Sleepy 😴

Isaak and I are going to start taking melatonin. Ever since May happened I haven’t slept well at all. At first I blamed it on me having to wake up at 4:30 AM, for Fresh Thyme, but it’s stayed persistent.

Isaak’s always been more difficult than Mica in regards to sleeping. He oftentimes pops up out of bed at 10 to get water, or to use the bath room. I often wonder if he ever fell asleep. His doctor wants him on a small dose of melatonin.

I was always pretty iffy on the med. There hasn’t been a lot of studies done with melatonin and kids. But Isaak’s past the size of a small adult, so I feel better about it.

Have you struggled in the sleep department, since the pandemic hit?

40!

Travis turned 40 this last weekend. We had a discussion: Is 40 over the hill, or is 50? I said that it depends who is celebrating it. It's up for interpretation. He thinks it's 50.

We went out to a highly recommended Mexican restaurant the night before. It wasn't open on Sundays. It was good.

I gave him a few small things. We agreed that getting new cell phones this summer would be our gifts for our birthdays.

On his birthday we went out to breakfast. He thought it was funny that one of his artist friends was sitting near us, but he didn't see him. Travis was sent him a message on facebook to see if his phone was set up to chime when he got the fb message. He was even being a creeper, and took a photo of him. We were laughing.

The boys were not our children that day. Meaning they were brats. I only say this because usually they are nice kids. They went to bed about 9:30 Friday and Saturday nights. I know my boys - when they don't get their sleep they are punks! I'm not excusing their behavior. It's just the way they are.

Isaak got himself dressed in a shirt that was way too small. Then he wanted to wear his straw hat. I made him change shirts, but told him I didn't care if he wore the hat. Apparently Travis cared. That was an issue.

We went to the zoo and Mica and Isaak kept saying how much they hate the place. I don't get it.

Isaak and Mica kept pushing each other. Isaak would yank on my arm and purse going up hills. Both boys tried touching the water and fish in the Desert Dome. Even after they were told not to. Mica was talking about how he was starving even though we had a late, and huge breakfast. They were just being naughty!

But...Isaak would stop and say, "Mom can you take my picture?" Everyone else had grumpy looks all day. So...I got lots of Isaak shots.

We went home. The boys ate lunch, took a bath, and layed down for a few hours. I told the birthday boy to go relax in a hot tub of water.

Have you ever had a birthday where you celebrated, did fun things, but it was not a very good birthday? I felt bad for Travis. After Isaak napped he was back to his singy, whistling self. Mica never napped, so he was a selfish punk that went to bed early.

1000 Thread Set of 2 Cotton Pillowcases Review

One thing I have a lot of is pillowcases. Why? It's a simple answer really - Allergies. I wash the pillowcases with every load of laundry I do.

I'm very happy to introduce you to Yorkshire Mayfair 1000 Tread Set of 2 Cotton Pillowcases that I got for review.

With so much washing my pillowcases either stand the test of time, or they do not. Having a high thread count certainly helps!

This is after we slept on them overnight. They got a little wrinkled on the edge, but I think anything would after being slept on. Travis' pillow is a chiropractic pillow, so pillow cases are awkward on it. It still fit. They are comfortable!

I love the brown color with our bedding. White, or cream pillow cases stand out like a sore thumb.

I washed them in cold water before use, dried them, and they came out virtually wrinkle free prior to sleeping on them.

They are not cheap: $59.99, but they are on sale for $19.99. The high thread count makes the cost up there. I'm here to tell you the cost is so worth it. They last longer then other pillowcases. They do not shift at night, and are comfortable to sleep on.
  • 100% Cotton
  • Sateen Finish
  • Ultra Soft

They do have several colors available. I chose brown because it goes with our bedding. I love the color!

How often do you change your pillow cases?

Sleep

Can you tell that they each have different interests?

This one is all about reading. He loves when I tell him to go to bed early, so that he can read.

This one is all about his stuffed animals. I found this dog in the back of our closest. Daddy takes things they treasure when he's fed up with them. I washed it, and gave it back to Isaak 2 years later. He's been caring around the stuffed dog ever since.

New Zeepo Strapless Sleep Mask Giveaway

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial. I've been so behind with finals and Christmas around the corner. I've been using the New Zeepo Strapless Sleep Mask and Dream Essence Sleep Serum for awhile now, and love it. I just haven't written about it.

The Zeepo Mask is $19.95 on their website. It is really comfortable because it is soft and strapless. It comes with double-sided tape that is FDA- approved, which are medical grade hypo-allergenic and latex free.

I was a little worried about applying tape to my face just because my skin is so sensitive. It worked out just fine. The tape doesn't bother me at all. Included with the Zeepo Mask is 2 sheets of disposable adhesive (36 strips). That's enough for 18 nights of sleep. They help the mask to not slide around, and block out 100% of the light. I've even used the mask without the tape, and it alone blocks out a lot of light.

