Mica Came Clean

For a year, or more Mica's wanted to be an inventor. He wanted to make a time machine.

Source
I thought this desire to be an inventor was from watching Back to the Future. He loves those movies!

The other night Mica said to Daddy, "I can't wait to make a time machine!"

Daddy said, "Why do you want to make a time machine so bad?"

Mica said, "Because I'm in love."

Daddy said, "What?"

Mica said, "I'm in love with Laura from Little House on the Prairie. I want to go back in time to meet her!"

Daddy the literal person that he his said, "Mica you do know that is just a show, and that Melissa Gilbert is older than I am?"  Daddy showed him pictures of Melissa Gilbert now.

Mica buried his little face in his hands. He looked up and said, "I love her."

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday

Sing, Sing a Song Saturday is all about me discovering something that is different to post. I don't want to post things that you and I have more than likely heard before. I want to find something different. It could be from another country, someone singing from the streets of NY, and more.

This week I'm posting a singer/writer/actor that everyone knows. Hopefully I can share things about him that come as a surprise. Prince has been a long time favorite of mine. I have reason for cover him. His real name is Prince Rodgers Nelson. He was born in 1958. I swear the guy's face hasn't aged a bit. The only sign that he's getting older is the cane that he's used to walk up on stage.

Why do I like him? He can plays a lot of instruments - very well! He's written so many songs! I remember when I got his top hits album I was surprised that many songs that were sang by Cindi Lauper were on there. He wrote them.

I also have respect for his music beliefs. He has recorded a ton of songs, but keeps them locked up in a safe because he hasn't liked where the music industry has gone. So many people, including me listen to music for free. The artist's aren't getting paid what they used to. I'd love to hear everything he has locked up! He removes his videos off of YouTube, and has sued others for Copyright Infringement & Bootlegging. He removes things off the internet in a flash! In fact up to this point he's had a bad website up. He just got a new one: 3rdeyegirl.com. All of his social media sites are under 3rd Eye Girl. Who can blame the man? He has probably never gotten privacy. That's probably why he went by a symbol and now 3rd Eye Girl. I also think he's working with more people. That might be why he shifted the name to.

Source
Then Spotify released a new song of his. Is he finally making peace with the internet?

The song is called Pretzelbodylogic. The whole song is on Spotify, but not YouTube. Here's a preview:

In my opinion he's still got it!

Random Tid Bits

  1. It finally snowed here. 3 to 5 inches to be exact. All the schools were closed for a day. People were complaining about the snow. They were saying, "Bring on spring." We actually need more snow! We've had our fair share of cold days, but not as much snow has come down as usual. I don't want the farmers to suffer. Then food prices will go up.

  2. I know many people say that men are less moody than women. I'm sorry I just don't buy it. There is an apartment of four males that go to school here. They had a falling out with one. The one was crying he was so upset. Then they had a falling out with another. There was a rumor that that one was dropping out. He took all his stuff, and didn't come to school for a week. He came back to school, and was upset that there was a rumor going on about him not returning. This isn't the first time we've had issues with boys/men.

  3. We had an issue with an apartment of girls to. They worked thing out on their own. One girl moved out, another one moved in, and they all still talk. Am I saying that girls are not moody? No. I'm just saying that it totally depends on the person, not their sex.

Last week I was upset about something. My husband said, "Get over it!" I was a little put off by his reply, but I did just that. I got over it. The next day he was upset with something that was not in his control. I said, "Get over it." He said, "You sound just like your Mother." Funny...I thought I sounds just like him. He lost sleep over this issue that was not in his control. It's just another example of how boys can be moody.

Why is there a misconception that girls/women are more moody than boys/men?

  4. Usually I do try and get reviews up as soon as possible. It is harder in the winter time because it's dark when I wake up, and it's dark when I get home. I try and write reviews over the weekend because I can take better pictures; making for a better review. Not that I always put products through a major test, but part of reviewing something is using it, washing it, and putting it through the test of life to figure out if it's a good product, or not. I don't want to review something that I haven't had the time to use.

