Sing, Sing a Song Saturday is now Out of the Box Saturday. It's all about me discovering something that
is different. I don't want to post things that you and I have
more than likely heard before. I want to find something different. I'll
cover something sing | songy one week, and artsy | fartsy the next.
I know, I know I know I skipped this post last week. I actually started writing it, got side tracked, and more sidetracked.
One of my favorite movies is Amélie. Have you ever seen that movie? I think everyone should. Well...except for kids because they have nude scenes. Otherwise it's a super great, feel good movie.
This week I'm covering the musician responsible for all the music in the movie Amélie. His name is Yann Tiersen. I've never looked him up. I do however like his music. Yann Tiersen is a French musician. His musical career is split between studio albums, collaborations and
film soundtracks. His music involves a large variety of instruments;
primarily the guitar, synthesizer or violin together with instruments like the melodica, xylophone, toy piano, harpsichord, accordion and typewriter.
The boys love computer and DS games. Thankfully they don't ask to play them all the time.
We take them to the library to play. They love it. It's just a bummer when there aren't any computers available.
The kid below asks Isaak to do a lot of things. That's great, but then I feel like we don't take him out enough. His parents are ok with me posting pictures. They post pictures of Isaak all the time.
My husband works a lot. I'm not talking a day job kind of work. It's more welding in the garage, making molds of sculptures, and grinding metal. He always needs light!

Rubber plastic finish is shock-proof
It's water resistant

A strong 360° rotatable swivel hook to hang your light anywhere you wish.
A built-in magnet allows you to stick it to any metallic surface.
The design allows you to set it on all sides, on any horizontal surface.
Comes With Batteries!
Not a lot of products come with
batteries now a days. All of Aennon products I've gotten for review have
come with them. You don't have to consider a pack of batteries in the
cost of this. The price on Amazon is $17.27 and on sale for $12.97.
It Hangs!
I don't know that many flashlights that hang. If you want the hanger down there's a spot for it to bend back into the flashlight. This is durable. I didn't feel like I was going to break it when I moved the hanger in and out.
This Flashlight is an Ideal Helper for Life and Work

So far we haven't had any tornado warnings in our town. I'm surprised because some years we have to go to the basement each night for a week straight it seems. It's been really rainy this spring! When the wind and storms pick up our power often times goes out. We have a ton of big trees in our neighborhood.
The adjustable pivoting head tilts up to 270°, allowing you to focus light as needed.
A strong 360° rotatable swivel hook to hang your light anywhere you wish.
Two strong base magnets allow you to stick it to any metallic surface.

I love that it can be hung on things. I you're camping, you can hang it up in the tent. If you no longer want the hanger up, that folds into the flashlight. The design of this product is just amazing!

