#SaveMedicaid #NoCutsNoCaps

I worry about our countries healthcare. Those that need it, aren't getting it. We pay for our own because our works are so small.

I worry about people like my nephew Emerson that may loose Medicaid. They have helped him with hearing aids, a walker, a wheelchair, therapies and more.

Trisomy 18 is considered Incompatable With Life in hospitals. My sister did nothing to help him in the beginning. Once he hit 2 months, and was still growing she chose to fight for him. He is showing us that he is Compatible With Life. He's potty trained, can understand yes and no, is happy most of the time, walks, and more.

I've been emailing and calling my senators to help save Medicaid. There is a list of Senators, and how to get ahold of them here: http://contact411.blogspot.com/2017/05/us-senators-115th-congress.html

You can use my nephew Emerson's story, or a story of someone you know to make them understand how Medicaid has helped.

Their phones should be ringing off the hook, but people just aren't standing up for those that need it the most.

If you don't know what to say there are helpful scripts here: https://medicaid.publicrep.org/feature/call/

Thank you so much!

Emerson thanks you too!

Freak Out

My life feels a bit like this lately:

In case you can't tell what that is, it is broken glass.

Friday I left work early, as I do many Fridays during the summer. I take 1/2 hour lunches throughout the week to get out of here at 2:30. I thought it would be great to do this especially this year. Why? Because then I can get my allergy shots in on Fridays. I'll get home at a decent time.

I had Travis drop the boys off to me, as he had to leave to go to his art studio. We drove 20 min. to the allergy clinic. When I told them I needed my card to get my shots in they looked at me like I was crazy. They said, "We don't have shots on Fridays. We never have. We're open on Saturday though." It was almost like they said it like, You should know better. I said, "Really? That's too bad." I just started them. I assumed they were open with shots whenever they were open. Heck they are open late with them on Mondays - they stop giving them at 6:30. I was thinking, No one flipping told me this! Flip! I was planning on this for the whole summer! The boys were annoyed that I drove them all that way for nothing. It was hot, and they are always hungry - even though they just had a snack.

A few other things happened that day. I missed my exit going to the allergy clinic because I was focused on driving, and Mica talking. Kids talking = distractions. I almost got in a wreck. That one wasn't totally my fault. Dodge Expressway is nuts! Everyone was going way too fast. The boys were crazy annoying in a store I needed to go to. They weren't crying, or yelling. They were just being boys. I was in an all girl shop, so it didn't work out that well.

Saturday I had a panic attack. Not really. I just freaked out thinking, What if my school's graduation is at a different location this year? I also couldn't remember if I was supposed to be there at 9 or 9:30. I showed up at 8:30, but didn't need to be there until 9:30. Because they told me 9:30 I can't get paid for being there at 8:30. Annoying! Yes it's my fault for not paying attention.

Today I had yet another freak out. I looked at the calendar, and it said I had my pre-op on the 14th. Well I remember reading somewhere that I HAD to have my pre-op 2 weeks prior to my deviated septum/polyp surgery. My surgery is on the 23rd. I called the office right away. The person that schedules appointments said, "7 to 10 days is fine. You're good." Let's hope they are right! It's bad enough that I have to pay for my surgery before I have it! Yep you read that right. Asshats! My deductible isn't cheap! Hell I'm worried I'm going to me one of those American's left without insurance next year! Ekkk! I'm still waiting for America to be great again! I really don't think that's going to happen. Sigh! Let's beat you, while you're down. What happened to paying things off little by little? In the letter they made it sound like a cosmetic surgery. As if that sounds great to the insurance company. I asked about that one. They said all surgeries like this are worded that way. I held my middle finger up to the phone. I said, "My doctor said I needed this surgery. If I didn't have it polyps would eat away at the bone by my brain, and I will die. It's not a choice surgery." I maybe appealing the insurance company on this one.

I'm not usually this much on edge. Travis started his residency. I've been playing single Mom all weekend. With my surgery coming up I haven't been sleeping well, and feel like I have a mountain of things to do.

So do you tend to freak out at times?

Random Tid Bits

  1. Isaak was caught in a lie. I've mentioned that my kids are horrible  liars. He was playing with his head lamp in bed, long after he was supposed to be in bed. Dad asked him, "What are you doing? What do you have in your hands?" Isaak said, "Nothing." Hello a light was shining in his room. I own his headlamp now - for awhile anyhow.

  2. We got recall letter from Honda about our Pilot. Both airbags are dangerous. I acted on it right away. It's been over a month now, and they still do not have the parts in. On the letter it says, "Please act now." If I get in an accident I hope the airbags don't kill me.

