people found out that she was a run away, instead of being happy that she was found, people were going on and on that her title and crown should be taken away. She couldn't go home because she threatened to run away from home again.

  2. I was always interested in the case. Something didn't seem right. She volunteered for all kinds of things. Her brother has a rare protein deficiency that she helped raise money for. Why would she just go missing? I'd checked her page once in awhile to see if there was an update.

She had an MRI and they found out that she has a tumor on her brain. Now's the time I want to say to everyone that wanted to take her title away, and made mean comments on Facebook that they really should understand the whole situation before saying crap like that. Tumors on the brain will make people not be themselves. This poor family has one child that can't eat much of anything, without throwing up, and another one that ran away, people thought the worst of them, and now they found out that she has a tumor on her on her brain. I'm sure they are scared about the tumor, yet relived to finally understand why their daughter is acting the way she's been acting.

  3. I've been thinking about how we as adults enforce that our children get along with others. "Share honey!" we say. Then it's interesting that as adults we sometimes don't get along. Families break up over something that could have been solved. People fight over different religious, or political beliefs. It's just so sad that we can't share, and get along. Even the words (please, thank you, and you're welcome) that we first teach children to say, are sometimes not said by adults. Do some people forget how to get along? Maybe they just too proud to admit they are wrong. What do you think?

  4. What sounds annoy you? There's 3 that get on my nerves. A) Dogs barking. We have 2 neighbors that have barking dogs. I just want to go outside, and hear birds chirping. B) Whistling while I'm trying to work. It might just be because I've never been able to whistle myself, or it could be that I'm trying to concentrate, and can't because there's that distraction. C) When Mica gets on a sound effect roll. He doesn't know when to stop. Isaak makes sound effects to, but it's not like Mica.

  5. Sleep is wonderful! I haven't been sleeping much this week. Daddy has been working a lot. 2 of his co-workers are out of town, his boss hasn't bought supplies to make the job go faster, and his boss miscast some of the work he did. He is also trying to get work done at home, so he can take sculpture molds down to Kansas City to be cast. It's like I'm a single parent. I miss sleep.

  6. Ending on a happy note: I'm happy because the boys have been so good so far this summer. They really have been.

What Are Little Boys Made of?

Of course I never really bought into that saying. Girls came home from camp that day looking the same way.

Mica's went to Hummel Day Camp last week.

It's a camp geared toward wearing them out, and having fun!

I love it because it's only $95 for the week. That includes food and transportation.

I learned from last year that they come home wore out, and dirty. They go hiking, have archery, build fires, have water and mud fights, and go down a mud slide.

The photo above is from the day he was doing the mud slide.

I said, "Mica as soon as we get home I want you to take all your clothes off and put them in the washer. That includes your shoes. Then go take a bath."

He said, "Mom I don't need a bath!"

I said, "Mica you need a bath. If you could only see yourself."

Isaak said, "Ummm...ya Mica you need a bath!"

He couldn't get his socks off. They were mud pasted to his feet. His socks were white. His white underwear is now tan to. His shoes, well they used to be cool. I made him wear those because they were the most used shoes he had. I bought old shorts at the Goodwill. He doesn't have old things since he's my 1st child. I'll save this stuff and Isaak can use it when he goes to the same camp. I'm sure Mica is going to get sick and tired of these clothes. He's going to wear them every day this week. Later in July he goes to this same camp again with his cousin's school, and will wear those clothes that week to. No matter how they are washed they'll still get more and more tan.

He's having fun, and that's what I love!

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday is all about me discovering something that is different. I don't want to post things that you and I have more than likely heard before. I want to find something different. It could be from another country, someone singing from the streets of NY, and more.

Someone posted a very sweet video on Facebook. I was intrigued the whole way though it. The band is called OK Go. The band name comes from their art teacher saying, "OK... Go!" while they were drawing.

Source
American alternative rock band originally from Chicago, Illinois in 1998, but now residing in Los Angeles, California. The band members are: Damian Kulash, Tim Nordwind, Dan Konopka, and Andy Ross.

Frontman Damian Kulash said, “This record feels like it’s the musical manifestation of that — like we can speak in a clearer voice when we are playing in a bigger sandbox. Just as the band’s whole project became clearer to us as we learned to find more homes for our creativity — we triangulated it from more directions. And, I think the music itself has gotten more focused for similar reasons. We went in with fewer preconceptions of who we are or what our sound is, and came out with a record that sounds much more uniquely our own because of it.”

Random Tid Bits

  1. I'm going to tell you a little bit about me when I was an itty bitty child. Some claim that I didn't smile until I was 2. I was very shy. In fact I wouldn't order from restaurants until I was in 6th grade.

There is hope for shy people. Now I'm a teacher. I still like quiet time when I get home, but that usually doesn't happen.

I was also bald until I was 2. My baby picture hung in my bedroom, and I tried drawing hair on it.

  2. I loved my little sister. Mainly because I could dress her up, and she'd play the part of the baby when we played house. Through her I didn't have to grow up so fast. She is 5 years younger than I am. I played with Barbies and dolls 5 years beyond what most kids did. My mom said I was very good about including her in my play.

The one time I was bad to her was when I was in charge of taking care of her. I made her go to her room, and I tied her door handle, to the bathroom door handle, and lastly to my parent's door handle. She was tied into her room. This is not something I'm proud of. While my friend and I were doing this, my parents caught us in the act. My friend had to go home. Trust me I was much better to her than my older sister was to me.

  3. I had 2 pit bulls growing up. They were nice dogs. I hate that their breed gets a bad name because people treat them poorly. They would give us sled rides, play tug of war, fetch, play hide and seek, and let me sleep on their bellies in the sun. Watching them play hide and seek was fun. My Dad would put them downstairs. They knew what it was about, and would bark happy barks. Then he'd hide their treats around the house. They'd come up, and have to find them.

  4. To this day I feel kind of bad - You see my parents had to get rid of our dogs because of me. I kept having asthma attacks and had huge allergy problems. I was sick all the time. My Dad in particular loved those dogs. They got rid of them, so I would be healthier. So much for having a pet to build up a tolerance.

  5. I'm a sleep walker and talker. I shared a bedroom with my sister Angie. She told me that I'd often talk nonsense  in my sleep. Once I must of had a dream about going on a picnic, and rattled off all the things we were bringing. Another time I got up, walked over to my sister's backpack, blew my nose on it, and said, "That feels better."

  6. I'd love to say I grew out of sleep talking and walking. When I was in high school I stayed at a friend's house, and actually got up and left the house in the middle of the night. No worries I came back. As an adult I've had dreams I was a dinosaur, a werewolf, and dragon. Each dream someone was after me. I roared in my dream, which was reality, scared the crap out of Daddy and woke myself up to.

  7. Once I almost burnt our childhood house down. My sister Angie got a purple stuffed animal monkey. It was so cute sitting on the top of our reading lamp, so I put it there. My sister complained to our Dad about me having body odor. She kept saying, "I can't go to sleep. She just smells so bad!" He came in the room and smelled all over me. I was playing possum. He said, "Well I smell it, but it's not Alissa." It took him a minute to find out that it was the purple monkey's butt that was nearly on fire. We're lucky it didn't light up in flames. He had a permanently black butt, and had to be thrown out.

What's a childhood memory that you have?
