WW: Ugly Sweater Day {Linky}

My work had an ugly sweater day. I don't have an ugly sweater, but got an ugly sweater t-shirt. I also wore a light up snowman pin that my kids happen to love. Then I topped that off with a Cabbage Patch Kid wig for part of the time, and a Santa hat for another part of the time.

My husband looked at me when I was wearing the Cabbage Patch Kid wig and said, "That doesn't work."

I said, "Really? I think it's perfect for ugly sweater day. Sweaters are made of yarn, and it's ugly/funny."

He said, "No!"

I brought the wig to work anyhow.

I started out with the Santa hat:

My co-teacher got to work, and didn't have a hat to go with his ugly sweater. I let him borrow mine. I wore the Cabbage Patch Kid wig. My students and co-workers seemed to love it.

Here I am with my students, and a few co-workers. I'm in the middle, towards the back, and my student is holding his hands up like I have antlers.

It was a fun day.

Do you own an ugly sweater?

Something

Isaak often asks me how to spell words. I don't usually pay much attention as to what he writes. I just spell the words for him.

The other day he wrote this:

It says, "I an do a something."

It's much better than a nothing.

Vocabulary

Mica's always had a very good vocabulary for his age. Since he's started reading he asks what some words are. Most words he gets right. He does WAY better than I did when I was his age. A few words stick out, and I'm thinking, "What?"

Then when I understand what he is asking. It's just so cute. I almost don't want to correct him. I do though. He wants to know the word, and what it means.

The first one is "Revens". What he meant to say was, "Ravens". It's a Lego Chima thing.

The next one is "Leo Nart O". What he meant to say was "Leonardo". I think I like his version better. He's talking about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, but I think it sounds very artsy with the "Nart" in there. It's much more Leonardo da Vinci. By the way I'm quizzed every other day on what turtle I like best? I really could care less! I usually say, "Michelangelo" just because at one time I thought it would be cool to name Mica, "Michelangelo" and call him "Mica" for short. Daddy didn't dig that at all. The boys fight over who likes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that most. Mica thinks there is no way that Isaak could like them as much as he does. I tell them it's a lost argument, they just need to understand that they both can like the turtles.

Mica asked me what "Ver trict" means? I had trouble with that one! I had him spell it. He spelled out "Verdict". It was in reference to a cartoon he was reading. No clue which one. That one is a hard one to explain to. I explained it in terms of someone possibly doing something bad, if it's decided that they are guilty that is their verdict. If they decide they didn't do anything bad their verdict would be innocent.

The next one he asked me was what's "Ass on d"? I looked at what he was reading and could tell right away what that word was supposed to be. It's supposed to be "Assassinated". He was reading this book:

Are there ever words you don't want to correct your kids or grand children from saying wrong? I find some words so cute, that I don't want to correct them.

Confession: I used to take Isaak to McDonalds to hear him say, "MickerDonalds". It was just so stinking cute. I know I'm probably going under for taking him to that processed food place.

Oh the Things They Say

Isaak's been full of crazy talk lately.

Two nights ago he was looking at my earrings and said, "Mom I can make you a pair of earrings. It would be really easy! I just need to get some of my pipe cleaners, cut off all those fuzzy things, and bend them to look like earrings. They would look really good on you."

Lucky for me he couldn't find any scissors the next day.

Yesterday he tried on Daddy's boots and said, "Mommy when Daddy dies I want these things."

I'm so glad he's thinking about what he wants when we die. -Sarcasm

Later that day he said, "When you and Dad are gone, I can use my belly powers and get pregnant to have babies."

So he loves babies, but he says he hates girls.

We went to a learning store just the other day and he wouldn't sit between two girls. Girls have cooties as far as Isaak's concerned. That's so opposite of Mica. Mica has always loved girls. Isaak says he hates all girls he doesn't know. He likes the ones he knows.

He wants to marry me when he grows up. He kisses me on the cheek and often whispers, "Mom we're married." I whisper back and say, "It's illegal for us to get married Isaak." Isaak said, "What's illegal mean?" I said, "I can only be married to Daddy, not my son." Then he pouts.

Crazy Traits

I wanted to blog about these traits that the boys have before I forget them.

Mica's been talking then his lips keep moving even though he's done talking. It's almost like his lips say another sentence after he says the sentence. You just can't hear any words. I mentioned this at conferences to his main teacher and the speech teacher. They both said to ignore it. They said that kids sometimes go through crazy things like that. It's just a phase. I really want to video tape him doing it just to show you what I'm talking about. It's really odd. Of course if I did that, I'd bring attention to it. He also blinks a lot when he's tired.

Isaak says: "Dendent" for Didn't, "Selery" for Sorry, "Suncunt" for Second, "Ermasen" for Emerson and "Micker Donalds" for McDonalds. The last one cracks me up the most. A few I've mentioned on here before. Isaak demands that I say, "Goodbye" to his potty before he flushes it. Odd, I know. I think all preschoolers have a little oddness to them. They are little, funny people. ;)
