Organinka Maca Powder Review

I love breakfast time! It's my favorite meal of the day!

I try to make it semi healthy. We always have something green on our plates, some form of protein, a carb, and a smoothie with more greens, more protein, and fruit.

I put Maca Powder in our chocolate chip waffles this morning. It has more calcium than milk does. It's nice to know that this meal will fill up our boy's bellies. Isaak has basketball games on Saturdays, so he needs more protein added to his diet.

Waffles:

  • 2 Cups of Whole Wheat, All Purpose, or Bread Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Maca Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Coconut Sugar or Brown Sugar
  • 2 Mashed Bananas
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Vanilla
  • 6 Tablespoons Coconut Oil (Melted)
  • 1 2/3 Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk, Cashew Milk, or Cow's Milk
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup Dark Chocolate Chips
The waffles were so good! Actually the whole meal was great! I was only bummed that I had to wait to eat because I needed to take pictures and a video. ;)

About Organinka Maca Powder:

  • It's organic!
  • It's non GMO!
  • It's a superfood!
  • It's from a herbaceous plant native to the high Andean Mountains of Peru.
  • Because it's from a plant I was expecting it to be green, but the powder is actually a tan color.
  • It's comes with 16 ounces in the bag. I do wish the bag was a bit smaller to reduce packaging. The bag is bigger than the powder it holds.
  • It's $12.99, which is a great price.
  • It's versatile! You can add it to any bread product, smoothie,  hot or cold cereal, and many desserts.
  • It's on Amazon Prime, so if you're a Prime Member you get free shipping: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076B2NY6M.

Banana or Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Waffles

I love waffles! The boys could eat them like crazy to. It's important to try and make a healthier waffle. We don't eat them all the time, but on the weekends I try and make a yummy breakfast.

Through the years I've tried different recipes. I finally found one that I love. They are so good that none of us put syrup on them.

We have a family of 4, and still had left overs. Make sure you let them cool before bagging them to put in the fridge. They pop in the toaster great!

Our breakfast on the weekend is more like a brunch. We had Banana Chocolate Chip Waffles, Southern Hash (collard greens, potato, onion, and bacon), a 1/4 of a peach, Cottage Cheese, a small smoothie (spinach leaves, peach, hemp protein, ice and water), and Coffee.

What do you like to eat for breakfast?

Toasted Oatmeal Waffles

We don't go all out for breakfast on the week days. On the weekends I do. I say, "I" because Daddy thinks I do too much at breakfast time.

This morning the boys wanted waffles. I made waffles, banana smoothies and we had spinach leaves.

Here's how we made the waffles {Mica sort of helped}:

In a large sauce pan heat one Tablespoon of coconut oil. Once melted, add the oatmeal and stir for eight to ten minutes. Lower the heat, add the water and stir until it has absorbed into the oatmeal. Pour the oatmeal in a mixing bowl. Add all the wet ingredients to the oatmeal. Then add all the dry ingredients.

I hardly ever have buttermilk laying around, so I have to make a substitute. To make buttermilk: 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice and add enough milk or plain yogurt to equal 1 cup. Let stand 5 minutes before using it.

Everyone loved their meal.
