WW: Joslyn Castle {Linky}

This weekend we decided to take pictures at Joslyn Castle.

While we were out there a tour guide came out and said, "Do you want to join our tour in 5 minutes?" I've always wanted to go on a tour there, so I answered, "Yes please."

The door weighs a ton, but can be opened with just one finger.

The original owners were from England, and wanted a castle like house. The architect was from Scotland, so inside there is a Scottish look. Have you ever been inside a castle?

WW: Abandon Castle {Linky}

We went to Kansas City, Missouri this weekend. It was a fun trip!

We were driving to our hotel, and noticed this abandon castle:

I didn't know why such a cool building was abandon like that. Thankfully I have tons of friends that live in the Kansas City area. One told me it's the Vine Street Castle also known as Workhouse Castle.

It was a workhouse jail. Women would work in the building to better themselves. It's been used in other ways.

Now the limestone structure has no roof, or flooring.

They plan on repurposing the building to be a theater. I hope it happens.

Colorado Springs

One thing we struggle with as a family is where to eat when we travel. There's only so much a family can store in little hotel refrigerators.

I have to say that this is the best trip we've had for eating out. It wasn't until the end of our trip I started to risk eating less healthy. I sure did pay for it.

In Colorado Springs I saw that they had a place in their main shopping strip called Heart of Jerusalem Cafe. I'm all for trying different types of food, so we went there.

I got a salad and coffee. OMG they both were good.

I wish they had a website I could link up to, but they don't have one.

After that we decided to go to a castle: Miramont Castle Museum.

I do have to say that Daddy and I were envisioning the castle to be different than it was. We thought it was going to be just an old castle to walk through. It was more just a castle shell, with a museum inside it.

It was one of Mica's favorite spots. He enjoyed it so much because they had a scavenger hunt for him to fill out. Let me tell you he wouldn't let us move on unless the prior question was answered. In fact one question got overlooked, and he had to got back down a floor to find the answer. Then it took us awhile to find something that was behind an open door. He was really into it.

So if you have a shop, gallery, or museum a scavenger hunt for kids to fill out may solve some problems for active children.

In the end of the scavenger hunt a gentleman looked over Mica's answers to see if he had them all right or not. Then Mica and Isaak got to pick out 2 pieces of vintage candy. They were so excited.

Have a Super Saturday and Sunday

This is one of Mica's latest drawings. It's him all grown up as a super hero with his stuffed animal rabbit he named, "Bloom."

What are you doing this weekend? Today we went toy store hopping.

We soaked up some fat brains at Fat Brain Toys. One of Mica's gifts from Santa, a 3D baseball puzzle was missing a piece. We returned it and got a mini Lego type castle called Neuschwanstein. Mica started it and Daddy's finishing it. It will be a project they have to do together. Tomorrow I'm going to google Neuschwanstein, so we can learn about the castle.

We then took our fat brains and expressed some learning at Learning Express. Isaak's biggest gift from Santa had a few issues. Mrs. Claus bought a puppy that breathes. I was super excited about it when I found it. Guess who wasn't as excited about it? Isaak. He loves dogs. One of the puppy's paw's wasn't glued on good and came off as soon as we opened the box, he did not have an on/off switch (which is the biggest reason why I returned it) and Isaak took the collar off; we could not get back on. Isaak didn't look sad at all when I mentioned returning it and getting something else. Isaak did want another puppy and picked out the cheapest one there. He got a $4.99 Ty puppy. He's been cuddling with it all day. He looks at it and says, "You're so cute!" :) We also got a take-a-part airplane. Isaak loves taking it apart and putting it together! It's challenging, yet doable. Mica loves helping him!

Have you ever gotten anything that you were excited about; then disappointed with? 

Here's the sweet Perfect Petzzz puppy I returned. He sure is cute! He wasn't perfect, cuddly and the biggest no, no was that he did not have an on/off switch!
