KITCHEN SELECT Russian Icing Piping Tips Reivew

I love to decorate sweet treats. I have to say that I need a ton of practice when it comes to piping. I have just always tried to stay away from the piping part by decorating with candy, or sprinkles. When it comes to things like Cake Walks at school I always wished I was better with piping. I now have the tools to get better. Kitchen Select gave me a Russian Icing Piping Tips to review.

The set comes with 25 pieces. The cost is $25.99. It comes with 23 tips, 1 silicone bag, and a coupler. I didn't know what a coupler is. It fits on the tip with 3 sections. You can put in 3 different colors in 3 different bags. I'm not that fancy, yet.

Everything fit in one small box:

Here's some close ups of the tips:

I had some pink frosting I needed to use up, so that's what we used. It's important to keep your icing cold before making the flowers! If it's room temperature forget pumping out anything that will stay.

Put the cold icing on clear plastic wrap, and have a scissors and twisty tie handy.

First we put a tip in the reusable silicone bag. We had to cut a bit of the bag, which is normal. It stretches a bit, so we made it smaller than needed.

The next step is to roll the icing into a sausage type roll, cut the tip off and twisty tie the back. That went in to the silicone bag.

Then we were ready to pipe. I used one of the star tips because it's 4th of July time, but it didn't look like a star at all. It ended up looking more like a jelly fish.

I ended up doing most of them like this:

It was simple, but I didn't have a lot of frosting. I certainly didn't want to make more. The cupcakes are lemon.

The boys helped me. It was a fun family decorating event. I'm having company over tomorrow, so this will be a nice treat.

I can't wait to dive into using other colors.

Prime Kitchen Review

I love the idea of not ever having to buy paper liners for cupcakes or muffins again. Prime Kitchen sent me special silicone baking cups to review.

At my work we make treats for our birthday, so I decided to make Raspberry Pink Lemonade Cupcakes.

Just a warning: They are not healthy. I didn't really make them for me. I made them for my work. I did sneak to have one, and yes they are tasty!
Cupcakes:
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/8 cup corn starch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar (I used coconut sugar)
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup + 3 Tablespoons buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons lemon juice
Syrup:
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
Frosting:
  • 1 heaping cup fresh raspberries
  • 3/4 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 2 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • raspberries for toppings
Directions:
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Add to a mixing bowl all the dried ingredients to the cupcake recipe. Stir, and set aside.
  • Add to a mixing bowl all the wet ingredients. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry, and mix.
  • Divide batter among 12 muffin cups. What's nice about Prime Kitchen liners is that you don't need to spray them with cooking spray. Bake in preheated oven until toothpick inserted into center of cupcake comes out clean, about 20 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool.
  • Prepare syrup: In a small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice and sugar until sugar has dissolved. Brush mixture over warm cupcakes in 2 coats.
  • For the frosting: Heat mixture in a saucepan set over medium-low heat until reduced by half (to 3 - 3 1/2 Tbsp). Mash the berries. Cool completely (speed chill in freezer).
  • In the bowl use hand held mixer to whip butter until very pale and fluffy. Mix in 1 cup powdered sugar then mix in reduced raspberry puree and vanilla. Add remaining powdered sugar and mix until light and fluffy (if an even stronger raspberry flavor is desired you can add in 1/4 tsp raspberry extract, or to taste).
  • Add one raspberry to top of each cupcake then pipe frosting over raspberry and top with another raspberry.
  • Store in an airtight container.
Lemony Goodness!

With our Prime Kitchen Baking Cups you don't ever have to buy paper cups again. Paper cups just get thrown out, which is bad on the environment, and bad on the pocket book. I'm not saying silicone cups are perfect on the environment. It takes a process to make those. They can be used and used some more for years!

They are also easier to clean than metal cupcake pans. Cupcakes and muffins pop right out of them without using any sprays.

In addition, our Premium Luxury Designed Box can be used as a Dessert Container for taking it with you at School, Work or be used as a Gift!

