Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

I started doing what I call Sing, Sing a Song Saturday.  I'm going to post one song on Saturdays that the boys or I like.

The song may be part of a movie, a kid's video or just a song we like. I'll try and include why we like it and/or the history of the song/singer.

I discovered the wonderful singer named Amos Lee. Have you heard of him? His voice just makes me want to melt. He just has a beautiful voice!

He's an American singer-songwriter whose musical style has folk, rock and soul influences. He was born in Philadelphia and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in English. He started out working as a schoolteacher and bartender. After that he began to pursue a career in music.

He has recorded five albums and toured opening acts for all kinds of very well known people such as: Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Van Morrison, Dave Mathews Band, Adele, and more.

Every live song I heard of his was just as good as the recorded stuff. That's a true artist for you.

WW: Mica {Linky}

We stopped off in a rock shop on our trip to South Dakota. Our son Mica saw his name.

What is Mica anyway? It's a shiny silicate mineral with a layered structure, found as minute scales in granite and other rocks, or as crystals.

I Love Kids That Rock Out With Their Parents!

I've seen this team before. They've been on YouTube. They became a hit and are now on a car commercial. This is by far the best song I've seen them do.

Do you rock out with your kids/Grandkids? We do. Both of our boys like They Might Be Giants and the Beatles.

Here are a few of my fondest memories:

I only wish I would have shot this with better lighting and higher resolution!

Everyday Uses Rock and Card Set

I was really excited to see the giveaway going on at New Age Mama! It's for a Everyday Uses Rock and Card Set. The giveaway comes from a company called Educational Insights.

This would be perfect for Mica's birthday. The spelling of his name is from Mica that shinny flakes on some rocks. You can see Mica below.

Daddy also has a small rock collection going. We collect arrowheads too.

We ROCK 2!

  • I'm so addicted to playing with putting our faces in JibJab video's!
  • It's just so funny to see a little kids face rocking out!
  • The best one I did was so not appropriate. It was a Chippendales one. They didn't strip. It was so wrong, yet so funny! Daddy and I were laughing the whole time it was playing. We did not show the kids that one.

Personalize funny videos and birthday eCards at JibJab!
