Random Tid Bits

  1. I know I skipped last week. It's finals time, so super busy.

  2. It didn't help finals time when Isaak got sick on Sunday. It started with just a cold - symptoms like it. Poof he got a fever on day Tuesday, and started throwing up. The sore throat persisted, so on Wednesday we took him in. That's when we got the positive results for Strep Throat. He's been really out of it. I thought it was best that I was home with him some. I took off on one of my final's days to be with him. I forced him to drink, eat, brush his teeth with a new toothbrush, and take his meds. This is one of his finer shots, and he still looks sad.

  3. I helped Isaak some with homework. It's hard when a boy doesn't feel good. He was so sleepy, couldn't talk clear, and I most certainly didn't want him touching anyone's keyboard. He talked, and I typed. Then I'd read aloud what I typed to see if he'd want me to change things.

Along with a PowerPoint on Koalas, he found out in an email that he did a different assignment all wrong. Could of partly been from him not feeling so great. I made the mistake of sending him to school on Tuesday because I felt like he was in an upswing, and Travis was worried he'd get too behind. Boy was he sick when he returned! That's the night he spiked a fever and threw up a few times.

I hope that the rest of us get skipped with this nasty thing. Because of having Asthma I'm naturally kind of stuffy/coughy. I swear I'm thinking every little cough, or clearing of the throat is Strep.

  4. I know we're not going to have a white Christmas. I was walking outside without a coat on today.

  5. I was pretty annoyed on Wednesday when I got to class, and 5 students were gone in the morning. Hello! It's finals week! What's something that has annoyed you this week?

Random Tid Bits

  1. It took me 30 minutes to clean 1 dry eraser board in my first year classroom. I called to leave boss man a message, "Hello! :) I think it may be time to change out the dry eraser boards. It's taken me way to long to clean it. It still looks stained."

He called back, "Mr. G (coworker) says it's too much work to switch them out. He wants to see if we can coat them, or do something else to them. He'll be the one that has to replace them."

Me feeling like an ass, "Ok, but they've been there since I started in 2001. I think they are ready to retire." I felt like saying, I think I may be ready to retire right along with them. Not really ha! I sometimes feel like I get people more responsibility when I don't mean to. I'm just trying to get things done.

  2. Recycling has been way too hard at my work. Seriously! They act like I'm cutting off their limbs to get them to recycle. One sweet lady takes care of the cans and bottles. I take care of the paper. I was combining the paper boxes - each classroom has one under their printer table.

I'm supposed to do it on my own time. There are times where I try and sneak to combine them. Today was one of those days. Really I was just cleaning up all three rooms: Grades off the walls, brooms, cleaners and rags all put away.

Boss Man came out when I was doing it. He didn't seem annoyed that I was combining the boxes. He did seem a little like his pants were on a little too tight when he found out I was taking the student's grades off the walls, to toss them out. He said, "These should be shredded!" I said, "Oh I can do that if you'd like, but to be honest everyone has always thrown them out, since I started here in 2001. The student's names, and social security numbers are not on them. It's just a Student I.D. number that means nothing to anyone, but the students."

He said, "Really?!" I said, "Really." He said, "Well I'll talk to the Director to see what she thinks." I said, "Go ahead. She tosses her grades out too. Let me know what you both decide." Truth be told, even his wife tosses grades away.

  3. The Education Director wants our spring syllabi by January. I'm trying to get them done. My co-worker got his turned in in October. He hasn't gotten his proof-read and back yet. I'm not sure what I should think of that.

  4. The Education Director said, "Did you do attendance for the last week of classes?" I think we're one of the only colleges that takes attendance - possibly! The students check in and out with a hand punch. All I can think of is gross - germs! I'll just take my own attendance thank you! They insist it needs to be done. The last week of classes everyone leaves after their test, which throws the punch way off. I don't even see the point. I did it anyhow.

