They are Growing Much Too Fast!

Grandpa Spiehs is tall, and Grandma Spiehs is pretty tall for a girl. There are some tall people in Grandma Apel's side as well. Needless to say I'm pretty sure our boys have gotten the tall gene.

Mica's only 9, and he wears size 12 shirts, and 10 pants. He's always been longer in the torso. He gets that from me, and I get that from my Dad. It sucked when he was itty bitty because I couldn't get very many 1 piece outfits, or sets. I always wished they'd carry all the cute sets separately, and at the same price. You know because the world should revolve around me, and my family. Just kidding.

Isaak's only 6, and he wears size 7. He's more proportionate than Mica is. That boy has hips though. When Mica's pants get handed down to Isaak I have to make the pants bigger for him.

Thank goodness for adjustable waists. When I was a kid they didn't have those. My boys are so skinny, their pants would be falling down if they didn't have the adjustable waist to make their pants a little more snug. Even though Isaak has hips, he's still skinny everywhere else.

I'm sad to say, but this is the last year Mica will be able to fit into Gymboree clothing. They only carry up to size 10 in their stores, and some things come in size 12 online. If you go to the store, and order right there, they will order the size you need, and ship it to your house for free.

All summer I wasn't in love with anything I saw in their store for older kids.

Then I saw a line I knew the boys would like: Vikings. I went to the store, and bought 2 shirts, 2 hats, and socks (because they always need socks) for Christmas presents. Everything was 20% off, plus I had a 20% off coupon. Grandma Spiehs bought them off me to give to the boys. She was just as excited about my find.

All images belong to Gymboree, and you can find them here.

This folks will be for Mica. It's perfect for a little boy that still loves to play dress up. He's an actor by nature.
This is great because Isaak loves to be just like Mica. I don't like them matching 100%.
I had to get matching hats. They have stocking caps with dragons on them. I like these caps so much more!

Robot Love

Isaak was really excited about this robot t-shirt. I bought it for Valentines day at Gymboree. The robot's chest opens up and says, "4u".

I ordered Mica his shirt online in the store. If you order online, while in their store, they don't charge you shipping and handling. The one I ordered for Mica, doesn't open up, but it's still cute. When they get older their clothes just are not as neat/cute.

WW: Pile of Books {Linky}

I saw a photo of my co-worker's kids reading to one another. I decided I wanted the boy's next shot to be somewhat like that.

I brought to Picture People 2 big totes filled with books and one outfit change. Yes I have a lot of books! It was raining like cats and dogs. I was so worried everything would get wet.

I knew when the photographer got out the ladder, that I'd probably like a pose from that setting best.

You don't see tons of books, but you get the idea. There were tons of them! The ones seen are Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, In the Night Kitchen, If You Give a Cat a Cupcake and Tessa the Teacher.

Mica's now reading full children's books to us. Isaak loves to get read to!

I got their outfits at Gymboree. Isaak's hair is so fussy! Mica's supporting his cool hat!

It can be hung different ways. This is the way I decided to hang it. It's not matted with these colors, although I wish it was. That was done in Photoshop.

Coats

Mica wanted to model his new new coats off. He's been wearing his winter coat with his magic cape over it all morning. I'm not sure why. He finally said, "Mommy I'm hot!" I said, "Well take your coat off like I suggested earlier." ;)

This is his Silver Point Flannel Jacket from Kohls. He told me that he wanted to cross his arms to make it seem like it was cold outside. Really it's warm.

This is his winter Pea Coat from Gymboree. This is the one he's been wearing all morning with his magic cape over it. Daddy said, "Mica looks like a cute little English bloke." Sounds like something one of my old co-worker's from London would say.

Quest to Find a Good Winter Coat 2

I went shopping with the boys tonight. Plus I got Mica's picture taken at the Picture People. I had one of their huge coupon packages. Isaak's next in line to get his photo taken. I'm waiting for his new hat to come in the mail; before getting his photo taken.

I was hoping the mall would be dead. Huskers are playing football tonight. I hate dislike football. Of course I live in a city that goes crazy over their college football team. All non football lovers must of had the same idea as me {let's go shopping}. It really wasn't that dead.

The boys were more then crazy while waiting for our photos! I mean running, giggling, jumping and taunting one another! I had to pin hug Isaak. They are so good singly! Together it's wrestle, chase and fight. The rest of the time they were good.

My quest to look for a winter coat continued. It's my goal to find one with a metal zipper, not cheap plastic. One that will last through 2 boys. I first posted about this here. I found a heavy jacket at Kohls. It's a Silver Point Plaid Flannel Jacket.

Tonight I went to Children's Place, Gap Kids, Yonkers and Crazy 8. All of which had plastic zippers.

My last stop was Gymboree. The boys begged to go down the escalator. I had already taken going to the toy store away as punishment for misbehaving in Picture People. Did I ever mention that I'm slightly afraid of the escalator? I almost lost my balance when I was holding my cousin as a baby. Plus my older sister threatened to push me down the steps when we were kids. Kids! I just picture falling and slamming my head against the metal edges. OUCH! DEADLY!

Image found here.
All was ok on the escalator. Isaak wanted to jump on himself, but I wouldn't let him. I was expecting to find nothing at Gymboree. Their website just started featuring winter coats this week. Crazy 8 is a sister store, and their coats had plastic zippers. To my surprise I scored! Did I mention that I love that store! Not only is everything cute, but they have TV's in the back. I either needed a TV or a track for my boys! Sure things are higher priced. That's why I hit their sales rack, or catch them when they have sales. They also have Gymbucks. Kohls has something like that to. If you spend over a certain amount, they'll give you bucks to spend in their store later. This is good and bad. Good if you remember to spend it, bad if you forget or loose it. Well I remembered this time, and I didn't loose it.

I bought this metal zipper pea coat for $50. It was originally $70. I got $25 knocked off of that with my Gymbucks:

It's a little dressy, looks super great on Mica, has a metal zipper, grow room, a hood, it wasn't too expensive and it's neutral enough that any hat will work as long as it's not black. If he goes sledding, I might make him wear his crappy, hard to zip puffy coat from last year.

Other Features of this coat:
  • Microfleece lining; nylon sleeve lining
  • Detachable button hood
  • Inset zip placket
  • Front pockets
  • Machine washable
I also bought this for Isaak. I may make it be from the man with a white beard. Isaak loves puppies! He didn't have a clue what I was buying because he was watching TV. ;)

They have a whole line of puppy and train shirts right now! Perfect for my boys!
