Random Tid Bits

  1. The kids have Spring Break next week. It seems crazy because it's not spring yet.

  2. I told the kids that this weekend we're going to work on a lesson plan form for the week they are off. It will include: A theme every day for them to write a story, draw a picture or 2, a cleaning task, flashcards, a building activity and once they are all done with that stuff they get to watch a movie, or have Kindle time.

  3. We went to see Kung Fu Panda last week. Did you know that if you hit up theaters on a Sunday morning it's $5 to get into a flick? I'm not going to be a spoiler with the movie just in case you haven't seen it. I will say that we liked it a lot. I don't agree that it's better than the other 2. We laughed the most on the first one. The second one was more serious, and dark, but important. This one is great to. They're all fun in my opinion.

  5. I made dinner a few nights this week. We're talking gigantic meals, where we'd have lunches carry into the next day. That's not unusual for me, but I often time get help. One night I was majorly off. I was making Stir Fry, I had the sauce prepared, and dropped it. The glass measuring cup broke all over, and the sauce was everywhere. It was not fun cleaning that up! This is the 2nd time I've dropped, and broke my 1 cup measuring cup. Do you have times where you drop things a lot?

  6. My Dad has a Stress Test next week on his heart. I hope they find something out for his sake.

Kung Fu Panda Party in the Works

My son Mica wants a Kung Fu Panda party. I created invites to it last night. He loves the out doors, so the party will be outside; where kids can run freely.

This is the image I based it off of:

A few weeks ago we met up in a park and Mica saw these poles sicking out of the ground. He plopped up on them and pulled a Karate Kid. Except he had his tongue hanging out. :P

That's part of what gave me the idea to create his invites that way.

Now I just need to have the party. 10 first graders and a 4 year old brother seemed a little much to me. Daddy works on the weekends. I decided to call for back-up. My niece that's in high school will be helping me on this one!

I got Panda treats at the Asian Market for party favors. Once I know who's coming I'll get Asian fans or coin purses for the girls and Karate Kid Spinning drums for the boys.

I thought I'd make a water balloon pinata.

water pinata! Great idea for Summer Party

Should I make PBJ Sushi Rolls or Rice Crispy Sushi Rolls? We're having cake to. I'll set out carrots and a fruit of some kind to. It's not for a meal, so I don't need a lot.

I thought it would be so funny if I could find fu manchu mustaches for all the kids to take pictures of them. I don't know if that's going to happen though.

Labor Day

I had a list of different ideas of things we could do on Labor Day. There was hiking, zoo, shopping, Kung Fu Panda at the dollar theater and a few other things. What did Daddy pick? Shopping, Kung Fu Panda and he wanted to go to Canfields (a local camping/outdoors shop). One thing for each of us to enjoy.

We went to 4 stores in the mall, to look at a Thomas train set display, to eat a Panera Bread Company for lunch, to Kung Fu Panda 2 and then finally to Canfields only to find that they were closed. It wasn't a surprise that they were closed; that's the thing Daddy wanted to do. :(

Shopping wasn't too bad with the boys. They were a little crazy at times, but great overall. I love that Gymboree has a TV! That makes shopping in there a breeze!

I've learned at Panera to only order one kids meal. Their kids meals are big enough for me. I've been bringing cut up veggies; since most restaurants lack in that food group.

Kung Fu Panda 2 was better then Cars 2 in my opinion. It just seemed to naturally fall into place, and didn't seemed to be a forced sequel. The lady in front of us handed over some popcorn. She said she got way too much, and she got refills. We took it in and thanked her. Isaak ate it like it was going out of style. Mica won't touch popcorn. In the movie, the bad character was a peacock, which totally cracked me up. Mica used to be obsessed with peacocks. Kind of odd for a little boy, but he loved them! He got mad when we didn't see peacocks lurking about at the zoo. He also argued when he visited the farm in preschool about the fact that they should have peacocks there. Aunt Terra gave him a few nudges as if to say, "SHUT UP MICA!" :) I even bought Mica a two handed Folkmanis Peacock Puppet he named "Viro."
Found here. No I did not pay that much for it! I paid $30 plus shipping.

Isaak fell fast asleep in the car. Unusual! Why can't he do that on trips? Maybe it's the hat that made him drift off into la la land. Of course when we got home he wouldn't nap at all.

Love Me Tenders!

  • Daddy told me the other day he was playing an Elvis cd.
  • Mica started cracking up when Elvis sang the song, "Love Me Tender."
  • Mica said, "Love my tenders?!?"
  • In the movie Kung Fu Panda, the panda get's kicked in his private area, and say's something like "Oh my tenders!"
  • Mica and his cousin Evan have adopted that term for their private parts.
  • I'll never think of Elvis' romantic song the same again! For now on I'll crack up every time I hear it!
