I have been looking for a shampoo that suits my hair growth + deals with dryness. I haven't gotten my hair cut, since well before the pandemic started. Even though I'm vaccinated, I still have this mindset that I shouldn't go to places unless I have to. Do you still feel like you shouldn't go out and about, while COVID is still a thing?
Along with my hair getting longer, I straighten it. It's not curly, more like very frizzy! It gets dry.
I think I finally found the shampoo I've been looking for.
This shampoo is for thinning hair and hair loss. My hair has always felt thin in comparison to my sister's thick hair. Biotin shampoo pairs with a conditioner to support healthier, fuller-looking hair.
It came wrapped in plastic, to ensure there was no leaks in the shipping process. I'm not one for waisting packaging, but I have had liquid products leak so it's great they are careful with their product.
I've washed my hair(s) three times, since I got this shampoo. It makes my hair feel silky. I don't really feel the full feeling yet. Maybe that will come. I plan on using this shampoo after three washing of the other shampoo I have. Then it stays healthy, yet I use up product that's sitting around.
I like that this shampoo is for guys and girls. It's annoying to have tons of products in the shower just because brands market to one sex or another. This shampoo doesn't seem girly or masculine. It's just great shampoo.
What's in it?
Biotin oil, Pisum Sativum - Pea Sprout Extract and Pro-Vitamin B5
When I put it on my hand it's really clear. When I rub it into my hands it suds up a bit. Shampoos are actually best if they don't suds up a lot. If it does, that means that there's a lot of chemicals in it that are harmful.
If your hair(s) feel thin, and/or get dried out then this product is for you. Biotin Shampoos are popular hair thickening products for women. Ditch the hair loss treatments for hair growth. Natural shampoos are going to be important for hair health.
Cost:
1 Bottle (Single Pack) - $26.45 per bottle | 3 Bottles (Recommended) - $21.50 per bottle | 6 Bottles (Super Saver) - $18.40 per bottle
I think that's a pretty good cost actually.
What shampoo do you use? What hair type do you have?
Disclaimer: I got this product for free in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This shampoo helps make your hair stronger, smoother, silkier, and healthier.
Since it keeps snowing I need shampoo that helps with dryness, preventing dandruff and split ends. There are a lot of healthy oils in it, so YAY!
It works great on both natural hair and colored hair.
It's sulfate and paraben-free! I look for that because I have a problem with sulfates.
The shampoo its self is made in the US!
Maple Holistics is for recycling. I wish that would rub off on my work. ;) I'm pro reusing and recycling. It's important to me that we take care of our home AKA Earth.
Ingredients: On Maple Holistics' website they only list key ingredients. On the bottle they have everything. I looked up all of them. Most of them are oils, some are acids that restore the moisture in your hair. There are some foaming agents, and fillers. I couldn't find one that is harmful. If you do have any sensitivities to coconut oil, then this may not be the shampoo for you. I actually do well with coconut oil.
Water
Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate - It's a surfactant-cleansing agent in cosmetic formulations. It is recorded as being safe.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine - Because cocamidopropyl betaine originates from coconut oil, even some personal care products labeled as natural still contain it. Although the government regards the ingredient as safe, some people do have negative reactions after exposure to it.
Sodium Lauroamphoacetate - It is a yellow substance derived from coconut.
Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate - It is the salt of the coconut fatty acid. It is a soft white paste and is derived from coconut. It's used as a cleaning and foaming agent.
Sodium Lauryl Glucoside Carboxylate - It is a foaming agent that is derived from glucoside from coconut and corn.
Lauryl Glucoside Copolymer - It is a yellow substance derived from palm kernel oil, corn sugar, or coconut. The ingredient is a substance formed by mixing alcohols and sugar or glucose.
Coco-Glucoside - It is a foaming agent derived from renewable raw materials such as coconut oil and corn and fruit sugars, and is completely biodegradable.
Glyceryl Oleate - It is produced from oils that contain high concentrations of oleic acid, such as olive oil, peanut oil, teaseed oil or pecan oil.
Caprylhydroxamic Acid - Is an amino acid derived from coconut oil.
Glyceryl Caprylate Glycerin - It is an vegetable oil and water mix that restores the oils of the skin, regulates the skin moisture and acts as a humidifier to the skin.
Sodium Hyaluronate - It is the salt form of Hyaluronic Acid, a water-binding ingredient that has the ability to fill the spaces between the connective fibers known as collagen and elastin.
