A Late Christmas Program

Isaak finally had one of his preschool programs this week. It was postponed because of the snow we had. His other school just canceled theirs. I was fine with that.

The program included not just Isaak, but cousin Elijah to.

Getting there was interesting. The boys had to be there by 6, smack dab during rush hour. At least around here rush hour isn't as bad as other places. Grandma and Grandpa Spiehs ran into a traffic stand still. We had to stop off at home to grab a few things, and had to wait for a train to pass by.

Here is Isaak and Cousin Elijah:

The people in front of me kept on moving. I kept getting blurry hair in my shots. Here's Elijah and Isaak. I think the shot I got of Elijah was my favorite! I kept wanting to go up on stage and push Isaak's hair dress back out of his eyes.

Here are a few funny faces I captured. Elijah was getting ready to sneeze or yawn. I'm not sure what Isaak's face was about. He looked silly though.

Preschool Program

  • Mica's second preschool program was today. He's in two preschool's. They are very different.
  • The private one has all the bells and whistles. Full costumes for the Christmas program, graduation robes and a ceremony for when they leave the preschool.
  • The state preschool keeps it simple and practical.
  • We like them for different reasons. Mica get a lot more academics from the private one, but more social and exercise from the public one. I'm glad he's in more then one school.
  • I like his teachers at both schools.
  • I do think the private one goes overboard with all the ceremony stuff. They are in preschool. Sometimes I feel like if a pen were to drop everyone would know.
Here's how his simple program went today:
  1. A few songs. Added decorations for different songs.
  2. Santa came in for the kids to enjoy.
  3. Cake and punch.
I think Mica and the family had just as much fun watching him as we did during the other school concert.

    Stage Fright. Will He Sing?

    • Mica's preschool teachers told Daddy last week that Mica wouldn't sing during practice for his program.
    • They were disappointed and wanted us to talk to him.
    • He told us that he was shy. All the preschools got together for the practice.
    • Mica sings up the most when it's just his preschool. He's the oldest in the class. His teachers like his voice.
    • I'm thinking, "Humm talk to him???"
    • I have problems with some of my college students speaking in front of the rest of their class. How am I supposed to get my preschooler to feel comfortable?
    • I just told him that all the people in the audience will be mommy's, daddy's and grandparent's. He likes all of his relatives, so he has no reason to be shy. Plus all of his friends will be there with him.
    • We'll see what happens tonight when he preforms.
    • You can tell he was shy last year, but came around towards the end.
