In China...

Mica had a friend over and each kid kept getting left out at different times. Daddy had to explain the concept of what a third wheel is. I had to explain what it is like to have a younger sibling. My friends always wanted to play with my little sister AKA Aunt Terra.

This was one of Isaak's favorite things he got for Christmas. I don't always get why Isaak likes the things he does. Hummm...like the plastic babies he's played with since he was 2 years old. Anyway he was super stoked about his new Spider-Man fishing game that he got from Aunt Angela. Somehow I knew he would be.

Mica's friend wanted to play this game with Isaak. They had total disregard that Mica didn't want to play.

The boys started playing with Nerf guns when the game was being set up. The game just sat. No one wanted to play it anymore.

Isaak said, "I don't want this game anymore." This is totally untrue. He may not of wanted it at that moment in time.

Mica's friend said, "Well give it to someone that does want it. How about you give it to a child that didn't get ANYTHING for Christmas?"

I was thinking, I like where this is going.

Isaak looked at Mica's friend in question and said, "Who?"

Mica's friend said, "I know the perfect place to send it! You can send it to China! They don't get Christmas at all!"

I think that game was made in China. They sent it to us, so we could play with it.

For the record Isaak's been playing with the Spider-Man fishing game once again.

He Got Punched in the Nose!

Mica woke up this morning with dried blood on his nose. He had gotten up in the middle of the night to take care of a bloody nose himself. We never budged because he never woke us up.

He told me that he had a bad dream about a thunderstorm and punched himself in the nose to get the bad dream out of his head. Then his nose started bleeding. Disturbing to say the least! I told him not to punch himself in the nose, or anywhere else for that matter. Then I mentioned that he can wake us up to talk about his bad dreams!

I knew something was bothering him. Yesterday evening we had nasty looking clouds hovering above. Everyone wanted it really quiet at Aunt Terra's house, so they could listen to the meteorologist on the TV. Mica was really quiet and cuddly after that.

He has told me before that he doesn't want to travel anywhere where there are hurricanes and he hates when there are thunderstorms. I mentioned that all places have disasters that happen. I also told him that it's normal to be afraid of storms and such. He just needs to talk to us about his fears.

Even though he's scared of storms, he is intrigued by them as well. As humans I think it's natural to want to know more about things we find dangerous. Then when we know too much we're scared of what we've learned.

I'm not glad Mica is scared of storms, but I am glad that he is scared of something. He has always been that kid that seemed fearless. He's rode on rides and had no fear. Bugs and snakes do not scare him. He's always loved water dumped over his head at bath time. He climbs things pretty fearless.

As far as the punching himself in the face to remove a thought; that's not good! It concerns me. I want him to feel comfortable to talk to us. He seemed to understand that it's not cool to punch yourself in the face. I hope that was a one time thing.

I know I've done silly things like that before. Someone told me once that rubbing a pencil on your skin in the same area long and hard enough would leave a forever mark. When I was about 8 years old I did that; not long enough for it to be permanent though. I also tried to dig in the sand at recess time with my friends when I was 5 years old. We were trying to get to China. That never happened.

Last Night We Watched This Movie:

The Karate Kid. For a long time, I didn't want to see the movie. I just thought it was silly that they would make a movie off of another movie that was so good already. I've heard excellent things about it; and gave it a chance. It's not at all the the others. I just don't understand why they didn't call it: The Kung Fu Kid?

Image found here.
It was a good movie! I think Jaden Smith is a great actor! He's looking more and more like his Daddy, Will Smith!

The movie did get me worked up a bit. This is good. A movie should make you feel something. I just hate how some kids are treated in schools. Bullies can be really bad. I was glad the main character had someone that could help train him to stand his ground.

Besides the bully issue, I felt bad that this kid had to move to China. Imagine the impact of having to move to another school, the language barrier and custom changes to boot!

I was so glad it ended happily!

Fixing the Chimney

We got a new roof. They did a good job, but the chimney needed to get attached better. They came back this evening to fix it. I think it was a problem because they needed one guy inside, and another on the roof. When they did the job, we were not home most of the time.

Mica and Isaak were completely transfixed on a stranger walking in and out of our house. The man that was working was talking on a cell phone to the person that was on the roof. Only he was speaking in Spanish.

Mica said laughing, "What is that China man saying?"

I said quietly, "Mica he is speaking Spanish, not Chinese. He's from Mexico."

Mica quickly went to get the globe to point out where both China and Mexico were both at.