Silk Amino Acids - A key ingredient in many hair products for boosting hair growth. These jelly-like proteins lock the moisture in the hair.
Argan (Argania Spinosa) Oil - It is most commonly used as a skin moisturiser to hydrate and soften skin. It has high vitamin E and fatty acid content.
Sodium PCA - A sodium salt of pyroglutamic acid.
D-Panthenol - It is a derivative of vitamin B5. It helps maintain moisture.
Botanical Keratin - The outermost layer of our skin consists of a protein called keratin, this means that keratin is produced and exists naturally in our bodies.
Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis) Oil - It is likely very helpful in treating dry scalp and dandruff issues. It's also rich in vitamins and minerals.
Natural Vanilla Fragrance - Not needed, but makes your hair smell nice.
Directions:
I always think directions for things like shampooing your hair are kind of silly. Who doesn't know how to wash their hair effectively? Ha! Here are the directions anyhow...
Rinse Hair
Massage Quarter- Sized Amount Throughout Scalp
Allow it to Set for 2 to 3 Minutes
Repeat - Many shampoos with more natural ingredients have you repeat.
Rinse Well

I've used argan oil on my skin, to flatten my fly away hairs, but have never used it in shampoo before. That is until now. I have to be careful with skin irritations because of my allergies. Argan Oil is super great for you! No worries about breakouts for me.
Maple Holistics makes some of the best shampoos! I got Argan Oil Shampooto review and giveaway!
About Argan Oil Shampoo:
This shampoo has really a great haircare formula. It has not just one, but six healthy oils packed into this 8 ounce bottle. It's great because during the winter time especially my scalp gets super dry, so these oils help prevent the flaky scalp that leads to dandruff.
The oils also feel like you get a head massage. Who doesn't love a head massage? I've always sworn that there should be back scratchers, and head massage therapists out there. I think I'd go to either or those before I would a traditional massage therapist, and I don't like anyone messing with my feet. Seriously this shampoo feels wonderful on the scalp!
Maple Holistics is proud to support The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence! For every bottle of Argan Oil Shampoo sold $9.99, Maple Holistics will donate $1 to NCADV. Buy your bottle today!
Ingredients:
Aqua
Argan Oil

It's for all skin types, which is great because I tend to get a bit dry in the winter and my husband is always the opposite. It's also sulfate free, which totally makes things better for my allergies.
All these oils help not just with your hair, but also your scalp. This shampoo will help tame unruly hair, and will prevent hair from breaking.

I have to be careful about what I use on my hair and body. I try and not use anything with sulfates in it. I just find when I use products that have sulfates in it I get more skin irritations.
Maple Holistics makes one of the best shampoos I've used! It's Tea Tree Oil Shampoo.
Usually when I use sulfate free shampoo I have to wash my hair twice. Other stuff just doesn't seem to foam up. This shampoo does!
Why Would You Want to Stay Sulfate Free?
Sulfates strip your hair of its natural oils
If your hair is colored and you use shampoos with sulfates the color won't last as long
Sulfates make your hair dried out and frail
Sulfates may irritate your skin
Ingredients:
I was expecting no red flags. It is way better than other shampoos in the stores. There are a few ingredients in the beginning of the list that are questionable:
Sodium Cocoyl Lsethionate - is milder than sulfates. It's an agent that makes the shampoo foam.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine - is a thickener and an agent that makes the shampoo foam. It's derived from coconut oil and dimethylaminopropylamine. It can cause skin irritation, although the government says it's safe to use.
Sodium Lauroamphoacetate - Is a mild cleaning agent. It is a toxic ingredient.
Those are just the first 3 ingredients.
There are a lot of great ingredients as well:
Argan Oil
Tea Tree Oil
Lavender Oil
Rosemary Oil
Jojoba Oil
Directions:
Rinse your hair
Massage a quarter-sized amount throughout the scalp
Let it sit for 2 to 3 minutes
Rinse
It was really easy to use for sure!
Cost: $25 on sale for $8.95!

Just about every thing I need is in the box! You'll need a few containers, but all the ingredients are there! There were 5 cute recipes cards that were included in my shipment.
Directions: 1. Add 10 drops of each essential oil to roll-on bottle. 2. Fill the rest of the bottle with Camellia Seed Oil. 3. Roll onto the skin gently beneath the eyes.
I was and still am excited about this one! I have such sore and tired eyes right now with these polyps + allergies + add my period in there. Hey at least the last one will come before my surgery next month. The Under Eye Serum works so wonderful. It's great they added two roll on bottles in the box. They are a little harder to come by in my house.