Sometimes Daddy is up later than I am, or I'm up later than he is. When that happens this mask can be used. To clean it you just hand wash it. It's so small it takes no time at all.

The Dream Essence Sleep Serum was such a great bonus. It's only $2.95! You just dab a small amount behind your ears, or temples. It helps Daddy go to sleep. I on the other hand fall asleep so easily with, or without the serum. I've just always have been an easy sleeper. The serum does feel good to put on, and it smells so good! The aroma and your bodies absorption of the essential oil mix is designed to relax and help you drift off to slumberland.

It's Giveaway Time!
A US reader is going to win a Zeepo Strapless Sleep Mask and Dream Essence Sleep Serum by Dream Essentials.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Someone couldn't stay awake when the boys watched a movie. Mica kept saying, "Dad you have to watch this part! It's so funny!" Daddy must of had dust in his eyes, that's what he says when he can't keep his eyes open.

Isaak is wearing shorts.

Sunglasses

This is what Isaak looked like tonight on our drive home:

It was raining and sleeting out; he was wearing sunglasses. I can always tell when he's going to drift off because he doesn't want to talk about his day, nor does he want me to talk to him.

It was a crappy drive home. I had to stop for gas; there was a wait. I don't blame everyone for wanting to get gas in their cars before the snow starts to fall in MAY. It's supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow.

The street I was on was very backed up. Then an ambulance was going down the street that crossed mine. The street that I was on had cars in the other lane that were trying to out race the ambulance. I was thinking, What the heck? Their emergency is much more important than you, or I needing to get home! Then a car in my lane was honking at me to go. I wasn't about to try and out race the ambulance.

Isaak missed the ambulance bit. He was fast asleep; with his sunglasses on.

We came inside, ate and played Memory all evening long. Isaak says, "Ya Baby" every time he gets a match.

Bubbles and Sleep

Isaak loves our bubble mat. I get it out many once every three months. This is the only time I add bubbles to his bath.

A Bath He Had This Last Weekend

He gets all giddy like when it's bubble time. My kids have rarely went in stages of hating bath time. They even love water going over their heads.

Last night was a little different.

Isaak hasn't pulled a temper tantrum in a long time. He's been whiny, but hasn't had a full blown temper tantrum. Last night he did.

He wanted to go swimming at the Y. I told him, "Ok go get undressed and get your swimming suit on." Part of getting undressed is that he needs to put his underwear and socks in the hamper, put his jeans and shoes away. I always take care of his shirt. He wouldn't put things away. I warned him about how if he didn't take care of his things, we wouldn't go to the Y. He still wouldn't do it. I took away the Y. He cried, threw a craft popsicle stick at me, and screamed, "I want to go live with Grandma and Grandpa! I want to go to the Y. You are mean! I want to watch a movie." Then kept repeating this stuff like a broken record.

I started up a bath because he needed one. I was hoping it would divert his thinking. I didn't add the bubbles though. That's only for good, happy boys. Still he likes baths! NOPE! He kept right on screaming. Only this time he was saying, "The water is too cold!" It wasn't. I kept checking.

I brushed his teeth, which the water was too cold for that as well. Then I got his pjs on, put him to bed, said, "I love you.", and poof in 5 minutes it was quiet. He slept from 6:15 PM to 6:30 AM.

Sometimes bubbles are the best medicine. When bubbles are out of the question, sleep is the BEST medicine.

I Thought We Had Allergy Issues

Maybe we do have some allergy issues. We have more than that. Mica, Isaak and I must have had a cold. It's no wonder...the weather really can't make up it's mind.

It seems like between seasons is when a lot of people get sick. This year after every major holiday we've gotten hit with something.

We usually get it from Aunt Terra's clan. Cousin's Elijah and Emerson are always sick it seems.

Isaak got worse last night. Then today he had a fever, didn't want to eat, didn't want to drink and didn't want to walk. Yep I carried him from the house to the car. I won't be able to do that too much longer. He's getting heavy! It's a good thing I don't carry him around on a consistent basis. That's just asking for back problems.

On the way home from Grandma and Grandpa's house this is what Isaak looked like:

I told him we could cuddle and watch a movie. He fell asleep, while I was doing dishes. Tired sick boy went to bed at 7, but more like 6:30 if you factor in sleeping in the car, and while I was doing the dishes.

Sleep truly is the best medicine for sickness.

Good Old Boys

Ahhh...sleep does wonders. I put the boys to bed early two nights in a row, and on Friday they were GREAT!

No tempers at all that day or evening.

We went swimming at the Y and it was fun.

We played an odd form of tag in the water. One person was a shark, the next one that was tagged was a whale, then it was a jelly fish. We were buzzing around the swimming pool trying to keep away from these dangerous things.

Then Isaak, Mica and I pretended we were Stay Puft Marshmallow Men from Ghost Busters. Daddy swam up to us and we all had our cheeks puft out. We were stomping around in the water. He's like, "What the heck?" Then I told him what we were.