  3. Remember when we got Influenza back on the 1st of January? We submitted the claim to the insurance company after we got our cards a month late. They denied our claim because we didn't have the dosage on the claim. The claim form never asked for the dosage. a

We got a hand signed note from the doctor, filled out the claim again, and got the dosage written on the form. It came back again unclaimed. Dad talked to the insurance company, and I guess the $600 went towards our deductible.

Randomly out of the blue we got 2 checks in the mail for Mica and Isaak. Each were $40 checks from Walgreens. I didn't ask questions. I had to cash them with DOM written on the back, which means Dependent of Minor.

  4. Mica's been leaving a trail of books around the house. We get fed up with it. At times when we ask him to put them away, and he doesn't we hide his books. This week that scenario happened. Dad hid his book that he was reading, along with his fake glasses. I could tell the next morning Mica was on a mission to find his book, but he never asked me if I had seen his book.

  5. I'm addicted to the Showtime series Weeds. I know it was on 2005-2012, but we've been checking it out at the library. Have you watched it?

The show is so wrong, but things fall into place. We watch it after the kids go to bed. It's not for kids at all. Nancy - Mary Louis-Parker lost her husband, and sells weed to make money. I always liked the actress Mary Louis-Parker. I love the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. She makes a lot of bad choices in this show, but as a viewer you can understand why she does what she does.

I love the music in the show to.

More Good Things Have to Happen

I believe in the Yin and Yang. When bad things happen, good things happen to. It just seems like the bad is out weighing the good right now. We need balance.

Travis lost his job...it seemed like good things were coming up. Then the good things sort of went no where. I know that happens when one looks for a job.

Up until this point Travis was feeling upbeat. Then last night he was like, "February just sucks!" I couldn't agree more.

He wrote 2 proposals for art displays in our area.

One was specifically for artists that are for parents. They offered a stipend, childcare and space to do your work. It takes awhile to think, and write up a proposal! He submitted it, and sent in his fee.

He got an email yesterday that they were cancelling the the proposal. They didn't do their research, and weren't equip to watch children. He gets his $40 back, but doesn't get his time back for writing the proposal. He doesn't even know if anyone looked at his proposal. He was really excited about it. Now he's pissed.

The other proposal he wrote...that one is on hold because the business decided to move. Yet another disappointment.

Job leads seem to be on a stand still.

Our YMCA membership is on a 3 month hold after this month.

Isaak was supposed to test this month for his next stripe in Ju-Jitsu. We showed up last week with our $25. Sensei said they'd test this week.

We went in to have him get tested last night, and Sensei wasn't there. He was at school conferences. You can't tell me he didn't know about that last week. His helper said, "It will have to happen next week." Well...we're on a 3 month hold after this week is over. They knew that. Travis and I were both upset.

I swear I'm thinking of sneaking into the Y to get him tested next week.

We already were told by one Y instructor to just come to sneak into her class anyway.

We were supposed to get our $600 back from our Health Insurance for the kid's Tamiflu.

We got a letter saying that we didn't mark down how many days they took it, so they cancelled the claim. We took it to the Pharmacist. They submitted it, but told us it can take up to 10 weeks to get that money. What a mess!

Two doctors told my sister that they think my nephew Emerson has a tethered spinal cord.

That means he will need spinal surgery ASAP. It doesn't show up until kids start growing. The success of the surgery is usually pretty good. But it's major.

Now on with the good. We need more good. It needs to be as heavy as the bad for balance.

My Dad is healing with his heart surgery.

Mica won 1st place in his story, and will get awarded next month.

Travis' old boss said, "If we have someone buy into us, which someone is interested - We want you back." He doesn't know that he wants to go back. Sometimes a job is a job. He doesn't know if this will even happen. He's frustrated. He said, "If that happens the boss man and I will have a long talk before I accept."
Travis does have job leads - they may be going no where right now, but they are leads none the less. That is both good and bad.

The boys are doing well in school.

Annoying

We switched health insurance. Our monthly bill was going to go up $200 a month. It was already high. The Insurance company we were using was battling it out with a hospital that has too high of rates.

I'm like: I'm done. I don't want to pay more, and what if we have an emergency and have to use that hospital they are at war with?
Which has happened by the way! When Mica had a staph infection in his neck there were no bed at Children's hospital, so we had no choice, but to go to Bergan. Children's hospital was loaded with kids that had RSV. Their beds were full.

Source
We filled for new insurance, and we were accepted. As of Jan. 1 we've been on Coventry. It's not as great as Blue Cross, but they aren't going through a war with a hospital either, and their rates were better for us.

Guess what? I don't have insurance cards. None have been sent to me. Oh I made my payment. I had to pay for the boy's Tamiful out of pocket. If we get sick, or have to go to the emergency room I have nothing to show them except for a letter of acceptance.

Yes they have our address right.

When I've called to ask why I haven't gotten our cards they don't know why. They see I've made my payment, but can't see our policy number.

Yep I pretty much want to scream!