Natural Shampoo + Body Wash
Recipe: 2/3 cups Liquid Castile Soap + 1/3 cup water (there was an error on that I had to get corrected) + 2 teaspoons of Camellia Seed Oil + 10 drops Cypress Essential Oil + 5 drops Juniper Berry Essential Oil
Directions: 1. Measure out all the ingredients and combine in a bottle with a squirt top. 2. Shake gently before each use. 3. To use, squirt onto a washcloth, bath proof, or directly onto your body.
I will be trying this, but right now I have plenty of shampoo and body wash.
Natural Conditioner
Recipe: 1 cup Water + 2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar + 10 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil + 5 drops Cypress Essential Oil
Directions: 1. Mix ingredients together in 8 oz spray bottle. 2. Shake bottle before using and then spray hair. 3. Leave in hair for 5 minutes then rinse.
I will be trying this, but right now I have plenty of conditioner.
Natural Facial Cleanser
Recipe: 1 cup filtered or boiled Water + 1/4 cup liquid Castile Soap + 5 teaspoons Camellia Seed Oil + 10 drops Geranium Essential Oil + 2 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil + 2 tablespoons Raw Honey
Directions: 1. Add the ingredients in the order listed and stir together gently. 2. Put the mixture into your foaming soap dispenser and your face wash is complete. 3. 1 or 2 pumps is all you need as the Castile Soap is very concentrated. Use once or twice daily.
I'm hoping to start making this for Mica to use! Puberty is hitting him now.
Directions: 1. Place cotton rounds in a small, seal-able container. 2. In a small bowl add 1.5 tablespoons of Camellia Seed Oil. 3. Add 1 teaspoon Castile Soap to a container add the essential oils. 4. Use to naturally remove makeup. *Note: The recipe card did go from 3 to 5, so I hope I don't miss a step.
I have to be honest I don't wear very much makeup. Often just using a mild soap like the Natural Facial Cleanser will do the trick. I probably won't make this one. I know people that would use it!
Body Scrub
Recipe: 1/2 cup Sugar (I used White Sugar, but you could use Brown Sugar) + 1 ounce Honey (I used local Honey + 1 ounce Camellia Seed Oil + 10 drops Geranium Essential Oil + 10 drops Juniper Berry Essential Oil
Directions: 1. Add the ingredients in the order listed and stir together gently. 2. Store mixture in an air-tight jar. 3. Scrub body to remove dead skin cells and be refreshed.
I am super happy with this Body Scrub! It makes my skin so soft after using it! This would be great as a hand scrub as well. Travis is particular has super dry hands from work! Plaster does his hands in! Next time I may double the recipe to share some with my Mom. The Oils and Fillers:
Juniper Berry $11.99 Individually
Lemongrass$6.99 Individually
Geranium $13.99 Individually
Cypress $9.99 Individually
Their oils are all pure, and not filled with extra chemicals. The best part about getting this package for me, I can smell all the oils. Yep I can smell with all the meds I'm on right now! Some smells aren't great smells like garbage and the compost filter that needed to be replaced. These smalls are wonderful!
These 2 fillers came with the set as well. I already had some Castile Soap, but I didn't have any Camellia Seed, which is great because I've been wanting to try it! They sell the Camellia Seed separate for $9.99. Castile Soap only comes in the box, but it's easy to find in any natural store.
Costs:
12 boxes (over 12 months) is $35 per box
3 boxes (over 3 months) is $39 per box
1 box is $49
Out of the recipes Simply Earth put in their box, which one would you most want to try?

One thing I've never tried is dry shampoo. I've always wanted to though. This last week I had a chance to try out Alterna Dry Shampoo Bamboo Leaf dry shampoo.
It was packed so well. The whole product was covered in plastic. That guaranteed that no spray came out.
About Dry Shampoo:
This is a virtually translucent dry shampoo that is designed to absorb oil, product build-up, and impurities to extend the life of your blowout without leaving any powdery residue.
Use it to give volume to freshly washed hair with a fresh bamboo leaf scent.
Why Dry Shampoo:
It helps you have a lot of build up of other products in your hair.
During allergy seasons I have to keep my hair clean at all times. I can't have pollen in it, and sleep on it.
This shampoo is so convenient because I can wash it anywhere at any time.
During the winter months some people get really dry. Everyone would love to take a shower daily to stay clean, but it's not always in the cards for dry cracking skin. With dry shampoo you can keep your hair clean.
