@Getnamenecklace #jewelry #mothersjewelry

Today is Saint Patricks Day. The next holiday to pop up is Mother's Day.

Typically for Mother's Day I take my own Mom out for breakfast, lunch or dinner. As for me, the boys do the same. It's more of a - spend quality time with the Mom day.

This year things may be different. Because of COVID-19, going out to eat isn't recommended. Splurge a bit to get something a Mom would love! It will help those small businesses stay open!

Things to Purchase:

It's time to get a name necklace. I simply love the Engraved Family Stacked Circle Necklace. You could put children's names, Grand Children names, or even family last names: Your parent's last names, and your married name.

They always have the selection of:

Sterling Silver
18K Gold Plated Silver
18K Rose Gold Plated Silver

I don't know about you, but I love options! My top option is Sterling Silver, or White Gold.

You can pick the number of circles, based on how many kids you have:

2 to 5 circles

You have the selection of the chain length necklace sizes

14" 35cm for a child - if you want their parent's names on there
16" 40cm for a young adult - the length is equivalent to the collar
18" 45cm for an adult - dropping to the position close to the collarbone
20" 50cm for an adult - longer - dropping to the bottom of the collarbone
22" 55cm for an adult - even longer - close to the neckline

Prices vary on the different options.

Keep things personalized name necklace cheap

Personalization is important. I remember as a child having the name Alissa, it wasn't on anything. I was always so jealous of Jenny's and Sarah's. With Get Namenecklace you can put whatever names on it. Isaak and Mica can go on any Get Namenecklace item.

Namenecklace has:

Necklaces

Rings

Bracelets

Earrings

Watches

Cuff Links
Dog Collars
Keychains
Personalized Wallets
Lockets
Charms
and More!

Have you thought about what you're going to get your Mom, for Mother's Day?

Random Tid Bits

  1. On Isaak's last day of school he came out hopping. His teacher was laughing and said, "If I could record this to look back at different times of the summer I'd be happy." I knew exactly what Isaak was doing. He's had this goal of standing on one leg longer than anyone else to beat out the person in the Guinness World Book of Records. Will it happen? No. He gives up after about 30 minutes every...single...time.

  2. We finally took my mom out for Mother's Day. Ya a little late, ya think? One sister was out of town, and my parents went out of town as well. I always feel like we should just celebrate early in the month. Then we get it knocked out before school ends. Everyone gets busy. We could just celebrate Mother's Day, Father's Day and my birthday in one shot, but no one but me likes that idea. They all like celebrating Mother's Day and Father's Day separate because they deserve that time. Somehow my birthday gets skipped, but I don't care. I could sulk and say, I don't deserve that time? I'm the one that would like to lump them into one big meet-up.

  3. I did get some use out of that 30% off Khols card. Travis got 4 or 5 shirts there. I made him try on a taco shark shirt just to get a good laugh. We all laughed, including the lady waiting for her son to try on shirts.

  4. We only had Isaak with us shopping. Travis and I were both thinking, This is going to be wonderful shopping with just one kid. Mica was busy volunteering at the library. Isaak was a talker! He never shut up, and was in one of those extra goofy moods! Then Isaak stool Travis' hat to wear backwards, and proceeded to talk in an annoying voice that sounded a bit like Sponge Bob Square Pants. So much for the joys of shopping with one kid. At least he's cute in the picture.

  5. Back to shopping with my sisters...

I had one stop I wanted to go on. Shhh....don't tell, but I like to shop on my own without them.

    Here's the deal:

I bought 4 spools of thread for this art project I was working on. I had no idea what color of gold I needed. I didn't have the project with me, and I was across town. The thread was 50% off. Guess how much it was for all that thread? $25.25! My mouth dropped across the floor. I'm the girl that buys the cheap-o thread at the Dollar Store. Seriously! $25.25 for 4 spools of thread, which would have cost me over $50 had it not been on sale! I could get a whole kit that had just about every color of the rainbow + black + white + needles + a case for $15. I was beginning to think it was real gold, for that kind of money!

I literally went home, picked out the thread, and sewed 2", and that's ALL I USED. It's the top of the mason jar - only the gold. Not the black shadow, or white highlight stitching.

