National Pheasant Fest

  • Our trip downtown to the National Pheasant Fest was interesting.
  • If Mica could have stayed at the archery section the whole time, he would have been happy. He had a huge smile on his face after this activity!
  • Isaak could have played with the puppies the entire time. I should of gotten pictures of him with the puppies.

Going Somewhere I Wouldn't Normally Go

  • I always tell my students that one way of jump starting your creativity is to go somewhere where you wouldn't normally go.
  • I won tickets through a local TV station to go to a National Pheasant Fest. We're going sometime this weekend.
  • I'm sure I'll take some photo's.

Tropical Traditions Whole Golden Flax Seed Review

I had a wonderful opportunity to try out Tropical Traditions Whole Golden Flax Seed.

Just a couple facts about Flax Seed:
  • Flax is a pretty blue flowered plant that grows on the plains of North Central United States and Central Canada.
  • Oil and fiber components of flaxseed have major health benefits. It has both Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. Most American's lack these healthy fats in their daily diet.
  • It reduces coronary heart disease.
  • It is a great source of fiber.
  • Other nutrients include: proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, folate, vitamin B-6, pantothenic acid, magnesium, potassium, iron, thiamine, copper, zinc, calcium and phosphorus.
  • Your body gets more nutrients if you grind the flaxseed before use. A coffee grinder works great!
Brownie Recipe:

  1. Preheat over to 350 degrees.
  2. In a small pan, melt the oil and chocolate over medium heat, stirring occasionally. *Note flax seed is better for you if you grind it down. I do not have a coffee grinder, but plan on getting one soon for this purpose.
  3. Add remaining ingredients; stir to blend.
  4. Spray a 9" square pan.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
It will look like this before it goes in the oven.
Note that you can see some specks. That is the flax seed. It is better for you if you have a coffee grinder that can break it down before use.

The end result.
Mica, my 5 year old helped himself. He cut one out of the center of the pan. ;)
He loved his treat!

Wordless Wednesday - Slinky Fun!

Isaak: Mommy look in here!

Mom: Cool! Let me take a picture.

End Result: Snap! In Mom's face.

Our Basement

  • In the future we plan on redoing the main room in our basement. I was looking at tv stands to see what would fit the design vision we have.
  • I came across this one:

  • We're going for more of a modern look in our basement. Our upstairs has more of an antique feel.
  • Each room in my opinion should have it's own unique look and feel.
  • It will be years before we remodel our basement. It is fun to go online shopping at CSN|Stores.

Daddy Needs to Kiss Me More

  • Daddy kissed me this morning while the boy's were sitting down for breakfast.
  • Daddy said, "I love you!"
  • Mica said, "If you love her, then you should kiss her more."

A Cheeseburger is a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

  • We went to McDonald's yesterday for dinner. Something we don't do often.
  • I usually get a mix of all different things.
  • Two boy's happy meals. One with apples and a cheeseburger. The other with fries and chicken nuggets. They get chocolate milk when we're out; it's not something they get at home. I get a salad. Daddy gets whatever he feels like.
  •  Then the boy's and I split everything.
  • Isaak in the past wouldn't eat any part of a cheeseburger. Last night he did.
  • He kept saying, "What a yummy peanut butter and jelly sandwich." Then he'd take a massive bite!
  • I give the boy's their toy's at the end of their meal. They are starting to eat it all!
  • Someone messed up and gave one happy meal a girl toy. I told Daddy to take it back to get a boy toy.
  • Nope! The boy's wanted the My Little Pony. We kept it. They fought over it. ;) Kids!