  5. What are your thoughts on this?

  6. I read a really great article about the brain. You can read it here. It was brought on by Phillip Seymour Hoffman's passing. It wasn't about him, it is about addiction, and how the brain works with addiction. I've never understood addiction so well! This article truly made me get it.

  7. Did you have strong emotions regarding the Coke commercial during the Super Bowl? I watched it, and didn't think anything of it. To me it was just different languages forming together to love Coke and America. In other countries they typically speak 3 languages. Many of us don't know other languages other than English. When you think about it many, not all, but many of us have relatives from Germany, Sweden, Poland and so on. We're a mixture of all different places. I happen to like that we're a mix. One of my favorite artists Robert Rauschenberg said in a video that I have that we have to start thinking globally. I think he's right. As much as I failed at learning Spanish, it's still important to broaden our minds. We're not alone here on this earth. Coke did their job...people are talking about their commercial. As for the song, it was written by a feminist lesbian. I want to hear your thoughts, and I'm not going to judge you for disagreeing with me. It's the land of the free supposedly. Be free to share your opinions.

She brings up some good points!

Why My Kid's Will Need Therapy Someday

Crazy hair in the morning. Since these photos were taken both boys got their hairs cut.

Mica's eyes moved in that last photo. He looks like a demon child. I did not Photoshop them to look like that. Mica was laughing so hard at this own eyes.

This is why my kids will need therapy when they grow up:

Mica: "Where are we going tonight?"

Me: "To your Mom's house."

Mica: "You are my Mom!"

Me: "Are you sure?"

Mica: Insert eye roll at my direction.

WW: 3D Train {Linky}

One thing that Mica got from Santa, that he just put together last week was a foam core train.

My husband took these photos on his phone, and then I took others.

Do you see all the little seats inside?

This gives you an idea as to how many pieces there were.

Football

Isaak helped me put together this healthish football plate.

We went to Daddy's co-worker's house for the game. I talked with the Mom of the house most of the time. The boys played with their kids. One is in 1st grade, and the other is in 3rd grade. Just a grade up from my kids.

I'm not into football. I have to say that I did my best to not complain. Probably the funniest thing about the game was Payton Manning's facial expressions. I know his face and name because he originally played for the Nebraska Corn Huskers (yes I know it's very hick sounding football team). Then Mr. Manning was on our local news for awhile. He talked about sports.

I did like the 1/2 time show!

Many of the commercials were online before the big game. I saw most of them before.

The funniest thing to me (remember I don't get into sports much) were the matching mouth guards. I just cracked up over that. I was like, "Really matching mouth guards? These are men, and they have to be all matchy?" Daddy was like, "They are always that way."

In the end I ate way too much crap. I've been paying for it today. I should have stuck with eating plain chicken and veggies all night.

Did you watch the game?

GungHo Energy Boost #Giveaway

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
I have to be honest I've never been a soda drinker. I drink one sometimes when we go out, but it's usually root beer, or lemonade. Water is a preferred drink. I often times have one cup of coffee in the mornings. When I don't have coffee, I have a cup of tea later in the morning.

I'm trying to wean from coffee. I just want to make it so that I don't depend on it every day. I got a chance to review GungHo. It's an energy drink, but it's not full of bad things. I felt a little wake up call, but didn't get jittery at all.

They sent me a 3 day sample pack.

Over time, GungHo will also build brain health, capacity to focus and memory recall...but you won't notice that right away. My Grandma passed away of Alzheimer's disease, so I'm glad it boosts the brain!

About GungHo:
  • Builds focus
  • Enhances brain energy and memory storage and recall...unlike energy drinks
  • Is a slight appetite suppressant
  • Lifts your mood - beta endorphines or "happy mormones"
  • It's all natural - no calories, no sugar, no jitters, and no crash like coffee does
  • It comes in a packet, which makes it easy to store in your purse, or anywhere really
  • It helps your muscles that are tired
Hai:

That's Ninja for hello. They have a fun ninja branding.

One Ninja tip from their website is: Happy breeds happy. I couldn't agree more. When I'm around people that are down, I feel down. GungHo captures that part int he brain that boosts your beta endorphines, or "happy mormones".