I wanted to return them all. I said, "I need to figure out how to get this to look like I never used it." My older sister, "That's not right. You used it!" Me, "I know, but barely. This crap is expensive!" Mind you her family has enough money to go on expensive trips. No ours! There you have it, she pulled the guilt trip on me. I know she was right. But...I barely used it, wouldn't use it again, and didn't want to spend that kind of crazy money on thread.

I went to the fabric store on my own, and returned it all. No questions asked. So it was morally wrong, but dang it. I remember when I went to college a teacher said, "Buy a book, use it for the references, don't mess it up, and return it." This was prior to the internet to use images for references. There you have it folks, that was just as bad as what I did with less than 2" of thread. Have you ever returned something slightly used? I know everyone's worn a shirt, found out they didn't like it as much as they did when they were in the store, and returned it.

Mama's #jewelry for #mothersday #anyday

I know it's after Mother's Day, but I got something special for the day. It's a Mother's Ring. I've wanted one for awhile, but Travis is always too busy to make one. It does take time!

I decided to go with NANA Princess Mother's Ring.

Stones: It comes with 1 to 6 birthstones. I got 1 Peridot (Mica's August Birthday) and  1 Emerald (Isaak's May Birthday). The cost is the same as you go up to 6 stones. It is cheaper to get imitation stones, which I did get.

Metal: Sterling Silver, 10k or 14k White, Yellow or Rose. I like White Gold best, second up is Yellow Gold, and my third choice would be Rose Gold. Each metal does make the cost of the different. What metal would you choose?

Since we're on a medical budget (my surgeries and Mica's surgery) we've been watching what we spend. For now I get a sterling silver ring. Later on I'll get a white gold ring.

Cost: It really depends on the kind of metal you choose, and if the stones are imitation, or not. If you go on the lower end the ring is $79, and if you pick the real stones for 6 stones and yellow gold for the metal the cost keeps going up.

I'm happy with it. It's kind of cool that both my boys have stones in the green family. The boys like that I got it as well. Isaak's asked to look at it up close. Mica's asked to take it off to try it on. I'm fairly cautious, but so are they. Isaak puts on and takes off my earrings all the time. He's so careful!

When I'm not wearing my Mother's Ring it sits here:

Mama's #jewelry for #mothersday

Moms work hard 365 days out of the year, so why give them another predictable gift this Mother's Day?

With the exquisite collection of mothers rings from Mama's Jewelry, you're bound to make this the most unforgettable Mother's Day yet! Each time she looks down at her ring, puts on her earrings or is asked about her necklace, she'll remember just how much she's loved.

I've never expected anything for Mother's Day. I usually just go out with my boys for breakfast. We often watch a movie - my choice. I really don't NEED anything. Having a ring with my kid's stones in it would be nice. Travis is capable of making one, BUT he's busy with gardening and making art.

Birth Stones:
  • My birth stone is Alexandrite, which is oh so expensive. Somehow the pearl has been June's alternative stone.
  • Isaak's is emerald
  • Travis and Mica's is peridot
What is your birthstone?

Do you like white gold, or yellow gold more? I like white gold better overall, but wear both. It just depends on my mood, and what I'm wearing.

Mother's Day

I hope if you're a Mom that you had a great day yesterday!

Mine started out with a heart card from Isaak that folded out to look like a flower. Isaak said, "Ok now everyone else give her gifts, and cards." He's the only one that had something. I told him, "Isaak that's ok. I don't expect anything. Thank you for your card. I love it!"

I try and make the day as low key as possible. Sometimes Father's Day gets bumped up a bit, but that's only because my birthday lands on it at times. Double whammy, double the fun. ;)

I've been wanting to try out a local place for donuts. We went to LaMar's Donuts. They exist in KC as well, so not exactly just here in Omaha. Close enough. I've heard they are super good. They were offering 1 free Red Velvet Donut with cream cheese frosting, and a coffee. I took it! Everyone picked out their choice of donut, and I got a Butterfinger Donut for us to all split.

Then we stopped by somewhere fast to get a Breakfast Burrito.

