WW: Memorial Day {Linky}

We have a park here in Omaha, Nebraska called Memorial Park. Naturally on Memorial Day there's a ceremony that goes on every year.

We haven't been to the event in a few years. It just so happens that we usually have a family gathering during that day, but didn't this year.

On our way there my husband spotted a kite in the trees. Can you see it?

Someone lost a lion kite.

Here's a detail of a few trees we passed by:

A little mossy spot in a tree. I pictured fairies to live inside it.

My husband the tree hugger.

We had to wait awhile for speeches to begin. We brought a few blankets, and played a Spanish game on an American holiday.

The flag was pretty flying above us.

A jet flew by. Parachuter's jumped in honor of our Veterans.

Police officers and Firefighters were there in honor of our Veterans to.

We listened to a lot of speeches that day. I sent my husband away to go play with the kids. It was just too long for them to sit still. They stayed for most of it though.

While other parents pushed their kids on the swings, my husband swung with them.

I was thankful for men and women that died protecting our country. I was also thankful for family.

Do you do anything special for Memorial Day?

Memorial Day

Did you have a good Memorial Day? What did you do?

Usually we go to a Memorial Park. A few people make speeches. Then airplanes fly by and people jump out and land with a parachute. It's pretty cool to see!

We were going to go. Then Mica said, "I hate to tell you this Mommy, but I don't feel very good!" He felt warm, had no appetite, his tummy hurt and his lymph nodes were swollen. He was around Cousin Emerson last week. The evening after Emerson was around Mica, Emerson got it. All of Aunt Terra's family has had it. Now it's our turn. I don't know if the rest of us will get it or not. Isaak and Cousin Evan's birthday party was on Sunday night. Mica could have spread it to the other families that were at our house. Uggg!

We just sat around and watched movies most of the day. Daddy's really big about not letting them watch too much TV. Mica didn't even feel like coloring. He just looked out of it. In fact he laid down at 3 and slept until 5:30. I wish Isaak would have done the same.

Happy Memorial Day

I wanted to wish all of my readers a very happy Memorial Day.

I have one student that is in Afghanistan. I hope he returns safely, along with many other troops.

Plans for today: We're celebrating our nephew Evan's 6th birthday! I bought him a Melissa and Doug puzzle of the United States. How fitting for today. It says the state and capital as you put each piece in. Then we're also celebrating Isaak's 3rd birthday with my side of the family.

We're grilling out and I have to work on the cake. Whole Foods had a major sale on all their Santa Cruz organic 32 ounce lemonade's - 5 for $5! Then I made a Couscous Salad, friend's recipe I wrote down here. I'm making a cake that looks like a globe. Finger's crossed that it works out ok!
