Pick Geek Guitar & Bass Pick Set Review

The boys got ukuleles for Easter a few years ago. Are they masters at playing them? Not yet. They are practicing.

I just got Pick Geek Guitar and Bass Pick Set to review. They can work on Ukuleles as well.

First of all they have such great branding. The box, canisters, and picks are so fun!

I like that each pick has a different weight. The boys will use the ones with less weight for now. There is: Thin, Medium, Heavy, & Xtra Heavy. The heavy and xtra heavy are used more for a bass, or an acoustic guitar because they have thicker strings. The thin and medium are more for when you want to play a guitar quietly, and I'm sure the boys will use these kind for their ukuleles because the strings are thinner.

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday is all about me discovering something that is different. I don't want to post things that you and I have more than likely heard before. I want to find something different. It could be from another country, someone singing from the streets of NY, and more.

One of my facebook friends posted someone I was not familiar with. Grant Stinnett is this star's name. He's a bass guitar player. His style is engaging and unique. He mixes the technical with musical creativity. I have to admit that I usually like a voice to follow instruments, but he is quite different - especially in the 2nd song featured.

Grant picked up the bass for the first time at age 14. Soon after he picked up the bass he was performing in places like Berklee College or Music Performance Center. 

Grant has continued to play and perform, and also educates others on how to play. He has toured internationally as a solo musician.

It's soon Christmas time, so I'm loosely sticking with the theme of Christmas. The first song is Run of the Angles. When you listen close your eyes, and picture angles. Tell me what kind of angles you think of: Snow Angles, Angles on a Christmas tree, Ghostly Angles, or perhaps something different.

Primal is more experimental than Run of the Angles. I enjoy it a bit more.

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

I started doing what I call Sing, Sing a Song Saturday.  I'm going to post one song on Saturdays that the boys or I like. 

The song may be part of a movie, a kid's video or just a song we like. It may or may not include words. I'll try and include why we like it and/or the history of the song/singer.

I'm kind of later than usual posting something. What can I say? We've been busy.

This week I'm posting an excellent guitar player named Guy Buttery. He's from KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

You've probably never heard of him, but he's been featured in Guitar Magazine, has two national awards and has the sounds of The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Dylan and Bob Marley.

I've never listened to just guitar and was entertained by the sound. Guy Buttery does have 4 albums you can  download off Band Camp.

When we play music our kids and we {parents} get into it! LOL

Here's Mica dancing and later in the short flick is Isaak drumming. Mica's dance style changes with the kind of music playing. Here he looks, well funny!

Oh, we make fools of ourselves too! I'm behind the camera, but I was playing Mica's guitar, throwing the boys up in the air and flying a blanket around the room. Here's Daddy playing a mop like a guitar and wearing an empty Kleenex box for a hat, which he does often. Unfortunately this one was captured compact, so in other words low resolution. That gets me most every time with one video! Isaak's playing the drums on the love seat with foam bowling pins.
