#bamtape Review

Since it's been snowing like crazy, I started a new painting. I only have the underpainting done. That's the background. I sprayed a canvas black. Then used a plastic bag to paint with. 

I incorporated Bam Tape to my work this time!  

The tape comes in seven different colors:

• Purple
• Yellow
• Green
• Orange
• Teal
• Red
• Blue

I took Bam Tape, and ripped it length wise to put it across the canvas. I painted gold there, and sprinkled sand. The tape came up so well!

It ripped easily to put down, and came up off the canvas well too!

I'm going to paint some under the sea plant life on the sand. Then I'm going to paint some jelly fish in the water. One jelly fish will be trapped in a jelly jar. 

Like I said, I've only painted the underpainting. It will get there.

Uses for Bam Tape:

• To create a mask for acrylic painting
• To put on furniture
• To put on a floor as a play town
• To add an image to a wall 
• Many more uses

It goes on many surfaces. It's easy to go on, and easy to come off. Don't use it for die cutting machines.

Random Tid Bits

1. I reviewed a game. It took up 3 times to play before we got it. In the process Mica and Isaak argued a lot. Certainly not as smooth of a review as I was hoping for. 


2. Isaak had Doctor Seuss things he was supposed to do all week. Has he done any of them? Nope. I think he's ready for Spring Break already. 


3. I'm heading out to Mica's school to honor him for getting first place in the Science Fair. He should be honoring us for helping him. Ha! I skipped the event last year because of class. This year I was determined to go. I found someone to cover for me. Then it snowed. The event date changed to a different day I have a different class. The same person is covering for me. When they schedule things during the day it's a mess.
   
   
   
   
   
4. We still don't know where Isaak's going to middle school at. We filled out the paperwork, but haven't heard back.


5. The streets are FINALLY getting cleared of snow. It was a mess this last snow!

The Doll Maker’s Gift @RoseTheaterCo - Review

I picked the snowiest day of the year so far to go to The Rose Theater. It was so worth it. I needed a break from the house!

The show we saw was called The Doll Maker's Gift. As soon as we got there Isaak said, "I'm going to see this show with my school as well." I said, "Double the fun!" 

It was hard to get a good photo of the boys because it was so cold.

We didn't have to wait too long for the show to start. My boys love to read through the program.

Nora is the star of the show. She reminded me of myself. A doll lover, that's super imaginative. Nora lived in a Russian Jewish community that faces the Pogroms of the 1900s, a time of ethnic cleansing of Jews in Russia.

After their cousins' village is attacked, Nora's family is threatened, her family is forced to flee to America.

They discover at the last moment that they don't have enough funds to pay for everyone's passage. Young Nora will have to stay behind, with the threat of attacks ever increasing. She is left with a family friend, a kind doll maker who offers to care for her until they can earn enough money to pay for her journey to America.

Nora and the devoted doll maker show that all obstacles can be overcome with the help of good friends and community.

This show featured original music and an essential story drawn right from history, The Dollmaker’s Gift is an uplifting exploration of what makes humanity great.

I had a talk with the boys about how show that the show meant way more than girls and dolls. It was a feel good show. Don't tell anyone, but I cried when Nora made the voyage with her Mom and sister.

The show is at The Rose Theater in Omaha, Nebraska from February 22 - March 10, 2019.

Lobby doors open 45 minutes prior to the show starting. I certainly would get there early to get a seat.

The show is best for ages 8 and up. I can tell my boys will stay interested if it is for older kids.

The End of the Show:

They had a question and answer session. I liked that one of the main stars was there to answer questions. Then there was an autograph signing as well.

I'm really glad we were able to go! I enjoyed it, so much!

WW: Wintertime Blues {Linky}

I think about this totally at the wrong time - I need to bump up the Vitamin D! I've been feeling so blah!

The kids have had 5 snow days. I had to look up the number because I lost track!

The latest snow was the worst - 10" on top of snow that was already on the ground. I don't know about everyone else, but we're out of room to put it. Our driveway is in a hole with walls on each side.

Before the big snow...my husband's sculpture looked like this:

Right before it got dark! Everything was really quite!

Two days after the big snowfall, it took me 45 minutes to get home from work. It usually takes me 11 minutes. The streets were and are horrible. It's been a long time, since we've gotten that much snow. When the plows were out, it was in the thick of it. The wind was blowing everywhere. They have to try and clear the streets because some people like doctors, nurses, police officers, firefighters, and so on have to go to work. The snow just drifted everywhere. The temperature dropped, so no salt was working. Everything was turning to ice. Downtown has 1 lane roads; when they usually have 2. Cars were stuck here and there all over.

Watch your step, black ice!

I have never worn my rain boots more than I have this year. This kind of ice is fun to step on.

Ice is hanging from my front porch. When I drive I hear crackling and shattering noises. It's not glass! Ice is falling to the ground. I literally have carcicles.

Has it snowed where you live? I know we're not alone. My friends in Missouri have gotten it too!

Random Tid Bits

1. I'm back to feeling yucky. I swear it's from the dry air. I've had a steamer going every day at work. My one at home broke, so I should go buy another one. It just keeps snowing! 








2. We get comments that Mica looks so much like Travis. I think both boys look like both of us. I'm the one stepping into the boots, and Travis is the one by his sister.
   
   
   
   
   
3. Whenever I see a money change thing - pictured below I think of Pizza Rolls. My husband was waiting to eat some because they were so hot. I said, "You're eating them wrong. You have to bite an edge, open it up like a plastic change purse, and blow." He knew what I was talking about and laughed. 
   
