WW: Indie Birthday Party {Linky}

My son Mica loves Indiana Jones. For his 9th birthday party along with the other birthdays close to his, I made an Indie poster. Mica is Indie, my sister Terra is Willie Scott, and my husband Travis is Short Round.

Mica got all in character. He was dressed to look just like Indiana Jones at 7 AM, when the party didn't start until 12 PM. It took a few test shots (his words) to make sure his hat was just right.

Mica was a little irritated that his Dad wouldn't dress up like Short Round, and his Aunt wouldn't dress up like Willie Scott.

He put the movie in just to have the intro play in a loop. You could say I was sick of hearing that after 30 minutes. It did make me smile though.

As soon as my parent's got there Mica posed at the door. My Dad opened up his trap and said, "Who are you a cowboy." He just about crushed Indie's little heart.

The kids were of course playing Indiana Jones in the backyard. They were pretending Natzi's were after them.

My Aunt Becky got him an Indiana Jones book, and activity book. She was excited that she found them for a $1 each. Then she put money in the pages. Mica said, "I really am rich now." They were dollar bills. He got a few Lego sets, and some books he wanted.

Here's part of the family:

I couldn't even fit them all in the shot. My small house + 19 people = fun and chaos. It's a good thing it was warm outside. The kids ate outside, and played on the Slip n Slide.

Usually I decorate an elaborate cake with the kid's theme on it. Not this year. Mica wanted Cheese Cake. Hey less work for me. :)

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

I started doing what I call Sing, Sing a Song Saturday.  I'm going to post one song on Saturdays that the boys or I like.

The song may be part of a movie, a kid's video or just a song we like. I'll try and include why we like it and/or the history of the song/singer.

Have you every heard of Fritz and the Tantrums? They do remind me of the 80's. They sound a bit like Duran Duran to me. It is repetitive and in your face, but much of the 80's was. They are an American no soul/indie pop band from LA. They started out in 2008 with their first release in 2010 called Pickin' Up the Pieces. They have been on many shows including Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and more.

What I like is that yes they have vocals (Michael Fitzpratrick and Noelle Scagges), but they also have a range of interments: Keyboard, Percussion, Saxophone, Flute, Guitar, Bass, and Drums. It's more lively than many other bands today.

WW - Indiana Jones {Linky}

These days Mica doesn't want to be called, "Mica." He wants to be called, "Indiana Jones" aka "Indie."

This is his Halloween costume that he's worn 2 days in a row and off and on before then. I really don't think he'll get sick of his costume before Halloween. He's REALLY into character! Everyone on the playground was calling him, "Indiana Jones." He told me that I'm the lady he saves in the end. ;) He knows he can't date until he's 16, so I'm the next best thing.

Oh...that is not a purse. It's a satchel. He keeps artifacts in it. This weekend his artifacts were plastic Halloween bones.

The only part of the costume he doesn't have yet is the whip. Yes it came with a whip. I'm not about to get that out early. I can see some damage done with that weapon.
