Random Tid Bits

Since I'm having to start allergy shots on Monday I thought I'd make this post allergy funny.

  1. My Mom did all the right things to prevent me from getting allergies when I was little. I played outside, she breastfed me, we had 2 big dogs that we had to get rid of because I kept getting sick, she kept a clean house, and washed bedding regularly.

  2. I started cracking up when I read this:

And no I don't get my allergies from my Mom's side of the family. I get them from my Dad's. Well except for the ibuprofen one - my Aunt, Mother's sister has an allergy to that. The boys have allergies, but not nearly as bad as I do.

  3. This is funny:

  4. It's true I'm allergic to all things furry. I even broke out in red dots after holding a cute little hedgehog. It's tummy was furry. That doesn't mean I don't like them. So many people assume allergy sufferers hate them. I'd love to have a furry, cuddly pet for my kids. When I lived in Savannah it was the best because the neighbors had an outdoor cat that loved to visit me when I was outside.

Before you say, "Why don't you have a short haired dog, or hairless cat?" I was advised not to even have one of those. It's just not in the cards for me.

  5. It seems like a lot of retired people I know love to watch Doctor Oz. I can't count how many times someone older I know says, "Well Doctor Oz says..." In reference to fixing all my nasal issues.

  6. If you've been a reader for awhile, you'll know that I've tried lots of home remedy things to get better. Some have worked to relieve the symptoms at the time. BUT there is just that time where one like myself needs to go to the doctor to get medical treatment.

WW: Joslyn Castle {Linky}

This weekend we decided to take pictures at Joslyn Castle.

Father and Sons:

Mother and Sons:

 Sons:

While we were out there a tour guide came out and said, "Do you want to join our tour in 5 minutes?" I've always wanted to go on a tour there, so I answered, "Yes please."

All I've ever shot were outdoor pictures you can see here.

The door weighs a ton, but can be opened with just one finger.

It's filled with tile work:

And wallpaper:

The ceilings are lavish!

Isaak's favorite was the gold room:

I liked the stairs:

Steps in the maid quarter's:

A few original handles got stollen a few years ago. These are originals.

 The highest floor:

The outside of the castle once again:

The original owners were from England, and wanted a castle like house. The architect was from Scotland, so inside there is a Scottish look. Have you ever been inside a castle?

Easter Grievances

Grievances:

Everyone was fairly happy throughout the big family function, except when the water squirters came out. The bigger kids were having a hay day! Kids were squirting other kids, so there were tears. Parents were blaming other parents for their kids getting squirted in the face. I was done with Easter at that point. I don't like to hear fighting. When my kids were little, we watched them. Watch your kids if you think they are too fragile for a water fight. Doesn't something like that happen every family get together? It does in ours.

My nephew Emerson went home, and had his biggest seizure to date. My sister Terra was about to start CPR, my brother-in-law was about to call 911, but then it stopped. We were trying to figure out if it was the heat, an allergy, or something else. He's cutting teeth, and his jaw is higher than a typical kid's jaw would be. Certain nerves could be hit. We're kind of clueless when it came to the cause. He has had seizures in the past, but nothing that big.

The other bad thing that happened actually happened on Easter. A past student of mine was shot. I'm pretty sad just thinking about it. He was only 29, and left behind a 2 year old. I just want to cry thinking about the little girl growing up without her Dad. His death makes the idea of fighting over a stupid water fight trivial. He was always a happy guy! It's a case that's being investigated. I'm not sure what the cops know. I can say that no one has been arrested.

Rest in Peace Trent

Easter Greats

Greats:

We had our big family Easter on Saturday.

Everyone brings different things to eat. I made a veggie tray and green tea matcha sugar cookies. There were only 8 small cookies left, so the kids must have loved them. There was a whole buffet of desserts. Travis made a rice dish.

All the littles with my Grandpa. He's a Great Grandpa to all these kids - except one. Isaak's in the light purple shirt, and Mica's poking out behind him. He has 9 grandchild (including me), and 15 great grandchildren. The girl in the red pants in the back was put into this group, but she's a grandchild, not a great grandchild.

My Aunt Becky puts on a big Easter Egg Hunt. I added a few things to the hunt that I've gotten for review: Glow in the Dark Rings and yo-yos, and cat and dog dry erasers.

Here's my parents with their grandchildren:

Do you have a big family get together?