  5. Travis wanted me to apply to a $250 Grant. I really wish there were examples of written grants proposals and artist statements online. Maybe there is, but I can't find them. I can find sites that talk about them, but not specific examples. I'm not saying I want to copy them. Just read them, and come up with my own. That's how I roll. I look, see draw, and totally change it into my own. I do that with writing as well. Do you roll by example?

I was lacking on sleep all last week. I was worried about Isaak. This week I feel like I'm getting Isaak's cold, so my thinking/writing wasn't working that day at all. It never happened. Possibly it happened, but I never submitted it. That made me so pissed. I was annoyed because Travis said, "It's so easy! I'll help you write it." Then he watched Spiderman Homecoming with the boys. It didn't just stop there. They watched all the special features. Any superhero movie is loud, then quiet, then loud again. Here I was trying to write. I wanted to scream.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Just a heads up, this week will be swamped. I'll try to blog some.

Just to give you an idea:

Monday

The Honda Pilot went in the shop for a recall. The emergency break has to be fixed. It was supposed to go in on Saturday, but they thought it would need a full day of service. Daddy called and got it in on Monday. We took it in, and they had no record of him calling it in. They made it sound like it was his fault. I for see a bad evaluation coming to them. Controversy in the making. I refuse to give a good evaluation to people that messed up; then want to blame us for the mess up. I wish a different Honda dealership was near us. We don't have time to run all over for this.

Daddy has to pick up some artwork at a gallery between 4:30 and 5. He may get me later than 5.

Swimming lessons are at 6:15 and 6:45.

We probably have to go pick up the Pilot after that.

Tuesday

Mica has a Music and Arts Festival at school. We missed the last event for his school the previous time because we went to the Lion King. We better go to this one. :)

Wednesday

Is Jujutsu. Mica was supposed to test for a new stripe on his belt two weeks ago. He hasn't been trying very hard, so Daddy said, "No." to that. Mica was mad. I feel like Daddy did the right thing. Mica has to learn to try. We kept reminding him that we are paying for him to go. We are not going to pay for him to test if he's not trying his hardest. He doesn't want to quit.

Isaak has a birthday party at BouceU. He'll love it.

Thursday

I'll be at work most of the evening because I have Portfolio Review Night. It's a night were many pros come in and students show them their portfolios.

Friday

Mica doesn't have school. Grandma and Grandpa will have an extra body.

Daddy has to work at the gallery where his artwork is at. I'll have the boys to myself.

Saturday

Mica has a birthday party to go to somewhere. I don't even remember where now.

How's your week looking? Are you busy to? This is usually a busy time for me because it's close to finals time. It's especially crazy because I have a student that is pregnant and needs her review sheet one week early and her exams one week early. I don't know how I'm going to do it, but it will get done.

Busy Week Ahead!

I just wanted to mention that I won't be blogging as much this week.

Here are all the things going on at our home front:

  • Mica's graduating preschool. He has a relay race at one of his preschools. It's an end of the year party. Then at his other preschool he has a graduation ceremony.
  • Isaak turns 3 on the 19th! I spent this weekend wrapping his packages. Daddy took Mica out to buy something for the Zeek man! We won't have a party for him until Memorial Day. Although I plan on doing something special with them this upcoming weekend.
  • I'll be changing my banner soon! I hope to next week!
  • I have finals {I'm a college art teacher}. I have 2 finals written. The other one isn't. I also have mountains of grading for two classes.
  • I have to take off of work for the relay race thing and a dentist check up for myself.
  • Grandma and Grandpa Apel are coming to town this next upcoming weekend. It will be nice to see them!
  • I have a giveaway going on here. It's to win Tropical Traditions Raw Honey, which is so good! Any giveaway I ever have going on are listed here. I have a tab below my banner that says reviews and giveaway. Check it out if you are interested!
  • I'm also being featured on Go Graham Go! this week. Felicia needed a guest writer, so I wrote about making Chocolate Chip Sugar Cookie Dough Balls. She said it would be posted on Tuesday. So check it out!