Have I Noticed a Difference:

It pepped me up a bit. I actually didn't miss coffee, like I thought I would. Sometimes when I have to write a test, I just can't get into it. I get distracted really easily. GungHo did help a bit with concentration.

I do wish that they would have sent me more, so I could relay to you if it worked long term. I'm happy with what I got though.

"Proven focus and brain energy...unlike energy shots that provide short-term energy and no   long-term impact on brain energy, GungHo builds vital neurotransmitters in the brain over time" - Dr Perry Renshaw, MD, PhD, Former Harvard Professor, Director @ The Brain Institute

Giveaway Time:

5 US readers have the chance to win a 3 pack of GungHo.

Organicasaurus Snack #Giveaway

I was lucky enough to get a big box of Organicasaurus snacks to review from Good Boy Organics! Mica's eyes were wide when he saw that the whole box was different flavored Organicasaurus snacks. I just can't seem to fill that boy up!

We got three flavors to try out:

Tangy Tomato
Isaak and I like this one the best

Cheddar Cheese
I didn't try this one because I'm trying to stay away from milk, but my boys loved it

Sea Salty
Mica's favorite

About Organicasaurus:
  • They have 40% less fat than other snacks compared to them
  • Certified gluten-free
  • Certified organic
  • Non-GMO verified
  • The are baked, not fried
  • Their products do have flour in them, but they are gluten free flours
  • I didn't see a lot of dyes in their snacks
  • It foams and crunches in your mouth like a Cheeto would, but it's healthy
It's Fun:

I've never seen a snack puffed-up like a prehistoric animal before. I like that it's a fun snack, and it's healthy to.

I encouraged my boys to play with their snack. You can see that they had a blast. When Isaak was done with his Organicasaurus' he pretended he was a dinosaur himself, grabbed them, and ate them.

Mica had fun to.

It's Giveaway Time:

One lucky US reader is going to win a variety pack of Organicasaurus from Good Boy Organics!

Steps

I feel like I've been slacking in the blogging world lately. I still post way more often than some, but less than I used to.

This semester is going to be a busy one. I have Portfolio class. In all my other classes I have a helper, but not in this class. It's the busiest class, and I have no assistant. Luckily the class as a whole is better than last years class. It's still a lot of work.

Home projects seem to take over my life when I'm at home. This summer it was the kitchen floor, and the outside of the house that needed to be painted. Then it was the bathroom toilet, the floor, and the molding. Then we dismantled all of our DVDs.

Proof

We put them in a binder, which takes up a lot less room, and looks nicer.

Soon I'll be starting the steps. We peeled off the carpet as soon as we moved into our house. The previous owners had pets, and many of them.

Here's what I plan on doing with the steps:

I have a hodge podge of ideas. Some of them I've found on Pinterest, and some of them are my own ideas. I can't decide if I want to use my own ideas, or mix up the ideas.

My Idea number 1: My parents wanted to get rid of old encyclopedias. They actually came from a school library years ago, and say, "Burn" on them. The Good Will wouldn't take them. The recycle place only want the pages; not the covers. My Dad was in the process of breaking them down. He was going to burn the covers and recycle the pages. I said, "I'll take them!" I thought I could cut them length and height wise to cover the backs of the steps. I know there won't be enough to do the whole job. I guess since I'm cutting them I could use the pages to. I'd have to dip them in resin, or something though.

Pinterest idea number 2: Old rulers, or yard sticks on the backs of steps are cool! I'd probably go up and down with them vertically; instead of horizontally. I thought a mix of the encyclopedias and rulers would look pretty cool. The problem is finding rulers that don't have words on them. Companies love to put Lowes, and Home Depot on their yard sticks. I want no additional words on them. Why do companies have to slather their brand name on stuff all the time? Ok I know why, but I don't want it there.

Source
Pinterest idea number 3: If I can't find the rulers, or yard sticks I want, patterns would fit with encyclopedias well. It would just take a freaking long time!

Source
Pinterest idea number 4: If the patterns are too overwhelming I could go with solid colors.

No Source Found. If you know who did this let me know, so I can source it!
What combination do you like? I'm for sure using the encyclopedias. What do you like with them?