Why not be creative? These cups can be used for more than baking...

24 Set Silicone Baking Muffin Liners | Cupcake Liner Cups Review

My boys love muffins, and cupcakes. I don't make them all the time. We do have muffins once every few weeks.

We have so many June Berries that we pick from our tree, which work great in muffins. They replace any recipe that has blueberries in them.

I got a set of 24 Silicone Baking Muffins Liners | Cupcakes Liner Cups for review. I don't think I'll ever have to buy paper liners ever again! :)

The Silicone Baking Muffins/Cupcakes Liner Cups are reusable, which makes them environmentally friendly. They are BPA free, which is a relief.

They are nonstick. The silicone is flexible, which allows easy release.

There was 24 Silicone Baking Muffins/Cupcakes Liner Cups - I counted. There are 6 different colors: Yellow, Orange, Magenta, Dark Blue, Light Blue, and Green. I do wish they had an option to get a set of darker colors as well.

With all the colors it's a new way to enjoy your blueberry, banana, pumpkin, vanilla and chocolate chip muffins. Also great solution for holding candies, nuts and other party snacks.

The company sent me a PDF recipe book with the order. The cost for these is $39.99, but on sale for $11.99!

I love that these cups fit inside a regular sized muffin pan.
I've have a small 4 set of Set Silicone Baking Muffins/Cupcakes Liner Cups I got before that do not fit inside my pan. I make a mess using them.
With this 24 set I didn't have any mess factor at all!

This weekend I decided to make Apple Oat Muffins. The silicone heats up quickly, and bakes evenly.

Random Tid Bits

  1. On the coldest day for years we had our car scheduled to get looked at. Isaak's car door wasn't locking. We were actually lucky we found this out. The car was beeping like it was locking, but he opened his door to get in like it was no big deal. All I could think of was a stranger entering our car, and hiding in the back seat. $300 later it locked. Daddy tested it out in the parking lot. The next time Isaak was back there he couldn't get out of his door. Daddy tried, and he couldn't get out either. Now we have to take it back in on Monday. Don't you just love that they don't apologize for not getting it fix right the first time? A simple, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience." Then they want a great review.

In my field if I messed up a design job, I might loose a client. Then word would get out that I'm not reliable. Doctors and nurses could loose their licenses for messing up their jobs.

  2. We had a pot luck at work. I made lemonade tic tack toe cupcakes. I figured we needed a taste of summer time. They look more Valentines like.

I also made a sweet potato dish. I mentioned to the guy behind me that they were sweet potatoes. He said, "Yuck!" Remember how I said last week that the boys have trouble with filtering out their opinions on food? I guess some adults do to.

  3. Omaha, Nebraska is getting national attention. It's not good attention. Some idiot filmed themselves cussing as bad as a rated R movie. A toddler in a diaper was there. The parent was encouraging their 2 year old to cuss and degrade woman! We're talking the f bomb, sexual discussion, gang discussion, and talks of violence. The cops didn't have enough to arrest them, but they checked out their home and found their home unfit to have the kids (4 of them) living there. They have been removed from their home.

If that wasn't bad enough the Omaha Police Officers Association posted it online. They won't take it down. They said it's already viral, and it's up to show how violence starts. They did blur out the kid's face. No names are released. The question is, should they remove it? You can watch the video here. *Warning it's disturbing! I can't believe anyone would talk that way to the kid, or around their kid! I know it happens; it's so sad!

  4. Ever since Tuesday night this week the boys have been tired. Welcome back to school boys.

  5. The boys had fun with bead wax melt things that Great Aunt Becky got them. I don't have pictures of their finished ones. Mica made a tree, scrapped that and made a turtle. Isaak made a cool sky with a building. It kept them occupied, happy and not fighting for an hour (because they reworked them). They put small beads on plastic boards with tweezers, or small fingers, I laid iron sheets on top of the designs and iron it. The wax melts to hold the designs together. Have you tried this before?