What it Doesn't Have:
No Parabeans
No Sulfates
No Phthalates
No Synthetic Color
I'm so glad there's no sulfates. My body hates them.
Cost:
$18.50 for 4.75 ounces.
Disclaimer: I received Alterna Dry Shampoo to review. I wrote this post, and was not influenced at all with an opinion. I only review things that I find interesting, or that would benefit my readers.
My boys have had sensitive skin most of their lives. I truly think their skin troubles started when they were given a lot of antibiotics when they were babies. Soon after all those antibiotics they started getting eczema that they didn't have prior to that. Whenever they have a flair up probiotics help.
I'm careful about what I use on them for bath products. Oftentimes I still buy them baby shampoo and wash. I recently got InstaNatural Baby Shampoo to review.
It came all wrapped in plastic, and the handle was in lock position. It wasn't hard to unlock the top.
It has a really cute giraffe vector image on the front with a pattern of spring graphics. It's gender neutral.
How did it work on my boys?
They like it. It doesn't have any artificial dyes or scents added. It does have some chemicals added to help it suds up.
Specialized Blend of Fruity Extracts:
Cucumber
Kiwi
Apple
Cranberry
Pomegranate
Blueberry
Strawberry
These extracts in addition to Sunflower Seed Oil give your baby the nourishment and hydration he or she needs to grow healthy-looking hair.
Cost for 20 oz:
$29.97, but on sale for 12.95
Disclaimer: I received this InstaNatural Baby Shampoo at a discount for the purpose of this review. The opinions are 100% mine.
It's a tear free formula that can be used to gently cleanse your child's delicate skin and hair. It's perfect for kiddos that have a dry scalp. My boys both had baby eczema on their scalp when they were itty bitty.
It's says it's for babies on the bottle, but on Amazon it says it's for kids. Thankfully my kids do not care what it says. They'll use whatever I give them to clean themselves.
Cost:
It's $24.99 and on sale for $17.96. I think that's a pretty good cost considering it's organic and all natural. I've priced out similar shampoos, that were way more in cost. Gaia Organics Shampoo and Body Wash doesn't skimp on the amount. They fill it to the rim in their 16 ounce container.
All Natural, Organic Ingredients:
Distilled Water
Lavender
Organic Olive
Organic Safflower
Organic Sunflower
Organic Coconut
Poly Glucoside
Natural Beet Powder
Xanthan Gum
Aloe Vera
Citric Acid
*SLS-Free, Paraben-Free, Free of Petrochemicals and Other Harmful Preservatives and Additives.
Lavender:
I have to say I'm not the biggest fan of the scent lavender. When I was pregnant with Mica I got a stretch cream that had lavender in it, and it was a scent that didn't agree with me. The lavender in Gaia Organics Shampoo and Body Wash is relatively light. I can smell it, but it's not overpowering.
Lavender is known to be soothing and calming before bedtime.
PDF Book:
The company sends a PDF book on caring for children, which I thought was a great!
What My Kids Thought: Both Mica and Isaak used Gaia Organics Shampoo and Body Wash. It does foam up, but not a ton (because it's free of harmful chemicals). They happened to like it.
Are you careful about what you use on your skin?
Disclaimer: Gaia Organics sent me this product free in exchange for a review.
Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
I'm pretty picky about what goes on my skin. I had a huge reaction from Methosulphate once. It was in a lotion I was using. Ever since then I've been trying to use sulphate free everything. I'm not always perfect, but I try. I have to say that my hair feels so much better after making that jump.
I got Dead Sea Mud Shampoo by Adovia to review. It contains Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E & Chamomile for a natural formula that gets results.
Characteristics:
Helps to Relieve Itching from Dry, Flaky Scalp & Dandruff
Specially formulated for dry, itchy scalps & Dandruff
Helps to Relieve Symptoms of Scalp Psoriasis & Seborrhea Dermatitis
Made with Pure & Natural Dead Sea Mud for an Infusion of Essential Minerals into Scalp & Hair
Also Contains Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E & Chamomile for a Natural Formula that gets results
The cost is $23
Outcome:
I've never used any mud products at all. Part of me has wanted to try mud masks, but I haven't.
I expected this shampoo to be thick, but it's not.
The shampoo did make my hair feel oh so soft! I wasn't expecting it to suds up. Many natural shampoos do not.
I love how a little seems to go a long way!
I looked at the ingredients, and it does have sulphates in it. Daddy has no problem with sulphates, but I do. He's using the rest of the bottle.
It is a great product for anyone with a dry flaky scalp.
