Happy Valentines Day!

To everyone! Do you get into Valentines Day, or are you one of those people that hates the holiday? I could take it, or leave it. Since I have young kiddos, I try and make it fun.

Isaak's had 2 parties at school. He's in 2 preschools, so he gets to party it up. One was yesterday. He was so excited. Thankfully that is a small group. The preschool he's in today has a lot more kiddos. Mica has his party today. He brought his box that had black hearts on it for Black History month of course. ;) He's so silly!

I won a few things lately. Both were from Nutty blogs. :) I won a $100 GC to Fanny May Chocolates from A Nut in a Nutshell. I also won a GC to Jack Franklin - ties from Theresa's Mixed Nuts.

All my boys got a box of artisan chocolates at their table, a card and Daddy got a tie as well. The sucky thing is, is that it was still black as can be outside, so I had to use the flash for the pictures.

Both boys refused to let me help them open their boxes. They also wouldn't look up at the camera. Isaak had bed head.

We only let them have one chocolate. They are getting spaced out. They have to be eaten within 12 days of receiving them. These are good chocolates! Mica spent some time reading about each one and their different flavors.

While the little boys opened their chocolates, Daddy was making Eggs in a Basket. Have you had that before? I guess it was rated as one of the top breakfasts in the world on some site that Daddy found. I had never had it until he started making them. You cut a heat out of the bread with a cookie cutter. Then you grill the bread with egg in the open heart.

Here's Daddy with his tie:

Heads up! If you need a Valentines, there are a lot of printable ones online, for free. Board Inc. has some here: http://www.boredinc.net/sites/default/files/BoredIncValentines.pdf I printed them out for my students.

They have dirty ones like the one below. I do have to admit it's rather funny.
They also have just plain cute ones like the ones below.

  1. The treats look nice! My mother-in-law makes that same breakfast, but with a circle and calls it an Egyptian Eye. :)

I like the heart better, especially for Valentine's Day.

I feel like you do about the holiday, almost to the letter. I'm serving ice cream at the school party today, and I am looking forward to that. :)

  3. Happy Valentine's Day, Alissa !!!

Your Hub's breakfast sound's reallly good. I would have to figure out how to make my egg well done without burning the bread. Pherhaps break the yoke, brown the top and them flip it over and brown the bottom.
If the bottom doesn't look too pretty I can turn it upside again for serving.

Mrs. Jim and I exchanged cards this morning. I usually get her a box of Whitman's Sampler chocolates but she still had the one I got her for Christmas (same tradition). So we opened that one this morning for breakfast with more coffee after eating our usual shared granola bar with coffee.

Yes, I think kids have more fun at Valentine's than we adults do. Our three n a-half won't be celebrating because the daughter doesn't think they do much of that in London. Just watch her come home from school with a bag of Valentines.

  4. Will you be my Valentine? I would love to have some of those chocolates lol.

Your husband looks very handsome in his tie :)

And I cracked up at the toilet paper and poo Valentine card. I saved it and sent it to my hubby. That kind of humor is right up his alley. Boys!

  5. It's funny that both prizes came from blogs with nuts in the names! Those chocolates are fancy! I'd be spreading them out too, but wow. Good choice!

I like that egg in the basket idea too. That's pretty neat!

    Happy Valentine's Day, friend!

  10. Happy Valentine's Day to you as well! I could take it or leave it but like you said, while kids are young we need to make it fun for them. Don't get me wrong, sure, I'd take a gift but I don't want to waste money on eating out somewhere that they over price everything just because it is V Day. That is what ruins it for me.
After saying that I haven't been on a date with my hubby in over three years so when my oldest said he'd watch my little one, my hubby jumped on it! Thankfully found a place they still served their normal menu on top of a special one just for V Day. We had no idea what to do with ourselves. It was kind of funny.

That's awesome that you won those things! I remember you have always been good at that, sticking with the rules, going back for more chances...