I chose to watch an episode of Little House on the Prairie. It's been a year or more since we've watched that. It's crazy how we've taken steps forward, and steps backward with our world. Medicine, scans and care have all gotten better than ever. Back in the pioneer days neighbor's had each other's backs, doctors would care for people even if patients couldn't afford it, doctor's would barter for care, they'd make house visits when needed, you didn't have to have health insurance, or worry about prices going up, they did what they had to do to survive.

Are we better - more advanced today then we were back then? My answer is in some ways we're better, and in others we're worse. What's your answer?

Isaak and Mica went with Travis to the park to practice their mad soccer skills. Mica's struggling. Travis felt like he picked up some things working with him one on one. He stays with the ball, but doesn't kick it hard. He more or less plays patty cake with the ball. That's what coach calls it. I'm just proud of him for trying. He's never asked to try any sport until this year. Way to go out of your comfort zone Mica!

I finished a painting on Mother's Day. I've had it nearly done for quite some time, but the idea sort of looked lame. I had to go a different route. I think it works. I'll try and share it tomorrow.

Then I made homemade Chicken Enchiladas. Travis said, "Are you sure you want to make those? It's Mother's Day." I said, "Certainly! Now go take care of laying the mulch down outside." ;) I made extra - for when I have surgery. I've been saying I'm going to start making extra dishes for that, but it hasn't happened until last night. Life is busy. It's not going to get any less busy, but maybe I'm holding things off to the last minute. Ekkk! Anyhow they were oh so good! I should have photographed it to share a recipe, but I was too hungry, and didn't think about it. Even the boys that usually say, "It's too spicy gobbled them up!" By the way they are both growing. Maybe that's why I can't seem to make enough food! Isaak and Mica ate 2 whole Enchiladas. We had side dishes as well.

My goofy boys and I:

What did you do for Mother's Day?

Mother's Day

Last night I met with my Mom (Grandma Spiehs) and sisters (Aunt Terra and Aunt Angela) to celebrate our Mother's Day with our Mom. We usually meet out somewhere to eat and shop for a bit. We had this outing planed before Mother's Day.

We went to an outside a place called Firebirds. I couldn't remember where it was located in the outdoor mall. I'm so bad with directions. I walked the strip front and back and could not find it. Finally when I knew I was close I asked someone. The sad thing is, is that I've been there before. Like I said, I'm BAD with directions! Oh well. I still got there before everyone else. The food was great! Except everything tasted kind of salty. I think it's just because I don't add very much salt to my food in general.

Then we went shopping around. I went into two kids clothing stores that I've never been in before. I've been to both Janie and Jack and Carters online; just not the actual stores. I didn't realize that Janie and Jack is a sister store to Gymboree and Crazy Eight. I liked everything in it, it was just so high priced. Carters was just ok. There was nothing I saw where I was like, "WOW that's cute!" If you are looking for just t-shirts, they are a great store to hit up though.

Usually I shop at Gymboree, Crazy Eight, Target and Kohls for the boys. They seem to have what I like. If you hit Gymboree at the right time, they have great sales! Most people think of Gymboree as being high priced, but I've gotten $6 jeans for Mica and $8 robot pjs for the boys in there.

It was nice walking around with my Mom shopping around. I only ended up buying one thing, but I wasn't out to buy anything. I found army green cargo pants for Mica at the Gap. Straight off the clearance rack for $11. My younger sister Terra says that Gap is cheaper than Gymboree. She must be hitting different sales then I am.

Many people think that malls are passing away. Do you think this is the case? Do you shop online more than in stores? For me it depends. I NEVER buy shoes online. I've made the mistake of buying shoes for the boys and then they are too small by the time they come to us. I also have to try clothes on myself before getting them. I don't like skinny jeans for Mica. He has such little bird legs. Skinny jeans make him look like a stick character. He just looks silly in them.

To end this post...here's a picture of Mica and Isaak on actual Mother's Day. We were at a movie theater. They saw the guns in the entrance. It doesn't matter if the games were running or not. They were excited to blast anything away. They turn anything and everything into a gun! Even Melissa and Doug Ice Cream Cones. This is a part of boys I've slowly had to try and understand. I grew up with sisters and my Mom had all sisters. We pretty much had a girl world before the many boys in the new generation came along. :) I wouldn't trade them for the world. I just wish I could shop for one little girl. So many cute dresses out there!

