WW: Accident | PSA | New Car

A month ago I was in a car crash. I was driving my 13 year old Isaak to school. I was going the speed limit. Out of no where this car was driving all crazy like through a red light, when mine was very green. It was dark, airbags went off in my face. My car wouldn't do anything. The next thing I knew the car I hit just started driving away.

The crazy thing...he left behind his in transit sticker along with some glass. So I have a name, 3 witnesses that were on my side, but the cops can't do anything because it's not enough to get a search warrant. He of course went into hiding. I looked the guy up online and he has tons of videos of him drinking hard alcohol and smoking pot, while driving. Get this he's a proud lover of Jesus Christ though. He wears a cross around his neck like it means something to him.

We had taken our 16 year old car off accident insurance, so it was a loss. I actually was ready to buy a new car, but was waiting for the pandemic and shortages to come to a stop. Travis said it looked like I lost a baby or something when he came to get Isaak from the scene. It felt surreal sitting in a cop car in the middle of a busy intersection. I couldn't get out to take pictures, There was bars separating us like I was the one that did something wrong.

I was lucky I was wearing my seatbelt, and the Isaak was in the backseat. My chest hurt for weeks. Then it itched inside for a few more weeks. My knee was really bruised up.

I've tried to find the car that hit me, but the guy has like 4 addresses online. If I find it they can have a cop meet me, or do a search warrant. I wouldn't find him for me. He has no insurance. His car isn't even registered. It would be to get him off the streets.

I spent a few weeks just with my husband's car. I drove him to work, Isaak to school, and repeated that at the end of the day.

My husband finally said, "No more." I said, "How do we do this with the pandemic?" We went to Subaru, and bought this Crosstrek. It's a brand new 2021. I guess it wasn't bought because people didn't like the color. I was just glad it wasn't ultramarine blue. There's nothing wrong with the color, but my Civic was that color, Travis' Outback is that color, and he had a truck that color. I was just done with that color for us. Green it is.

It took a bit to get used to driving without putting a key in. I couldn't stand the engine shut off feature, so for now that's off. I felt odd driving after the accident for awhile. Isaak felt the same as a passenger. Switching insurance was a pain in the ass. I had to go to the DMV a few times because the one I used to go to isn't there anymore and the one I went to didn't have plates as a feature to get. DMV's are something! I'm glad I have a car that runs.

WW: Sit/Squat {Linky}

Mica sits, stands or squats like this:

He does it even in his chair. We're constantly saying, "Mica sit down on your butt!"

At every store we go to, Mica finds a book and sits/squats to read. One time he wouldn't follow me. He said, "Mom I have to read this." I just kept walking, and he kept reading. I hid. I could see him, but he couldn't see me. He sat/squatted there for 5 minutes with no care in the world that I was nowhere in sight. When he was done with his book, he went all over the store trying to find me. He was walking so fast I lost him, but soon found him again.

Want to enter some low giveaways? I have 2. One is to win 2 pillow protectors US and the other is to win a night cream that takes wrinkles and lines away. It's called Nerium US and Canada.

WW: Preschool Crafts {Linky}

Isaak brought home a few crafts from preschool early last week:

He was so proud of his angel. As soon as a complimented him on his beautiful angel, I turned around and could not stop laughing. I was laughing because it's so cute. It's mixed with pretty wings and a rough kid drawing of a face.

Then when the children passed away at the school in Sandy Hook Elementary I looked at Isaak's angel sitting there on our table and cried. He has no idea that his little angel has a new meaning now.

He also made this cute Gingerbread House:

WW: Robots {Linky}

They had a display of robots at Strategic Air and Space Museum this weekend. I of course wanted to get pictures of my boys with them. One of them ran off, so I didn't get his picture. The other one stayed and even took a shot of me.

I should have used flash. Mica's low in contrast.

Did you ever see the movie Robots? It's such a good movie!

WW: Mica's Circus {Linky}

Two weeks ago I came home to a circus. Mica built his own circus in his room.

There was a sign taped to the floor outside his bedroom door. It said the time of when the circus started. I came too late, but he let me see it anyhow.

The Fisher Price Little People that I stashed away, the boys got out once again. I put them away because they weren't playing with them; only to find out that they want to play with them once again.

Mica's bed was draped over like a circus tent. Isaak's toy tape measure was a tight rope. Little People and animals were lined up for the show. Then he had a Madagascar canon that went off.

Here's Mica's circus:

It reminded me of the artist Alexander Calder's Circus made in 1927. If you do not know who he is, he discovered the mobile. He had a miniature traveling circus that he'd perform in front of people. You can see it here if you'd like.

WW: Vintage Car {Linky}

My mom's cousin, which would make it my cousin once removed, which would make it my boy's cousin twice removed has an old car. Did you follow that? He drove it to the family reunion. He drove the boy's around a state park. It turns out that, that was the highlight of our family reunion to Mica.

Here the boys are pack in like sardines in the back of a vintage car:

 From left to right: Mica, Isaak, Cousin Elijah, and Cousin Evan

Off they went:

WW: Awkward Family Photo {Linky}

There's a perfectly good explanation as to why Daddy looks absolutely ridiculous.

Mica had to get t-shirts for his jujitsu class to fit under his uniform. I got him some.

Mica opened the package and said, "Mom these will never fit me!" I said, "Mica they are small and made to stretch. I know they will fit you, they are a size 7-8." He put it on. Mica said, "WOW Mom you are right. It did stretch."

Off he went into our bedroom to talk to Daddy. I heard Mica say, "Daddy this t-shirt fit me. It stretches! You can wear one to!" Daddy said, "Mica it won't fit me! It's a kid size!" Mica said, "No really Dad it stretches. You have to try it!" So he did...

Ready for it?

I had a hard time keeping the camera still I was laughing so hard! I did get a good shot though.

WW: Art in Chicago {Linky}

There was a  lot of sweet art that we saw in Chicago. I'm only going to show you a small fraction of what we saw, which is still a lot!

Mica loved looking at Roy Lichtenstein's work!

Did you know he created sculptures? I didn't. I've had so many art history classes; I had no clue he created sculptures.

Almost everything he does is painted in dots.

I'm not sure who created this piece, but it's flipping HUGE! It's in the interence to the Chicago Art Institute Museum.

This is my favorite sculpture we saw by Jean Dubuffet. I always liked his work, but never saw it in person.

 Now you get to look inside the sculpture.
