Crazy

On Sunday we took the grandparents out to eat lunch.

The boys had a 4 day weekend due to conferences. Believe it or not, but my kids like school a lot. I think they were aching to go back for routine purpose.

Mica was extra squirmy during lunch. He was super sound effecty all weekend. He pulled the know it all, 3rd grade attitude with us. It really drove us nuts.

Daddy wanted to hang out with his in-laws AKA my parents more after lunch. I wanted to get home to do yard work, laundry...

I knew Mica just needed to run, or something to work off that energy he had bottled up.

We stopped off at a park on the way home, and Mica ran.

Mica ran around the park twice. It's a ways. Isaak walked around once. Isaak behaved fine all weekend, so I didn't push for him to run.

I think this is what Mica needed. He didn't argue about running. He just did it.

I'm not too mean. After Mica ran the boys played. They got to be as loud as they wanted to be.

Daddy ripped Isaak's shoes off when he was pushing him. Isaak thought that was pretty funny.

I never saw them have so much fun swinging. Usually they go for the other equipment.

Mostly I got butt shots of Isaak. HA HA

Sometimes kids just need to let loose, and have fun.

We went home, and worked all day after playing!

  • I sucked up leaves, processed leaves to put around trees, bushes, and put compost down over a garden spot, and put leaves over them
  • Daddy mowed, and picked more peppers (it was a great year for peppers!)
  • I cut all those peppers to go in the freezer
  • The boys raked the front yard, an cut the sedum down
  • Mica picked kale for the next day's breakfast
  • Then I did 2 loads of laundry
It was a full day!

Spring

Summer is the new spring around here. It's been shorts weather.

I decided it was a good day to go to the park. The one we went to is in our neighborhood, but also a ways a way. I packed up PBJ's, carrots, clementines, water and off we went.

Isaak said a handful of times, "Mommy why can't we just drive instead of walk? It's so far..." We walked anyhow.

We ate lunch and then the boys played.

Mica saw a few girls close to his age. He struck a conversation with them. They seemed to like him back. Mica thought the two girls were sister's. They said, "We're not sisters! We're BFF's." Of course Mica has no clue that BFF stands for Best Friends Forever.

A boy that was just about to turn three kept following Isaak around. Isaak kept saying to me, "Mommy this boy keeps following me." Then he'd move away. Isaak's pretty anti social with strangers. At preschool I guess he's just fine with being social.

Then I came home and made these dirt cookies for Isaak's preschool:

See how to make them on one of my other blogs here.

Swinging

This weekend we celebrated Grandma Spiehs' birthday and Uncle Eric's birthday. We decided that it would be best to leave Mica with Daddy. They both didn't feel too good. I just didn't want to chance Great Grandpa Kent and Cousin Emerson to get the cold we have. As it turned out, Mica did pretty good most of the day; a day later Isaak got the cold. This time a year we just can't win with that!

Isaak went outside with his cousins: Ethan, Evan and Elijah.

Isaak with Ethan. His oldest boy cousin. He belongs to Aunt Angela.
Grandpa Spiehs is pushing cousin Elijah. Cousin Evan was doing the butterfly swing with Isaak.
Watching them get down was interesting.

Isaak didn't know what to think of no one swinging with him. He decided to swing himself (Isaak style).

Day at the Park

Yesterday I volunteered to take my two nephew's Evan and Elijah off my sister's hands. We went to a near by park.

Right away the kid's shouted out, "Isaak's the monster!" Isaak was running around making monster noises at the other kids. I can't stand that they do this! I told all the kids that we're not going to have a "Bad Guy" or "Monster" today! I then took Isaak to a swing to get his mind off of being a monster.

While I was pushing Isaak on the swing, and watching the other boy's play, they quickly had nominated Cousin Evan to be the tornado! He had an orange ribbon thing he had gotten from VBS, and was swinging it around like a tornado. The other kids were running in what they called "The basement," which was the lower level of the play area. There always seems to be a "Bad Guy" in the group. I suppose it's not any different then playing tag and saying, "You're it!" No one wants to be "It". Isaak always is picked to be the "Monster" or "Bad Guy" in this group of 4 boy's. I don't like it one bit!

Here's Evan and his version of a tornado. At least it's more creative then "Bad Guy" or "Monster!" I'm sure this was really great for Mica's fear of storms. Knowing him, it was probably his idea.

I let them run off lots of energy! That's kind of the goal in taking these boy's out of the house! Mica and Cousin Evan are in the grass. Isaak and Cousin Elijah are on the man made ground.

Then we went for a walk to see ducks and went across a bridge. Whenever I see boy's on a bridge playing, no matter what age they are I think of the movie Stand By Me.

Mica kept running back and forth. The other boy's found and branch, broke it apart to push it through the fence. They had fun!

Then we went to a near by learning store. Mainly we talked about what we had at home already and what they'd like to have. It started to sprinkle, so we went back to Aunt Terra's house.

The boy's played good. I think they miss each other. Cousin Ethan showed up (he's in 6th grade) and belongs to Aunt Angela. He gives Cousin Evan and Mica hammy down toys. They were both ecstatic to get a new to them Transformer!

That evening we turned around and went for a walk to yet another park; where Mica will be going to school. They just got all new equipment. The boy's were really excited to play! It was fun to watch.

Omaha Children's Museum Flicks

This was one of Mica's favorites!

I don't think they get how this toy is really supposed to be used.
