Random Tid Bits

1. I've been battling a cold all week. Mica had it last week.
   
   I thought it was just allergies. He was complaining of a sore throat, being tired and achy.
   
   I said, "Do the Neti Pot, wash your hair, take some Zyrtec, change your pillow case, and go to bed early. It's just allergies." He swore it was more than allergies. I didn't believe him.
   
   Now I have, had this more than allergies thing, have apologized to him, and believe him.


2. I got my allergy shots on the 13th. I get 3. I bruised up so bad on the arm where I get 2 at once. I kind of made a big deal out of it because I never reacted like that before. I message the doctor's office. He told me to send photos to the nurse. I did, and heard nothing back. This is a week after getting my shots on the 20th.
   
   
   
   
   
3. Mica was reading a book when I was driving, "Mom pro is the opposite of con. That must mean progress is the opposite of congress." I said, "Pretty much."


4. My school got out last Friday, and the boys got out this Wednesday. We're done with school, for now. Are schools out where you live? I know some places had to go longer because of the snow. I don't know how we escaped that. 


5. I picked up Isaak from school last Friday. Only to be greeted by his smiling teacher. I asked, "Did Isaak have a good day today? I know he's been struggling with attention problems, since it's so close to the end of the year." She said, "No. He had a rough day. He didn't get done with his tests." Apparently they had SIX tests in ONE day! I can see why he was struggling! He had to take what he got done for 2. I get the standard tests. Why have tests for their main subject the same day as the standard ones? I just think SIX tests in ONE day for elementary seems like a lot! Do you think it's too much to have SIX tests in ONE day? 

Today I Got the Run Around

The bruise I got in the beginning of October has never went away. I tripped on Isaak's play mat in the bathtub/shower. My leg stung and it really wasn't that colorful of a bruise. It was just was massive in size. The tissue was firmer than my other skin.

The size has gone down. What's left is a hard knot that is under the skin and the size of a large egg. It's a little discolored there. The skin in that spot dries out much more than my other skin and itches.

I didn't think too much of it. Like I said, it did get smaller. Since it won't go away, I did what everyone shouldn't probably do and looked online. What I found was that it could and probably is a "Hematoma." Sometimes ignorance is better, sometimes it's worse. What is it? A Hematoma refers to an abnormal collection of blood in the body that is typically the result of a broken or ruptured blood vessel. Hematomas can cause a minor skin bruise, or a collection of clotted blood that is deep within a muscle. Sometimes they shrink and go away, sometimes they don't and the sack of blood needs to b surgically removed. If it doesn't get removed, it can get so bad that a limb could need to be amputated. Ya that last part is where I decided that I should call my doctor. That's if it's really bad. Mine has shrunk down, so I doubt it's that bad.

I called my doctor and left a message with the nurse. Then she called and said that I'll need to see a Dermatologist. Then the Dermatologist office was away for an hour lunch break. Than I called back and they said, "It sounds like a Hematoma. You should probably see your regular doctor." I said, "They referred me to see a Dermatologist." She said, "Did they see you first?" I said, "No, but that's what my doctor said over the phone." She said, Ok."

I had to give them my maiden name. I haven't seen this doctor since late high school I think. That might be an issue in itself.

Now I have an appointment to see my Dermatologist at the end of the month.

At least I can have him look at my moles while I'm there. I don't think they are an issue because they haven't changed at all. Since I'm there, I might as well. I also have a raised, tiny mark by my eye. I'm sure it's just from getting older, but I'll have him look at that to.

Suspicious Mark

Mica's had a suspicious mark on his cheek for around 4 weeks. It wasn't a scratch, it wasn't a bruise. We really were not sure what it was.

We have washed his face plenty, but were sensitive to that one spot. It just looked painful. Well Daddy took him to the doctor today. He just scrubbed Mica's suspicious spot with an alcohol wipe. It was practically gone.

Now we can see a faint scratch.

Copay + time = 5 min from the doctor. That's how it goes sometimes. He got his flu mist out of the way while he was there to. The doctor asked Mica if he wanted the shot or the mist. Of course he picked the mist. I'm more pro the shot.