Last weekend Isaak was out with a friend. We took Mica to get some Red Mango yogurt. It's a treat we don't normally get. It's oh so yummy! What's your favorite ice cream, or frozen yogurt place?
Our boys are supposed to have a well check once a year. I skipped last year, and I'll probably skip next year. I figure with getting them in to get a flu shot once a year Doc. Harrison sees them anyhow.
I kept getting emails saying, Mica and Isaak haven't been in for a well visit in awhile. The importance of well visits are... They should get them once a year. I took them both in at the same time.
No shots were needed. That anxiety was out of the picture. The boys were actually excited to go in.
Waiting for Doc. Harrison to come in... They look so big up on the table! Mica said, "Don't take a picture of what I'm reading." I said, "Why?" Mica said, "Because I'm reading Frozen." Isaak said, "I like Frozen Mica." Mica said, "I do to. Just don't tell anybody." LOL
Height and Weight
I was excited to see what their percentages are. Between my height of 5' 6" and Dad's height 6' Doc Harrison thinks they'll be 5' 9" - 6' 1". I don't buy that. They have other very tall relatives. They are both 95% for height in their age groups.
Mica age 9 - 10 in August is 75 pounds. That puts him at 67% in his age group. He is 58" tall. That puts him at 95% in his age group.
Isaak age 7 is 55.6 pounds. That puts him at 75% in his age group. He is 51.5" tall. That puts him at 95% in his age group.
Blood Pressure
Both are normal. Mica was telling Isaak what he was going to feel. It was pretty cute! Isaak's such an over actor.
Eyes
Mica has 20/20 vision.
Isaak has 20/30 vision. The person that gave him his eye test said that a lot of Kindergartener's have that vision. It's not really a concern, but it's something we need to watch. His left eye is worse than his right one. The nurse said that her vision was just that when she was little. Her doctor gave her reading glasses. They made her eyes worse. Allergies
There is a cloudy substance in the upper eye, which is from allergies in both kids.
I'm supposed to keep doing what I'm doing allergy wise: Wash their hair before bed, change their pillow cases often, give them the netti pot when needed, give them Children's Zyrtec when needed, and Zaditor Eye Drops when needed. All he said to add was Flonase if they get really bad. Adult Flonase can be used for kids.
They still don't know what the dry patch is under Mica's chin. I'm trying Argan Oil. Except I'm putting it on the skin where I remember to put it on. Doc. Harrison refers to it as Orange Peel Skin. He wonders if his chin is just like that. Much like some people have small bumps on the top of their arms. Bed Wetting
It's too infrequent to be concerned. Boys in particular have more problems with that. He does think I'm right; that his bed wetting is connected to his growth spurts.
Tic
Isaak has a child tic. An oral fixation. Doc Harrison says this is normal to. He's chewed on his sleeve, gave his arm a hickey or two, and bit his arm. Once we explained what a hickey is, Isaak didn't do that again. Doc Harrison said that he sees tics all the time in kids. It's a coping mechanism. Most of the time they grow out of it, unless they have a serious disorder. He doesn't think that's the case.
Teeth
They just went to the dentist yesterday. Does anyone think it's weird that we are supposed to see the dentist twice a year, when people usually only go to the doctor when they are sick? Teeth are such a small part of our body. Our whole body doesn't get checked out very much at all.
Isaak has to see an Orthodontist. He lost a tooth that he's not supposed to loose until he's 12. His mouth is just too crowded.
Here's a new one: Westboro Baptist Church visited my hometown. I never thought that would happen.
A mother, mentor, wife, cop, and more was shot in the line of duty shortly after she had a baby.
The police department got word they were coming for the cop's funeral, teamed together to block the Westboro protestors, so the grieving family wouldn't see them.
I'm not always on the side of cops. I firmly believe they are just like everybody else - there's good ones, and bad ones. I first hand watched one speed around for no apparent reason when we were heading out of town in the early morning hours. That alone didn't send a good message to my kids, and our safety. There are more cops that went into the service for the right reasons - over the wrong reasons. Cops blocking protestors is great! No one wants to see protestors at a funeral.
I have a ton of brown hair, and lots of grey ones intermixed. I don't dye it. I know, I know, those that do dye their hair look at me like I'm crazy. I'm not even 40 yet, and I'm loaded with grey. I just like the all natural look on me. Just like I won't judge someone for having crazy colored hair, I hope people don't judge me for letting mine be. I have just as many look at me like I'm nuts for not dyeing my hair, as I do have people who compliment me for leaving it all natural. I do have to say that I feel lucky that it's even grey. I call them my frosted highlights.
I'm not at all surprised when I find grey hairs, but I am sort of surprised to find red hairs (like I have been). My Dad has red hair, I had a Grandma that had red hair, and I have a nephew that has red hair. I shouldn't be surprised, but I am.
I've been doing lots of busy work lately. I'm trying to get my syllabi done for the fall, then will come lesson plans, I'm improving my content for some newsletters students have to do, and there's these modules I have to do every summer. I'm still unsure if I'll have summer school. I had one student squeeze by with a D-, another student got a D in one of my classes, and the one that would need to pass failed two classes. There's one other student that won't graduate because his grade point average wasn't high enough, so I may have to teach him at one point.
I decided I'm done with big friend birthday parties, so instead I'm letting each kid ask a some friends to go out to a movie, or someplace to eat. Isaak said, "I want to go to that place that throws food in your mouth, and they make fires." I said, "Umm Kobe Steakhouse - No! That's too expensive." He has 3 or 4 friends coming to Pizza Hut. I plan on taking games with us. I'm dreading putting silly giveaway bags together. I never know how I feel about those things.
The boys have a doctor's visit later today. It's a well check. I skipped a year for their well check. I have a list of things to talk to the doctor about. It's not long, just a small list.
Mica's chin is getting all dry again. I keep forgetting to put oil on it. I think Toe Juice could help it possibly as well. We took him to a Dermatologist last fall about his chin. She didn't even know what was up with it. She gave us a powerful med to put on it. It did go away, but now it's back again. I have to be honest, I don't like powerful drugs with Steroids in them. It doesn't look like eczema. It's just dry, and has little mini bumps on it. I do know it's not bacterial. That the Dermatologist could tell us that.
I am going to talk to Doc Harrison about Isaak's bed wetting thing. Again it's super infrequent. We're talking 1/2 a week of bed wetting in a 4 month time span. If we wake him up to go to the bathroom before we go to bed Isaak doesn't have any problems. He goes potty, and goes right back to sleep. The trouble is, I don't take him all the time because the problem is so infrequent. I'm not too worried about it. It seems to only happen when he's growing a lot. He eats and drinks more at that time, and needs his sleep. It only makes sense that the two are connected.
I want to talk to the doctor about the boy's allergies. Isaak gets them in his eyes bad.
Isaak has an oral fixation going on. He's been biting his shirt, and giving himself light hickies on his arm. After talking to him about what hickies are, he hasn't done it again. To be honest I tried doing that when I was little to.
I will have him look over their moles, and Isaak has a birthmark on his spin that's always looked at.
All these things I need to talk to the doctor about aren't for answers really. Just to touch base, and see if he has any tips. My kids are well mannered overall, good eaters, active, and sleep good. Their overall health is great. Do you ever go to the doctor for well visits?
I just had to laugh when I came to work, and the whole grass area, and parking lot looked like this:
This is just a small section of the big picture. There were beer cans laying about. Of course it's been raining here just like it has many other parts of the US. Someone had some fun spinning circles in the grass. There was grass clumps all over the parking lot.
I know my boss wasn't happy. What owner would be? My boss was out there shoveling up the random bits of sod. I had to chuckle about it.