Today I Have No Voice

Laryngitis kicked in when I woke up this morning. I actually feel better then I did all weekend, but I can't talk. I hope I get my voice back. It's finals week! Ekkkk!

Getting ready this morning was interesting. Isaak couldn't understand why I was whispering. He kept saying, "What Mommy? I can't hear you!"

Yesterday was a good day.

Mica showered me with gifts. I got a handmade necklace and a hand print image. Daddy gave me a card. Isaak gave me nothing, but his Mother's Day gifts came last week with the Mother's Day Tea Party at his school. There he gave me lots of things! By the way I expect nothing for Mothers Day. To me the holiday isn't about material items. When the boys make me things at school, I definitely won't turn them down!

We went to Village Inn. I had a white egg omelet, a yogurt parfait and a German Chocolate pancake. I never thought about putting coconut on top of a pancake. It's good. When I told Grandma Spiehs about it she said, "Yuck!" Not everyone likes coconut. I didn't until I was an adult. They give every Mom a single carnation, which is super nice! Isaak had a funny face pancake meal. He ate almost everything! Mica had chocolate chip pancakes and applesauce and ate almost everything! I teased him and told him that he was going to give birth to a chocolate chip pancake. Daddy had a manly skillet meal.

Then we went to the grocery store to buy Grandma Spiehs a couple flowers. I didn't want to pay too much of a visit considering I felt crappy. We dropped the flowers off, talked for a few minutes and left.

We went home to unpack our groceries. There Daddy checked movie times. I got packs of veggies and fruit together for the movie. We went to see The Secret World of Arrietty at the cheaper theater. It was one of the first anime movies I've ever seen. We wanted to see the Avengers, but in the ratings it said it was best suited for ages 10 and up. Who knows. The kids like Hugo, and that's for that same age group. The Secret World of Arrietty was nicely written. The boys seemed to enjoy it.

We went home and the boys napped. Daddy called Grandma Apel, mowed the lawn and then joined me in picking more berries. We have a lot now! We'll get more soon.

I made salmon, asparagus and potato fries for dinner.

The boys helped Daddy work on what's called a 3 Sister Garden. I clean the muddy boys up, while Daddy cleaned their shoes. Then I swept all the main rooms, did a load of laundry and cleaned Mica's room. Daddy had to go into work. We had fun and we were productive. I couldn't ask for a better Mother's Day minus the cold I have.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day readers!

I don't expect to get anything for Mother's Day. I kind of think Birthday's and Christmas is plenty. Mica did make me a frame at school with a photo of himself in the center. Daddy took the boy's out last night to get me earrings, lotion and good smelling sample size hand sanitizer.

I set the boy's clothes out and Mica did not want to wear this shirt. I was an evil mom and told him that it would be nice for him to wear this shirt for me on Mother's Day.

To the left below the boy's were getting ready to fight over a leaf. To the right below Mica was trying to pose with his arm around Isaak; Isaak was being a punk, and was running away.

I knew one of our grocery stores was giving away a free breakfast with the purchase of any other breakfast, so we went there. Isaak gobbled down a ton of food! Mica said it was the best breakfast he had ever had.

Now I'm attempting to make homemade crayons. I've been saving the drip wax from the printers at the school I work at. I'm melting the wax in a tin can, and pouring it in candy molds. If this works I'll buy better candy molds. Something a little more fun for the kids. I only have typical chocolate candy looking ones. I want to see if it works though. I'll also post about it if it's a success! The only thing is, is that the wax is dark in color. It colors green, black or blue, but looks black. I'm recycling something that would be thrown away anyhow.

I thought making crayon's would be fun for the kids, but Mica cranking about wanting to watch a movie, and Isaak's had 2 time-outs for hitting and spitting. It might be a trying day. We will see. Maybe I'll give in and let them watch a movie while the wax is melting. I can get their patches they earned at the Lowes Kid's Clinic sewn on their apron's from yesterday.
