Random Tid Bits

  1. I think it's odd that there's "Stationery" like a mailing package, and "Stationary" like someone is holding still. I noticed it's used wrong on graphic design websites all the time.

There's 2 acceptable ways to spell, "Doughnut" and "Donut".

"Wind" like your hair is blowing in the wind, and "Wind" like you wind your clock is the same spelling. The English language is so confusing.

  2. I'm pretty sure Isaak doesn't believe in the Easter Bunny. He's playing his card well. I asked the boys, "So do you guys want to visit the Easter Bunny in a store?" Of course they didn't want to because they are too old. A Reese's Pieces carrot shaped bag fell down onto the ground downstairs. Isaak said, "This fell." I said, "That's too bad!" He said, "We'll have to leave it out for the Easter Bunny." At this point I'm about to tell him, "Isaak that bunny isn't real." I'm ready for, "I know Mom."

  3. Mica thinks the Easter Bunny is like Santa. He starts to ask for things. I'm like, "The Easter Bunny doesn't work that way!"

  4. The Director came into my office earlier this week to say, "I can't tell you anyone's name, or the situation, but a student thinks you don't like her."

What in the heck am I supposed to do with that? It was one of three students. Two girls leave a lot. I started calling them out on it, to show I noticed. The one girl who I know it is went through a lot of depression the first part of the semester was all sad last Friday and left suddenly, which isn't like her. The last student I mentioned is the one.

She was all happy and laughing last Friday morning. Then in the afternoon she was all down in the dumps. She turned no work in to me in the morning. Then slapped it all down on the table with missing components. I said, "You're missing this..." Then I asked if she was alright? She said, "Ya." and left. I told Travis when I got home from work, "I really don't know what I said. I was all excited because we were talking about Children's Books." He said, "Don't blame yourself if she tries something. It's not your fault." A different girl came up and said, "So did the Director talk to you about (insert name)?" So that's how I know who it is. Drama! Students in this field have to have a thick skin. I have no idea what I said, or how I offended anyone that day. I can't even ask because I'm not supposed to know it's her.

  5. Finally taxes are in. With Travis adding that teaching gig, which is done now, me looking for "freelance jobs", and work we just got behind more than normal. They kind of looked cross-eyed at Travis when he turned them in. So much medical stuff this year! But I told him to tell them, "It's all calculated!" I hate doing taxes! I'm going to hate it even more next year when I can't deduct the kid's camps, medical, and dentist.

I'm trying to relearn my French from High School. Amazing how much you forget after 20 years of not using it. What confuses me is how they have gender for their nouns. Like, why the hell is a bed considered male and a pizza female? Talk about hard!

Taxes suck. We did get $65 back this year when we usually owe a couple of hundred, so that's a plus. We usually do our taxes so we get more back through the year and less at rebate time. Jason doesn't believe in letting the government borrow our money interest free for a year when we could put it to good use ourselves all year long, so we claim as much as possible.

Sorry to hear about your student. Mariah's new boyfriend acts awkward around us all the time and finally said, "I just feel like you guys don't like me." We've been nothing but accepting and welcoming, but I think he's just pissed that I still talk to her ex boyfriend as well as his mom on social media. I do like the new boyfriend just fine, but she was with the other for almost 4 years and we really grew attached to him. He was like family to us all those years and it's hard letting go of that. I mean, I didn't break up with him, she did, so they really can't expect us to say, "Oh, too bad. My daughter broke up with you so I guess we can't be friends anymore". That's just stupid.

Theresa - I felt odd when my boyfriend of 2 1/2 yrs broke up with me when I was younger. I still like his parents. His mom said to stay in touch, but it was hard. His and I still had feelings. Now shortly after Christmas he asked me to be friends with him on FB. I accepted, but still think it’s odd because he’s just getting a divorce. It’s nice to see his parents again. Maybe not as nice seeing him. LoL 😆

I know what you mean about English... Broxton is having such a hard time understanding the differences in meanings. I just Told him it's crazy... that he will eventually get it.

I have to say I think it's ridiculous the girl's identity got protected. If there is a problem, she should come to YOU first, and then go to a director, IF she didn't feel it was resolved. It's not mature to do it the other way around. He should have called her on it, and gave her a mini-lesson in life. Just my opinion.

My son asked if the Easter Bunny could bring him a Lambo. I smirked at him, and said he'll probably get the same old, same old, IF he's lucky. ;) He knows there's no Easter Bunny, but he likes to hunt for eggs still. A helicopter was dropping 50,000 eggs on a field here today, but my son had a basketball game so we couldn't make it. I saw in the news where they were considering cancelling it because Trump and his family were flying in. Air restrictions or something. That would be a bummer because they did that last year too, for the same reason.

That sounds like Bi-Polar disorder. If it is, it has nothing to do with you and nothing you can do about it. I'm curious as to what you were supposed to do about it, if the guy wouldn't tell you who it was. Being in education is a hard row to hoe. Not least because everybody else thinks it's easy.

I can't remember when I stopped believing in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. I've always been gullible, though, so I guess it was probably later than most. ;-)

I love to see that Easter Bunny photo! The boys looks so cute :). Well, we have similar situation at the office when someone got issues with attitude and got angrier when we told him he should start changing his behavior. Oh the drama! and they just think they can easily get away with it or sue us for telling him to behave!

How about "tear" for crying and "tear" for ripping something apart?! haha.. English really is confusing at times!

Don't worry too much about the girl. Nothing much you could do since she was prob extra sensitive due to her own personal probs and nothing much you can do since she wants to remain anonymous too!

We just turned in our taxes as well. We held off as long as possible because we owed. With my new job, we weren't deducting enough from our paychecks. Frustrating, but I guess that's how it goes sometimes.

It's both wonderful and terrible when the kids stop believing. On the one hand, you don't have to pretend any more. Especially when Santa and the Easter Bunny go broke. On the other, holidays become less exciting. :-/

Hope things get worked out with that student soon. Is there any way you can ask that she speak to a counselor? As in … unrelated to anything going on between you and her? Or maybe approach her and let her know you've noticed she's been feeling a little sad lately and if there is anything you can do to help, you'd do? Idk. This is so beyond anything I've ever gone through before. :(