   
   
   
   
4. This week we had 2 people drop. It's sad, but if they are not all in, then they shouldn't be here. 
   
   
5. Mica has some weirdness going on with his skin. Surprise not really. It seems like the boys always have some skin thing going on. We've had Ring Worm from the mats at the Y, warts, rashes all over from something outside, rashes from mud at camp, eczema, Isaak has a birthmark on his spine which is a big deal apparently and more.
   
   Here's Mica's newest weird thing (see pictures below). It's a brown blotting, discolored skin. It's flat. He wasn't born with it. It doesn't bother him. It started out on his arm, and now is below his ear. I emailed pictures to his doctor, and they wanted the boys to come in. We skipped their last yearly well check. I thought it was dirt, and was trying to wash it off. It's not going anywhere.
   
   It's kind of like how dark skinned people can get Vitiligo, but the opposite. It really looks the most like Melasma. Melasma usually forms on the face on women that are pregnant. Have you ever had a random oddity happen with your skin?

Ingredients:

On Maple Holistics' website they only list key ingredients. On the bottle they have everything. I looked up all of them. Most of them are oils, some are acids that restore the moisture in your hair. There are some foaming agents, and fillers. I couldn't find one that is harmful. If you do have any sensitivities to coconut oil, then this may not be the shampoo for you. I actually do well with coconut oil. 

• Water
• Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate - It's a surfactant-cleansing agent in cosmetic formulations. It is recorded as being safe.
• Cocamidopropyl Betaine - Because cocamidopropyl betaine originates from coconut oil, even some personal care products labeled as natural still contain it. Although the government regards the ingredient as safe, some people do have negative reactions after exposure to it.
• Sodium Lauroamphoacetate - It is a yellow substance derived from coconut.
• Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate - It is the salt of the coconut fatty acid. It is a soft white paste and is derived from coconut. It's used as a cleaning and foaming agent.
• Sodium Lauryl Glucoside Carboxylate - It is a foaming agent that is derived from glucoside from coconut and corn.
• Lauryl Glucoside Copolymer - It is a yellow substance derived from palm kernel oil, corn sugar, or coconut. The ingredient is a substance formed by mixing alcohols and sugar or glucose.
• Coco-Glucoside - It is a foaming agent derived from renewable raw materials such as coconut oil and corn and fruit sugars, and is completely biodegradable.
• Glyceryl Oleate - It is produced from oils that contain high concentrations of oleic acid, such as olive oil, peanut oil, teaseed oil or pecan oil.
• Caprylhydroxamic Acid - Is an amino acid derived from coconut oil.
• Glyceryl Caprylate Glycerin - It is an vegetable oil and water mix that restores the oils of the skin, regulates the skin moisture and acts as a humidifier to the skin.
• Sodium Hyaluronate - It is the salt form of Hyaluronic Acid, a water-binding ingredient that has the ability to fill the spaces between the connective fibers known as collagen and elastin.
• Silk Amino Acids - A key ingredient in many hair products for boosting hair growth. These jelly-like proteins lock the moisture in the hair.
• Argan (Argania Spinosa) Oil - It is most commonly used as a skin moisturiser to hydrate and soften skin. It has high vitamin E and fatty acid content.
• Sodium PCA - A sodium salt of pyroglutamic acid.
• D-Panthenol - It is a derivative of vitamin B5. It helps maintain moisture.
• Botanical Keratin - The outermost layer of our skin consists of a protein called keratin, this means that keratin is produced and exists naturally in our bodies.
• Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis) Oil - It is likely very helpful in treating dry scalp and dandruff issues. It's also rich in vitamins and minerals.
• Natural Vanilla Fragrance - Not needed, but makes your hair smell nice.

Directions:

I always think directions for things like shampooing your hair are kind of silly. Who doesn't know how to wash their hair effectively? Ha! Here are the directions anyhow...

1. Rinse Hair
2. Massage Quarter- Sized Amount Throughout Scalp
3. Allow it to Set for 2 to 3 Minutes
4. Repeat - Many shampoos with more natural ingredients have you repeat.
5. Rinse Well

Pop Trivia and Totally Trivia #games @GoliathGamesUS Review

I heart games! I'm an advocate of kids playing some video games, but a lot of card games and board games.

My kids have never had a video game station. No Playstation, or Wii. They do have Kindles with some games on them. Their time in playing with those is limited. They do use their Kindles for other things like watching videos, and looking up things for homework.

What are the positives when it comes to board games and card games?

Mica's always been a kid that does pretty awesome in school, but lacks some skills at home. I think games help him.

Goliath Games sent me Quiz Master Fantastic Pop Trivia - Questions From Every Genre, Every Decade and Quiz Master Terrific Totally Trivia - The Complete Quiz Game to review.

I love both games! 

• They don't take up a ton of room. They stack easy. 
• These are games that are great for the car, and traveling.
• There's 2 games, so each boy will get one for Easter! 
• The games should help Mica with his favorite thing at school - Quiz Bowl.

How to Play:

Both games are played similarly. If you are playing with teams, make sure they have the same amount of people, and are around the same ages. If young and old adults are playing, put young and old adults on each team. 

Roll the die to pick which team/player plays first. This team/player then states which decade or category they wish to venture and rolls the die. The team/player to their left takes one of the cards from the decade or category and reads out the question. 

If the first team/player chooses Rock and Pop and rolls a 6, they will be asked questions 6 on the rock and Pop card. 

If the team/player answers the questions correctly, they keep the card. If not, the card is returned to the bottom of the draw pile. 

Each team/player takes a turn.

As the team/players get different categories or decades right, they don't have to answer any more questions from that, and move on to other categories or decades. 

The game keeps going until all 6 categories or decades have been answered. 

*You could play in the car with just asking questions for fun. At that time you wouldn't play with a die at all. There would be no winner, or loser. Just time would be passed.
